Chapter 36: Three Effects, Three Potions, Meditation
This fragrant plant sap, extracted from the parasitic vine monster, was found to possess three distinct medicinal effects after a simple identification and assessment by the Herbalist Zuojigela.
It can significantly promote the rapid healing of wounds of all sizes on a human body, and after his own personal experiments, he discovered that as long as it is used sparingly and cautiously, it does not significantly affect human health.
Therefore, it can be used to create an oral healing Potion. In combat squads without a Church Priest, when used in conjunction with Healing Ointment, it can barely serve as a substitute for a Priest's healing Prayer. It allows small to medium wounds that would normally take about a month to heal to close rapidly and naturally in less than ten days.
Of course, this Potion does not provide an immediate healing effect; it merely enhances the body's natural self-healing ability. It is ineffective against severed limbs, large wounds, ulcerations, inflammation, diseases, parasites, and other such injuries. It only serves to promote the healing of ordinary sword and blade wounds.
However, this is still quite good; at the very least, it provides Jier with an alternative treatment plan in the absence of a traveling Priest.
Another medicinal effect of the sap is that after consuming this monster sap, it provides the human body with an additional physical recovery effect for a short period. This effect takes hold very quickly and is quite significant.
After trying the monster sap, Zuojigela immediately felt that the physical fatigue of his day had vanished, even though he had only consumed a few drops. However, this effect is too overbearing; after examination, Zuojigela discovered that ordinary people should not use the monster sap directly in this manner. It requires further dilution of this plant monster material, combined with several other ingredients to suppress the toxicity of the monster material and its other positive effects, in order to isolate and highlight its physical recovery effect.
In this way, one can produce an oral Physical Recovery Potion specifically for restoring human physical strength.
An ordinary person can use it once a day, with each dose restoring their full physical strength to a normal state. If taken in excess, it can restore physical strength to an optimal state for a short time, but because it is a Potion made from monster materials, there will be some side effects. These side effects do not appear immediately, but rather cause the Warrior who overconsumed the Potion to suffer from prolonged physical discomfort after a period of time.
This Potion is also not suitable for long-term use; otherwise, the result is the same as an ordinary person eating monster meat directly, which will cause organ mutation within a normal person's body and trigger incurable terminal illnesses.
The final medicinal effect of this monster sap is that it can act as a mental stimulant after consumption.
At first, the Herbalist Zuojigela thought this effect was just a normal phenomenon following the recovery of physical strength, as human spirit and will are attached to the body; when the body is healthy, the spirit is naturally refreshed. But after careful examination, he discovered that physical recovery is one thing, and mental stimulation is another; even if his physical strength was not depleted, his spirit would remain exceptionally excited for a period of time.
This is a useful stimulant Potion, and one can produce an oral Mental Refreshing Potion without using many monster materials. Of course, the Herbalist also discovered that this monster material has an exceptionally fragrant scent; even through simple smelling, the human body can be slightly mentally refreshed.
If the toxicity is removed from the monster sap and it is concentrated and mixed with other Herbs, it should be possible to create a concentrated mental refreshing Ointment. One only needs to apply a little to the surface of the body, and it will be absorbed through the skin, refreshing the spirit and increasing personal mental focus in a short time, thereby enhancing the effect of Meditation.
Speaking of this, Jier was very curious.
"Enhancing the effect of Meditation? How does it enhance it?"
The Herbalist found water to wash his hands and took two or three small bottles from the pocket at his waist: "Knight Jier, why don't you try the effect? I can prepare this Ointment on the spot; I used it a bit earlier and felt the effect was quite good."
Jier had no objections. He sat casually on a stone stool in the courtyard, letting the Herbalist Zuojigela simply mix the liquid in the small bottles, eventually producing an Ointment similar to Grease that emitted a strong, fragrant scent in his palm.
The Herbalist first had Jier carefully smell the Ointment with his nose. The fragrance of the plants was rich, and no one would associate this pleasant scent with the fact that its raw material was the remains of a parasitic monster created by an Alien Evil God from a fallen nation that had possessed a human body out of extreme hatred for human civilization.
After Jier sniffed it, his spirit was immediately refreshed, but that was not all. The pharmacist applied the Ointment in his hand directly to Jier's head and face. As soon as the Ointment touched his face, there was a warm sensation, but soon Jier felt his head and consciousness become exceptionally clear.
