Chapter 598: The Monster's Dead End, Chaos in the Camp
This guy, wearing the Soldier Armor of the sentry soldier, walked over with a smile on his face and a relaxed air.
Its gaze lingered repeatedly on the dead sentry soldier nearby, but it spent more time greedily sizing up Jier and Xueya Site.
"Roar, roar, roar, isn't this my good brother? How did you get trapped on the ground by humans today, helpless like a wounded fawn whimpering in pain? Pitiful. Hahaha, you really should see what you look like now, compared to how proud you used to be; it's definitely the most laughable thing."
As soon as this guy arrived, it seemed not to take Jier and the other into account at all, only blindly mocking its Shapeshifting Monster companion.
The Shapeshifting Monster trapped on the ground, who had originally wanted to warn its companion to run, now felt bitter after hearing the mockery. It ignored its companion's taunts and instead struggled to say to Jier: "I beg you, let me live to see it beaten down and begging for mercy, can you? This is my only wish in this life. This nasty-tempered guy should die before me!"
Jier and Xueya Site exchanged a look, both speechless; the personalities of these Shapeshifting Monsters were truly very strange.
"Do they always talk this much?" Jier asked.
Xueya Site shrugged, and he said in a relaxed tone: "I'm not sure, but this guy just now certainly talked a lot."
Jier smiled. He took something resembling a ring out of the Backpack behind him, put it on his finger, and then, with his hands empty, strode toward the newly arrived Shapeshifting Monster.
"Since they talk so much, they should go on stage and perform plays. If they become famous, I believe that even if they like to eat people, there will be loyal admirers with poor judgment willing to offer their own flesh for them to eat. What do you think?" Jier teased as he walked.
Xueya Site helplessly rubbed the spot on his head where he had been hit earlier; the area was already swollen, painful to the touch, and still left him feeling dizzy: "Perhaps. Jier, you didn't take a weapon!"
Jier actually carried weapons; the Magic Dagger at his waist, the weak Electric Shock Ring he had just put on, and even he himself were the finest weapons.
"I got some fun things last night, let me show you now! Hehe."
Jier strode toward the Shapeshifting Monster, and the monster stood arrogantly in place, waiting for Jier to come up and throw his life away.
But as Jier approached, its expression changed.
Because Jier was wearing thick armor made of layers of Metal Armor Plate, which basically covered his entire body; relying solely on its own claws, the monster could basically do nothing against this kind of human metal Armor.
Although it wasn't impossible to fight, it was very troublesome.
And what truly made the monster wary was the confidence and intense aura on Jier, as if compared to the human opposite it, the other was the true monster, while it was merely a young, small animal.
"Looking down on me?" The monster stopped pretending to be human; the hair on its head stood on end, and its eyes were no longer the common brown or blue pupils of a human, but turned into deep, pitch-black, writhing eye sockets. Its mouth opened wide, the fake human teeth inside retracted, and then the flesh in its oral cavity flipped over, revealing a large number of hidden, tiny, sharp teeth.
It let out a terrifying hiss from its throat, a dreadful sound that could make ordinary people collapse to the ground upon hearing it.
Its arms also became thick and sturdy, and black, sharp claws emerged from the tips of every finger; there was no doubt that if a human body were touched by these claws, it would be easily torn to shreds.
But Jier only sized up this transformation and, after judging the opponent's strength, smiled contemptuously.
"Is that it?"
The next moment, Jier stared fixedly at the monster opposite him, releasing his killing intent and aura to envelop it.
The monster froze for a moment, and then its entire body stiffened.
Its body trembled slightly, and it realized in an instant that in the course of slaughter, it was completely no match for the human in front of it.
It turned and ran.
But just as its feet began to move, Jier raised his right hand, and a thin, pale-blue flash of electricity flickered and vanished.
Although the electric light was thin and weak, it was not something a flesh-and-blood creature could directly withstand. After a crackling sound, the monster immediately collapsed to the ground, trembling all over.
It struggled to get up, but Jier only moved his finger slightly, and another thin bolt of electricity struck it.
Zzzzz—
This time the electricity did not stop, causing the monster to twitch all over, its limbs twisting and contracting before snapping straight again, looking extremely bizarre.
"Look, isn't this interesting?" Jier turned his head to look at Xueya Site and asked in a cheerful tone.
Xueya Site was stunned; it wasn't that he hadn't seen Jier use magic weapons before, but this still surprised him—just by raising a hand, the monster he found difficult to defeat was simply beaten to the ground like this.
"No, this, this, this..." He was somewhat incoherent.
