Chapter 372: Who Looks Better?
When they got out of the car, Zi Heng woke up, and Xia Xi took his little hand into the elevator, her voice soft and gentle: "There are still a few days until school starts; how's the packing going?"
She let Zi Heng pack all the supplies needed for school himself to cultivate his hands-on ability, and only on the night before school started did she check everything again, making up any missing items for him.
Zi Heng: "All packed."
"Really?" Xia Xi tried to steer the conversation toward her true intention: "Mom will come help you check later, so I don't forget when Mom gets busy around the start of school."
Zi Heng had no objection and just said "oh."
After hearing the mother and son's conversation, Xu Yanfeng chuckled.
Xia Xi glanced at him, and Xu Yanfeng met her gaze, his voice clear and smooth, with a hidden meaning: "There's no three hundred taels of silver buried here."
Zi Heng heard it, blinked blankly, and asked: "What does 'there's no three hundred taels of silver buried here' mean?"
Xu Yanfeng raised his eyebrows slightly and patiently explained: "It's about a person who had three hundred taels of silver, buried it in the ground, afraid someone would steal it, so he put up a sign telling others that there was no three hundred taels of silver buried here."
"That person is really stupid." Zi Heng shook his head, "Then everyone who sees the sign would know, right?"
"Exactly." Xu Yanfeng nodded, looking at someone, making his meaning crystal clear: "So this saying is used to mock those who try to hide something but end up exposing it completely."
Xia Xi: "……"
After entering the house, Zhangyi came over to ask if they wanted some late-night snack, but they didn't, so Zhangyi went back to her room.
Xia Xi ignored Xu Yanfeng, squatted down, pressed her hand on Zi Heng's shoulder, and softly said: "Mom will sleep with you tonight, okay?"
Zi Heng was about to say okay when Xu Yanfeng cut in first: "No."
Mother and son both looked at him simultaneously. He only looked at Xia Xi, half-smiling.
Xia Xi's scalp went numb.
Zi Heng didn't understand the undercurrents between adults: "Why not?"
Xu Yanfeng's mind turned, and he came up with a noble-sounding excuse: "Because Dad needs to talk to Mom about something very important."
Zi Heng, who was never a stubborn child, upon hearing this, seriously nodded and gave up: "All right then."
Kids are easy to fool, Xu Yanfeng laughed, rubbed Zi Heng's head twice with his palm: "Go back to your room, take a bath, read but don't stay up too late, and go to sleep early."
Zi Heng: "Mom just said she'd check if I missed any school supplies."
Xu Yanfeng: "School starts on the 31st; today is only the 22nd, there are still a few days—we can check later."
Zi Heng said nothing more, went back to the children's room, closed the door, leaving only Xu Yanfeng and Xia Xi in the living room.
The lights were bright, but Xu Yanfeng's eyes were dark; he hooked his arm around Xia Xi's neck, pulling her whole body into his embrace, his voice sounding from above her head: "On the very day we got our marriage certificate, you already want to sleep in separate rooms?"
Xia Xi's neck was bent, her back arched, like a chick whose neck is being pinched, she couldn't break free, the pose was uncomfortable, but fortunately Xu Yanfeng released her after only a few seconds.
Before she could even catch her breath, her body suddenly lifted; Xu Yanfeng scooped her up horizontally, she opened her mouth, a gasp caught in her throat, but no sound came out.
Xu Yanfeng tugged at the corner of his mouth: "Did you forget that I said I'd come back to settle the score with you?"
"What score?" Xia Xi lifted her leg and kicked the air in protest.
Xu Yanfeng held her steadily as they walked toward the master bedroom, lowering his head to look into her eyes as he walked, counter-questioning: "What do you say?"
"What do I say? I say I'm completely innocent!" Xia Xi named her friend: "It was Zhao Lei who sent it to me; I had no idea what it was before I opened it. If you don't believe me, you can check our chat logs."
Xu Yanfeng acted like an unreasonable person: "I don't care; I only know you watched that naked man and seemed quite pleased."
Xia Xi sucked in a breath, her eyes wide: "I didn't look at it happily at all!"
Xu Yanfeng offered evidence: "Your mouth corners turned up—that's not happiness? Tell me what happiness is."
Xia Xi froze.
Had her mouth corners turned up?