He opened his eyes. Even though it was night, he could see every detail in the surrounding dark corners. Any flow of air brushing against the fine hairs on his face could be clearly sensed, including the direction and movement of the wind.
He could even feel the surrounding earth slightly reflecting the large amount of heat it had received during the day back toward the sky, projecting it into the deep sky through the clear night. This effect was not a simple increase in his sensory abilities, but rather, after his spirit was elevated, it clearly reflected details he had not previously noticed to his mind, and his consciousness could accurately identify them.
"How is it, my lord?"
After applying it, the Herbalist took two steps back and asked curiously.
Jier muttered: "Feels pretty good, let me try Meditation and see."
Having said that, Jier closed his eyes and relaxed his body, while his spirit naturally emptied itself in an extremely clear state, then he felt the interior of his body and even the depths of his spiritual consciousness.
Unlike the hazy and unclear state of the past, Jier clearly felt the various internal powers within his body.
His reliable body, forged through training, was operating in an orderly fashion with his breathing.
In his hollow heart area, the ring from the Elf Spirit was replacing his heart, providing orderly and powerful blood pressure to the blood flowing throughout his body, allowing him to function normally.
In the intestines within his abdominal cavity, the dinner he had just eaten was quickly being digested, and the intestines even grumbled with dissatisfaction, seemingly wanting more nutrient-rich food. Such as monster meat.
Besides this, he could clearly feel the dense, invisible seals of Magic Power on his skin. These Magic Powers were distributed beneath his skin and above his muscle tissue under even more obscure and mysterious seals. What was even more magical was that the mysterious sealing ability was actively guiding a portion of the Magic Beast Magic to the Magic Power Amplification Armguard on his left arm.
With just a thought, it seemed he could activate this Magic Tool at any time, thereby amplifying his strength by a little over 1.2 times its current state.
Not only that, he was also wearing two Magic Rings on his fingers that he had just bought from Yamila. These Magic Tools, which clearly required a password to activate, seemed to be directly activatable using Magic Beast Magic without him needing to speak a password after being actively contacted by that mysterious seal.
But after all, Magic Beast Magic is a rather crude form of Magic power, incomparable to the refined Magic Power of Mages. If he were to let the Magic Beast Magic under the control of the seal directly supply some precise and efficient Magic Tools, it seemed that after activating the Magic Tools for a short time, the Magic Beast Magic would cause these precious items to be damaged.
In addition to these, Jier could also feel the two powerful blessings of Divine Power from the Agricultural God on his stomach and ribs. Especially the blessing ability personally bestowed by the Agricultural God on his stomach; after Jier used it once, its consumption was almost negligible.
This gave Jier some different associations.
As for the 【Grass and Wood Source】 blessing ability on his ribs, about half of its Divine Power had been consumed, and Jier would still be able to use it for a period of time.
Besides these two, there was also a Power Seed of the Agricultural God's Divine Power within his body. This thing used to be vaguely connected to his Agricultural God Church sixth-rank protection badge and a Wooden Bracelet given to him by an Old Priest of the Agricultural God, but now those two items were damaged, and this Power Seed was now connected to the two blessing abilities that also belonged to the Agricultural God's Divine Power, seemingly having the ability to amplify and extend the former two.
Besides these, within the muscles of Jier's entire body, there also existed a large amount of Divine Power from the Dwarf God of Strength. These Divine Powers, which felt full of strength and momentum, were just coiled within the muscles all over his body, not operating, seemingly running on their own in a way Jier did not understand.
And in his right eye, a completely pitch-black shadow Divine Power was coiled there. The intensity of this power was not high, but in terms of the essence of the power, it was more formidable than the others bestowed upon him by gods within his body.
Because this was a portion of the core essence of a god that Jier had seized from the god's hands through combat. Although the blessing ability personally bestowed by the Agricultural God had a higher total amount of Divine Power and was mysterious and complex, it was generally a fixed application ability. The ring left to him by the Elf Spirit made Jier understand even less; it seemed that the thing was directly connected to the god, and through it, he could even communicate directly with that lady.
Only the 【God's Shadow Bird】 ability in Jier's right eye was like an opened box; what could be inside was entirely decided by Jier himself as to what he put into the box.
This was a special ability controlled by himself and more closely connected to his Spirit.
Thinking of this, Jier already understood something.
The blessing ability bestowed upon him by the Agricultural God was the Agricultural God's power; Jier only had the right to use it, but not the right to change or control it. It was like a packaged game software; you can play the game, but you have no ability to change the game's content.