And the Shapeshifting Monster on the ground, trapped by two weapons, shouted excitedly with its mouth open: "Yes, yes, yes, that's it, that's it! The guy who mocked me deserves to end up like this! Put in more effort, beat that mouth of his crooked!"
Jier turned his head to look at it, and the monster immediately shut its mouth.
After walking up, Jier stepped on the still-trembling monster, then exerted force with his palm, tearing the opponent's left arm, right arm, left leg, and right leg off alive.
When dealing with non-human monsters, one cannot hold back, nor can one judge the opponent's threat using human concepts.
Jier used heavy force, but the wounds where the monster's limbs were severed did not bleed much, only a small amount of black liquid flowed out before stopping.
Holding the monster by the hair on its head with one hand, Jier picked it up to examine it closely.
"Spare me... spare me..."
The monster was terrified; its mouth was twisted from the electric shocks, and it could only say this one sentence.
"How do you kill you Shapeshifting Monsters? Can you be killed by cutting off your head?" Jier threw the monster at his feet, not letting its disgusting mouth face him, fearing it might spit acid or something to launch a final, disgusting strike before death.
Hearing Jier's question, the trapped Shapeshifting Monster hesitated, but thinking that it was likely finished anyway, it could suffer less torture and fewer torments from these humans.
Thus, it gave up and shouted: "Burn us! We can survive decapitation! As long as larger limbs remain on our bodies, we can survive! Burn us! Just burn us!"
Jier raised his eyebrows, looking at the monster's limbs torn off on the ground; he had almost let these monsters escape a disaster.
So Jier took the monster's body and limbs, walked back, and threw them on the ground.
"Clear away the leaves on this patch of ground." Jier instructed Xueya Site, while he himself turned to tear off the limbs of the trapped monster, piling the bodies of both monsters together.
After the leaves were cleared away, amidst the mutual cursing of the two monsters, Jier put away the Hunting Sword and Dwarf Long Spear, took out the 【Heart Fire】 Magic Dagger from his waist, rubbed the bright red Gems on the dagger, and uttered a word: "Scorching!"
A red light flashed on the dagger, and then Magic Power sparks quickly emerged from the blade, transforming into scorching flames at the tip of the dagger, which gushed forward violently.
Interestingly, the Magic Fire of the dagger had previously been white and scorching, looking quite normal, but the Magic Dagger, now charged with Magic Power by the Magic Apprentice Yamila, emitted Magic Fire that was slightly blue; the scorching white flames were now rimmed with blue flame ripples.
It was hard to say if it was more powerful or not as good as before.
Because the two monsters, roasted by the flames spewed from the Magic Dagger, turned into charred lumps of meat in no time, and after that, they became a pile of high-temperature black ash.
When the flames first sprayed onto them, those limbs that had been motionless actually emitted faint screams, twisting and flailing about in an attempt to escape, but without complete bodies, they turned to ash after only a few moments. As for the main bodies of the two Shapeshifting Monsters, one wailed and cursed, while the other let out excited laughter, and both died together as companions.
Seeing that they had all turned to fly ash, Jier turned off the Magic Dagger.
"Sigh, the monsters I find difficult to deal with and can't even beat, you, Jier, beat to the ground so easily; it seems I really have no aptitude for combat." Xueya Site sighed and threw the few monster fingers he had picked up into the pile of scorching ash on the ground.
The soil on the ground had been slightly scorched and melted by the Magic Fire; these small fingers, once thrown in, immediately caught fire and charred and withered from the outside in.
"Don't say that; it's mainly because you were too panicked during the fight and didn't find the right way to defeat the enemy."
Jier comforted him and pointed to the sentry soldier's platform not far away: "You should have climbed up there first and used the situation where there was only one path up and down the tree to knock it down with the Heavy Crossbow."
He gestured and said, "When it comes up, you use a crossbow to shoot it down, and while it's getting back up to climb again, you can reload the Heavy Crossbow."
"So it won't be able to get over for a while?" Xueya Site suddenly realized, never having thought it could be done this way.
He had only been thinking about running away or fighting back at the time, never imagining he could utilize the enemy soldiers' terrain to temporarily deal with the transformed Monster.
"Actually, it's my fault too. I didn't expect that you killing the sentry Soldier would actually attract those transformed Monsters that were sleeping soundly. It's all my fault for designing the battle plan without fully understanding the habits of this kind of Monster, almost getting you killed. Sorry."
Jier took off his Helmet, scratched his head, and chuckled.
Xueya Site punched Jier on the shoulder: "Alright, if you hadn't arrived in time, I would have been done for."
Jier smiled even more awkwardly: "Actually, actually I arrived earlier, right when you were using the Soldier Bow to shoot at the defending Monster. I heard the alarm whistle coming from here and rushed over."
