Chapter 576: Yamila's Magic Tool Creations, Activating the Magic Power Energy Within
It didn't take long before Yamila walked down, carrying an expensive purple silk bag.
She shook the bag in her hand triumphantly, letting the items inside make a crisp clinking sound.
"Come and take a look! These are all my proudest works! Although I only learned a few tricks from a companion who specializes in Magic Tool production, I still received praise from my teacher!"
Yamila said with a grin. She walked to the center of the hall and snapped her fingers. Without needing to say a word, a slightly thick, small white hand reached out from under the wooden floor, pulled a spliced log table from the ground beside the hall, and lifted it between Jier and Yamila.
The floor here opened downward, and then a base with a socket extended out, docking perfectly with the lowered log table.
Click.
There seemed to be a mechanism fixing the docking point; after a light sound, it was firmly secured.
Afterward, the thick little hand retracted back under the wooden floor, and Yamila dumped the purple silk bag in her hand onto the table, clattering out more than a dozen Magic Tools of various sizes.
These items were shiny; there were gold and silver rings inlaid with Gems, thick steel bracelets with crystals inlaid on the inside, triangular metal pieces inlaid with Gems, large pieces of peculiar minerals that had been trimmed, and pendant Gems that looked like eyes.
Among them, the gold and silver rings were the most numerous, while there was only one of each of the other types of items.
"Take a look! These are all Magic Tools I made myself. Many people want to spend money to buy them, but I don't give many people that chance!"
Yamila rubbed her hands and separated the various Magic Tools on the table one by one. She even arranged a few of the rings, seemingly ranking them by quality.
Jier examined these items, but couldn't tell anything, nor did he know their respective functions or power, so he said with a smile on his face: "I can't tell anything just by looking. How about you give me a brief introduction? If the function and price are suitable, buying one or two on the spot is fine. However, many of these use Gems as raw materials for Magic Tools; the cost of the materials alone must be quite high, right?"
Yamila sighed: "That's for sure. To make a qualified work, I consumed quite a few rare Gems back and forth. I don't even know how many rubies alone were shattered. If it weren't for my teacher having a small mine that produces Gems, learning Magic Tool production would be much harder."
Jier blinked: "It sounds like Mages are all very wealthy?"
"The expenses are high too. Anyway, let's not talk about that. Look, these three are the ones I made initially; they don't count for much. They can only emit light, the Gems are scattered red and blue Gems, and the ring bases are also cheaper silver."
Yamila pointed to the three silver Gem rings at the very bottom of the row—one ruby and two sapphire rings. However, these Gems were roughly polished and irregular in shape, clearly not having been carefully ground, and beneath the small, scattered Gems were the less expensive silver rings.
"Would it be convenient to demonstrate? I actually really need this kind of lighting object that can emit light. You saw it just now; to move normally while active in the forest at night, I have to use some means to see in the dark, which is too troublesome. If these things of yours are easy to use, I'll take all of these rings."
Jier pointed outside the Magic Cabin, signaling the Divine Power Creation he had released earlier, which was the Shadow Bird.
Yamila was slightly surprised to hear Jier's words: "Eh? You want them all? These things can only emit some simple light, and the light isn't strong. Plus, my level wasn't up to par when I first made them; the ruby rings can only emit red light, and the sapphires can only emit blue light. The common bright white light or warm light only comes with later rings."
But seeing Jier gesture for her to demonstrate, she didn't stand on ceremony. It would be great to sell these flawed early works this way; after all, in her magic circle, nobody would even take these if given away for free.
Even a new Magic Apprentice who had just arrived at the Magic Tower to study magic could make Magic Tools of this level after two or three years of study.
Yamila picked up a ruby ring. Instead of putting it on her finger, she held it with her fingers. After a slight flash of magic light on her hand, the ruby ring suddenly lit up with a glowing red light.
Mimi also adjusted the lighting brightness in the wooden cabin hall at the right time, making the red light from the ring in Yamila's hand appear more obvious.
"Hmm, it's alright. In a completely pitch-black environment, it should be able to illuminate a range of three or four meters. If there is other light, like moonlight, it's enough for a single person or a small team to move through the dark."
Jier evaluated.
But he noticed a slight magic fluorescence glowing on Yamila's hand, so he asked this question.
Yamila gave an awkward smile: "Sorry, these rings are, after all, the Magic Tools I made when I first started. It only has the function of converting Magic Power into illumination, and the energy required even has to be provided by the user themselves."
Jier's eyes shifted: "In other words, ordinary people are completely unable to use it?"
"Ha, that's right..." Yamila gave a bitter smile.
"Then can I use it?" Jier knew he had a strand of Magic Power from a Magic Beast in his body, but this thing had previously only provided energy for the lady's ring, responsible for assisting him in entering and exiting the lady's dreams, and maintaining the flow of blood for his missing heart.