As for the things and abilities given to him by the Elf Spirit, the other party could take them back at any time. After all, they were not Jier's, and were not even bestowed upon Jier, but were completely controlled directly by the other party. Since that ring also served as Jier's heart, Jier's own life and death were in the hands of that lady.
Fortunately, that was an Elf Spirit, which prevented Jier from becoming a remote-controlled puppet under the god's command or a loyal dog running around to survive. Elves themselves have a unique concept of time compared to other intelligent life forms due to their long lifespans, and the lady, as a more primordial Elf, had an endless lifespan, so her concept of time was very different from that of the current Elves.
Not to mention that as an Elf Spirit, her Divine Status, abilities, and attitude toward the world and the universe were all different from those of Elves and primordial Elves. Her concept of time was even stranger.
Perhaps her connection with Jier was beyond her own expectations. Although she wanted to cultivate Jier as her subordinate, by the time she remembered Jier's existence, a hundred or two hundred years might have already passed.
Jier had a premonition that if he just lived his life normally, perhaps by the time he died, this lady might not even remember that she had once cultivated a little Human Warrior with whom she had a connection.
Perhaps after Jier died of old age, she would realize that in such a short moment, this little sprout Jier had not yet grown into a big tree, so how could his lifespan have come to an end and he had aged and died?
Jier sank his stimulated spirit into his consciousness. First, he recalled some of his experiences during these days in his wandering consciousness, then he couldn't help but think of some memories and knowledge stories from his previous life. Afterwards, when his spirit became calmer and deeper, he sank into a pitch-black wilderness.
On this wilderness in the night, he sat on a stone stool, beside a campfire that was burning vigorously, and everything around was calm.
No, there was the sound of wings flapping in the distance.
This was originally a very faint sound, but because it was so quiet around, it seemed clear.
Flap, flap. Two pitch-black birds with shiny, beautiful feathers flew over from the distance. They were not afraid of the bright light and heat of the campfire and landed directly on Jier, with one even boldly standing on top of Jier's head.
"Caw!"
The one on his head called out and affectionately lowered its head to use its beak to groom Jier's messy hair.
"Hello! Hello to you both!" Jier held the two large pitch-black birds in his arms.
He clearly realized that these two birds, one large and one small, were the manifestation of his Shadow Bird ability in his Spirit.
"Have you two been eating your fill lately?"
Jier asked. There was silence all around; clearly, there were no lingering souls or grudges from the various Defeated Soldiers he had killed before. It was obvious that these uninvited guests had been spontaneously dealt with by the Shadow Birds.
"Caw!" "Caw-caw!"
The two large birds chirped, seemingly indicating they were full, yet they still felt hungry.
"But there's nothing to be done about it for now. The recent enemies have all been Monsters, and they don't possess the vigorous Spirit that Humans have, which allows them to haunt those who killed them after death."
Jier explained, which made the two large birds somewhat dissatisfied, as they gently pecked at Jier's hand with their beaks.
"Haha, there will be more later; I'm even worried you won't be able to eat them all by then."
After soothing the two large birds, Jier stood up and walked around the area for a while, but he did not stray far from the campfire because he had a premonition that if he walked to a position far away or even out of sight of the campfire, his consciousness at this moment would sink deeper into the depths of his own consciousness, entering some unexpected places.
"I'm leaving. You two rest yourselves. Later, if you occasionally see enemies entering this place, remember to peck them hard for me!"
"Caw!"
"Caw-caw."
Afterward, Jier sat back down on the stone stool he had arrived on and closed his eyes within his consciousness; when he opened his eyes again.
He had already returned to the real world.
The faint stench of corpses was all around, along with the fresh, fragrant scent of plant sap.
The Herbalist Mr. Zuojigela was standing not far away, rubbing his palms together, looking at Jier with eyes full of anticipation.
"My lord? How does it feel? Is there a helpful effect for Meditation?"
He asked expectantly.
Jier nodded affirmatively: "This thing is very useful. Mr. Zuojigela, we have struck it rich this time!"
Unexpectedly, the Herbalist smiled: "My lord? It is you, not us. It should be you who has struck it rich."
But Jier just smiled and said firmly: "I did not misspeak; it is, we, who have struck it rich."
Only then did the Herbalist Zuojigela realize that Jier was serious, and was actually willing to share this opportunity, which clearly looked valuable, with him.