She couldn't recall what expression she had while watching that video…
Entering the bedroom, Xu Yanfeng hooked the door shut with his foot; with a "bang," the surroundings grew even quieter, and Xia Xi's heart gave a jolt at the sound of the door closing.
Xu Yanfeng still kept his head lowered, then suddenly leaned in extremely close, bumping his forehead against hers: "Anything else you want to argue about?"
Xia Xi had nothing to say, closed her eyes, lay still like a salted fish, stopped struggling, and left herself to his mercy.
Seeing her give up completely, Xu Yanfeng couldn't help but chuckle; his breath brushed over her ear, warm and tingling, Xia Xi shrank her neck slightly, her heart fluttering lightly. His voice dropped low, each word deliberate: "Do you like that? I can do that too."
Xia Xi lifted her eyelids, her gaze dazed, wondering if she had misheard.
Next, Xu Yanfeng proved it with his actions—she hadn't misheard a single word.
The thin summer blanket was flipped up, releasing a wave of heat; the air conditioning's effect was minimal. Xu Yanfeng gently stroked her sweaty cheek, his voice tinged with faint breaths, incredibly provocative: "Who looks better?"
Xia Xi could no longer remember what the man in the video looked like; whether her eyes were open or closed, it was always him—his handsome face, his straight chest, his defined abs…
"Why aren't you answering?" he asked, while his movements didn't stop, the force not light but heavy.
Xia Xi bit her lower lip, the sound that escaped was strange, as if it weren't her own. Her eyelids burned, she slowly blinked twice, uttering brokenly: "You… it's you."
"What about me?"
"You're the best-looking."
"Call me husband."
"Husband."
The one who had lost the match couldn't do anything but obey his words; completely powerless to resist, her arms went limp like cotton, unable to support her sweat-dampened arms, they slid down and lay on the wrinkled bedsheet.
Xu Yanfeng finally took pity and let her go; after a moment, he wanted to hold her and take her to shower, but she refused, opening her mouth to ask for a little more rest. He obliged, turned on the bedside lamp, leaned against the headboard tilted to look at her, and his fingers brushed the damp strands of hair from her snow-white neck hollow.
Xia Xi had her back to him, half-asleep, her breathing not yet settled, a little rushed.
After a while, Xu Yanfeng moved close and embraced her from behind. The leather sleeve cuff dug into her skin; Xia Xi lifted her eyelids, turned her head to look back, and poked a finger at the sleeve cuff on his bare arm: "Can you take it off?"
The thing used to adjust shirt cuffs, now employed as a tool for flirtation—she was also convinced.
Xu Yanfeng pressed his lips to her ear, speaking with a teasing tone: "You don't like it?"
Xia Xi: "……"
Xu Yanfeng rubbed against her ears for a while, then got out of bed to go to the bathroom to shower.
Not long after he left, the phone rang a few times; Xia Xi, eyes closed, felt around the pillowside, finally found her own phone on the nightstand, picked it up, and unlocked it.
Zhao Lei: "Where are the sisters?"
Zhao Lei: "Still working overtime this late?"
Zhao Lei: "Waiting for your feedback."
Looking at the message from this culprit, Xia Xi sighed, "Friend, you've ruined me, you know that?"
Xia Xi replied with a string of ellipses.
Seeing her pop up, Zhao Lei got energized: "How's it, how's it? Rare to have a pretty face and a great figure, and importantly not greasy!"
Xia Xi: "Does your husband know?"
Zhao Lei: "What joke, I wouldn't dare show him this, he's just a big vat of vinegar."
Zhao Lei: "Hold on, you wouldn't have been caught by General Manager Xu while looking, would you?"
Xia Xi: "【smile】"
A smiling emoji said it all; Zhao Lei sympathized with her, but it didn't stop her from laughing hysterically: "hahahaha. 【light candle】"
After chatting a few words with Zhao Lei, Xia Xi wasn't so sleepy, lying on the bed looking at other messages.
Xu Yanfeng came out of the bathroom, hair half-dry, falling over his forehead, glanced at the bed, Xia Xi was intently looking at her phone, he casually asked: "Do you want to take a shower now?"
"Wait a moment."
Xia Xi was sending a message to Xia Yue, asking how Xia Xuan was.
Xia Yue hadn't rested yet, replied quickly: "Chen Songbai came by after work, but Xuanxuan still didn't see him. As for the rest, it's fine, don't worry."