Yamila generously handed the ring in her hand to Jier. As soon as the ring left Yamila's finger, the red light emitted by the scattered ruby on the ring face disappeared, and after Jier took it in his hand, the thing had no reaction.
"That shouldn't be..." Yamila frowned as she looked at Jier's hand. In her perception, inside the fingers Jier used to pinch the ring, there was a powerful Magic Power she could clearly sense, but it was as if it had been obscured by something; this Magic Power flowed slowly within Jier's body and had no reaction.
"It seems I still have to use some Magic Tools that can be actively activated." Jier shrugged and was about to put the ring back on the table, but Yamila reached out her finger, which was emitting magic fluorescence, and took the initiative to touch the ruby ring in Jier's hand.
The ruby ring immediately emitted red light, but at the same time, a layer of something composed of countless tiny characters appeared on the surface of Jier's palm skin. This thing was like a flowing tattoo, appearing and disappearing on the surface of Jier's skin, seemingly revealed only because it was stimulated by the Magic Power on Yamila.
"Huh?" Yamila blinked her eyes and asked curiously.
Jier immediately said: "Don't ask me, I don't know anything about this." Jier truly didn't know. At the time, he had invaded the Magic Organ of the spider-type Magic Beast and was directly knocked unconscious by the beast's powerful Magic Power. While he was unconscious, the Old Fairy appeared and timely deployed this sealing method, which had long been lost in the river of time.
The origin of this sealing method could no longer be verified, and the civilization that used it had even vanished in the river of time. Nowadays, only the fairies, who did not know what time was, still knew how to use this method.
Although Yamila was curious, she clearly knew that being blindly curious about others' secrets would cause trouble, so she didn't say much about it. She only explained: "I can feel that there is actually a powerful Magic Power in your body, but it seems to be restricted by this thing. Simple Magic Tools like this ring should, in theory, easily take effect as long as they come into contact with Magic Power. Because its magic structure is too simple, anything with a bit of Magic Power can activate it."
After speaking, she retracted her finger, but the ruby ring in Jier's hand continued to emit red light.
"See! I was right! Even with the restriction of this unknown method, it can still utilize that Magic Power in your body. Actually, there are benefits to such simple things. Hmm, I really am amazing!"
She nodded complacently, as if she had expected this situation to happen all along.
Jier didn't pay much attention to the glowing ring in his hand. He glanced at Yamila's retracted finger; the soft, cool sensation when the other party's finger touched his palm made his mind waver slightly.
Because when he arrived in this different world, this body was only fifteen or sixteen years old, and now it was estimated to be only about seventeen. A person's mental state is clearly influenced by their physical state. He hadn't felt it much before, but at this moment, he suddenly realized that his body was a sixteen or seventeen-year-old youth, and a robust, healthy male youth at that.
Of course, Jier only sighed about this in his heart for a moment before shifting his attention to the glowing ruby ring in his hand.
"It seems you were right, I can indeed use this kind of Magic Tool. But why didn't it work before you poked it with your hand just now?"
Yamila thought distressingly: "Perhaps it needs a needle-like trigger? I haven't seen the method you have on your body for restricting Magic Power in any books, nor have I heard my teacher mention it, but I estimate it is extraordinary. It is flowing, active, and even long-term invisible and hidden; naturally, it has a certain complexity. It should be able to identify and control the use of the Magic Power in your body, just like a sluice gate—it can close, open, and automatically control where to open and how much water flow to release. Otherwise, just for restricting and sealing Magic Power, I know of many other simple methods, rather than using such a mysterious and complex means."
Jier nodded. He didn't understand the principles of these magics, but the other party was a professional magic user. In the absence of a conflict of interest, he would naturally trust the judgment of a professional.
Afterward, he put down the ruby ring in his hand, and the ring immediately stopped glowing.
He picked up the sapphire ring on the side, and the ring didn't glow immediately either.
Jier and Yamila looked at each other. Just as Yamila was about to reach out her finger with magic fluorescence again, the sapphire ring in Jier's hand emitted a bright blue light.
This blue light was brighter than the red light from just a moment ago. Jier noticed this, and Yamila naturally noticed it too.
She explained: "I remember this was the second batch of Magic Tools I made later, so don't look at the raw materials being similar; in fact, the Magic Array I carved into the Gems is already quite different in terms of technique and complexity."
She then clapped her hands together: "Ha, it seems you can use all these simple Magic Tools that require the user to provide energy. They aren't expensive either; I'll sell them to you for ten Ogle Gold Coins each!"
Jier's face twitched. He remembered the other party saying that the exchange rate between Ogle Gold Coins and Saint Hors Kingdom Gold Coins was one to one point two. Ten Ogle Gold Coins would be twelve Saint Hors Kingdom Gold Coins.