"Then wouldn't the others have heard the alarm whistle?" Xueya Site was shocked.
Waving his hand, Jier reassured him: "Don't worry, my hearing is sharp, so I heard the whistle coming from the Forest, while the enemy Soldiers in the nearby Jiedian, who are busy confronting each other, don't have the time to care about what's happening here."
"So, what exactly happened in the Jiedian?" Xueya Site was a bit curious; he hadn't used his Telescope to watch the enemies for half the morning, so what had happened to the enemies?
A short while ago, inside the enemy Jiedian.
The Villagers in the Mine, following Jier's instructions, all retreated into the Mine to stay active, eating their fill and sleeping, and those who were idle went to dig in the former territory of the alien Beast, mainly to let them build up their strength.
And in the Jiedian outside the Mine, things were much livelier.
"Whose Tent is this! Whose Tent is this?!!"
Adjutant Piluo loudly questioned the Soldiers who had gathered around to watch.
Many Soldiers who knew whose Tent it was either showed strange expressions or whispered to each other. As for the Captain Yeluba, after his subordinates reminded him, his expression turned ugly.
This Tent was the Tent of his loyal subordinate, and the bloodstains extended all the way from the deceased's tent to here; what this indicated was self-evident.
It was his subordinates who, after last night's events, had acted behind his back against the Soldiers who had leaned toward Adjutant Piluo.
He understood these people's thoughts, but understanding was one thing; you couldn't act behind his back and do such a sloppy job of it!
"A bunch of idiots, I still have to clean up your mess." After gritting his teeth and cursing in a low voice, Yeluba felt he had to use his backup plan.
"This Tent is the Tent of Kongda and Bolisi! And both of them are the Captain's close subordinates!!" In the crowd, someone loudly shouted out what many people dared not say.
Yeluba turned his head to look, but the person who spoke had already shrunk back into the crowd; he didn't know which brat didn't fear trouble and had suddenly poked the matter out! Damn it!
Upon hearing this, Adjutant Piluo stared at Yeluba, pointed at the slight bloodstains on the ground, and loudly questioned: "Then please, our Captain, let the two of them come out for a confrontation."
Before Yeluba could say anything, a tall Soldier with disheveled hair named Kongda stood out from the crowd: "I am Kongda, I didn't do it! Don't you dare slander me!"
Beside him, another Soldier was pushed out of the crowd by the others; this Soldier named Bolisi had a well-proportioned build, his face flushed red, his right hand tightly gripping his Long Sword hilt, glaring at Adjutant Piluo.
"Don't slander me either! Otherwise, my sword won't agree!"
Adjutant Piluo was actually happy in his heart to hear their tough response, but he didn't show it on his face; he just raised his hand to attract the attention of the surrounding Soldiers and said loudly: "Whether it's slander or not, we must speak with evidence! Everyone has seen it; the bloodstains on the ground extended all the way from the victims' tent to here, and then disappeared! If it wasn't you, then tell me, where did the footprints go? They didn't just crawl into your Tent without you knowing, did they?"
"That's right, after what happened yesterday, who wouldn't be careful sleeping at night? How could they let a stranger crawl into their Tent?" someone shouted loudly.
Other Soldiers also teased: "Who knows, whether that's the case, only the two of them know best!"
"What nonsense are you spouting!" Bolisi shouted sternly.
But Kongda, who didn't look emotionally agitated, instead silently took a step forward and suddenly swung his fist to strike.
But everyone was wearing Soldier Armor, and simply using one's hand to strike the Armor caused no damage, instead making the scene very chaotic for a time.
People pulling and fighting, people swinging fists in the chaos, people shouting not to fight, people shouting to fight—it was a complete mess.
Captain Yeluba stared at the chaotic situation before him with an ugly expression and viciously shouted at Adjutant Piluo beside him: "Is this the situation you wanted? A complete mess?"
Adjutant Piluo also returned a fierce look: "People are dead, there has to be an explanation, right? Or are you trying to shield the two of them? Why don't you have your men bring the situation under control?"
Yeluba didn't speak, and the Soldiers who came with him didn't move; they neither added to the chaos nor had any intention of stopping the crowd, all looking at Yeluba, waiting for his orders.
At this moment, the Soldier who had been sent out by Yeluba earlier trotted back and immediately whispered something into Yeluba's ear. Upon hearing the other's words, Yeluba finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He drew his Long Sword from his waist with a clang, held it high, and shouted: "Everyone stop!!"
His subordinates behind him also drew their swords, held them high, and shouted: "Did you all hear that? The Captain says for everyone to stop! Everyone stop!"