Too expensive.
"Isn't that a bit too expensive? The silver ring setting isn't worth much, and the scattered small Gems aren't worth much either. To be honest, if they couldn't really emit light, I doubt anyone would think they were Magic Tools if shown to just anyone, right?"
Yamila pulled a long face: "But they are Magic Tools! And they are Magic Tools personally made by this young lady! You can use them as soon as you pick them up. Look at this room full of blue light; this illumination is enough for a team of five?"
Jier didn't hold back on bargaining: "But they can only be used by me, while the others under my command can't use them at all. Their utility value is discounted because of that. Miss Austin, you probably aren't keeping them to commemorate your first few magic works, but because they can't be traded, right?"
Jier hit the nail on the head, leaving Yamila speechless.
She stammered, wanting to offer a few words of defense, but she really couldn't say anything, because just as Jier said, these three gemstone rings used cheap silver for the settings, and the gemstones on the ring faces were also tiny, irregular particles; let alone calling them Magic Tools, even the wedding tokens crafted by residents in the town used more material than these three rings.
To call them Magic Tools was simply challenging people's expensive perception of Magic Tools.
"Fine, then let's lower it a bit, eight Ogle Gold Coins! Lowering the price by twenty percent at once, I'm generous enough, aren't I?" Yamila put on an unhappy face, though she was actually secretly delighted inside, because the raw material cost for these three rings was less than one Gold Coin each, and her own labor in making them could be ignored, as they were merely the results of her learning to craft Magic Tools.
Being able to sell these things that even her fellow Magic Apprentice peers didn't want was simply a huge profit.
But Jier tapped the tabletop with his hand: "Payment in Saint Hors Kingdom Gold Coins; I don't have any of your country's Ogle Gold Coins. I am from the Saint Hors Kingdom, and my money pouch only contains Saint Hors Kingdom Gold Coins."
Upon hearing this, Yamila was even more annoyed, because this meant her income would decrease by quite a bit.
But Jier insisted on paying this way, and after rummaging through his person, he took out a Gold Coin. It was indeed a Saint Hors Kingdom Gold Coin; the portrait of the Kingdom's Regent on it was smiling, seemingly satisfied with Jier's haggling, and also mocking this Ophirine Kingdom Magic Apprentice.
Taking a deep breath, Yamila, in order to get rid of these unsellable 'Magic Tools' as quickly as possible, finally agreed to Jier's terms.
"Fine, eight Saint Hors Kingdom Gold Coins, three rings, twenty-four Gold Coins in total. Please bring them out; you can take the rings now as well."
Yamila reached out her hand, somewhat impatiently asking Jier for the payment.
But Jier raised his hand and pushed hers back, taking the opportunity to stroke her soft, cool little hand while saying: "Don't be in such a hurry. Aren't there still so many Magic Tools here? These are all your proud works, right? Hurry and introduce them all. I'll see what else I want, and pay you all at once at the end."
Hearing this, Yamila immediately wore a smile, impatiently wanting to introduce the other Magic Tools to Jier.
But Jier sat back down: "Don't be so anxious, Miss Austin. The snacks for the tea are gone, and this tea is also a bit cold..."
Yamila understood immediately, clapped her hands twice, and spoke to the Spirit of the Magic Cabin: "Mimi, hurry and make some more of your signature tea snacks. Take this pot of Flower Tea away too, and use the Heating Crystal Pot in your cabinet to bring up a pot of fresh Lemon Flower Tea."
"Mi?"
Mimi seemed somewhat reluctant, but Yamila spoke up: "I know that is tea ware that only the teacher can use, but the teacher gave you instructions before, right? To take good care of my life. Ahem, now, I need that Magic-heated Crystal Pot to have a pot of freshly brewed Lemon Flower Tea with my new friend!"
"Mi!"
The Magic Cabin immediately complied. A painting firmly embedded in the wall on one side of the hall retracted into the wall, and then, amidst complex mechanical shifts, a glass cabinet protected by Magic was pushed out into the position where the painting had been.
With a click, the glass cabinet protected by Magic opened automatically. Inside were arranged utensils that looked very high-end and expensive at a glance, including plates covered in complex patterns, gold knives, forks, and spoons, as well as water bottles made of large pieces of crystal, and so on.
Two slender white little hands reached out from the ceiling, carefully taking the Magic-heatable Crystal Water bottle from the glass cabinet, and the two 'hands' carried this thing into the wooden door on the side of the hall.
Over by that wooden door, there seemed to be some little hands busy making new snacks; the sounds of things being made in an orderly fashion briefly rang out from the opening and closing wooden door.
Jier withdrew his gaze and gestured for Yamila to introduce the other Magic Tools.
