Chapter 99: The God Arrives in Person, Resurrection, and Rewards
The earthquake persisted, but after Jier felt these tremors for a moment, he unexpectedly discovered that the source of the tremors was actually the rock layer above their heads.
He did not know exactly what was happening above, but Jier guessed that it was likely the Hunting God, who had just blown up the Evil God's spiritual body, doing something. Speaking of the Evil God, after being blown up twice in succession, it seemed to have learned its lesson and no longer tried to gather its divine spiritual image together, but instead dispersed it evenly within the range limited by the Duel Magic Arrow.
It even deliberately kept most of its spiritual presence close to where the Church Priests and Church Hunters were, attempting to use the Hunting God's subordinates to avoid harm from the Hunting God.
Looking from afar, the place where Jier and the others were gathered at this moment looked as if it were soaked in a mass of green fog. Every breath of air they were breathing at this moment might very well contain a part of the Evil God's spiritual presence.
Realizing this, Jier held his breath in disgust, although the others around him were breathing normally and seemed not to care about this.
The earthquake tremors from above lasted for a while and grew larger; large chunks of rock from the ceiling of the Underground Karst Cave cracked and fell to the ground. Fortunately, Jier and the others had already moved far away from the core area of the Altar where the tremors were most violent.
The next moment, thick, brownish-red illusory palms pierced through the rock layer, and then an incredible scene appeared.
The palms, which were originally illusory and could pass through rock, actually became solid, grabbed the rock layer at the top of the Rongdong, and pulled upward fiercely.
With a clatter and a rumbling roar, thousands of tons of rock were scooped away by the giant illusory hand in one go.
That thing was even more terrifying and powerful than the most robust excavator; not only was its strength immeasurable, but its speed was lightning fast. Before the tremors had ended, the giant hand came again. After repeating this a few times, it directly hollowed out the rock layer above the Underground Altar, and bright light from above shone through this huge pit into the Underground Karst Cave, which had never been touched by sunlight before.
The next moment, Jier saw the upper body of a massive giant drill in upside down through the huge opening in the ceiling of the Rongdong.
What a massive giant this was; half of its shoulder alone was larger than the entire Stalactite Altar. The entire arm it reached in firmly occupied a large area of the surrounding open space, and at this moment, it was waving back and forth, as if it were scooping up something.
The giant arm swept past Jier and the others. Jier even let out a scream of fear at this moment, which made the surrounding Church Hunters burst into laughter.
Sure enough, although the giant arm with infinite power was formidable, it was like something that did not exist in reality; it just swept over the bodies of Jier and the others and did not, as Jier had imagined, crush them all into meat paste in an instant.
However, the giant arm's back-and-forth waving was not in vain. The Evil God's spiritual bodies that had originally scattered around were caught bit by bit in the giant arm's sweeping, then held in its hand and squeezed into a tree shape shrunk several hundred times over.
The giant's eyes, which were larger than a small car, looked at the Evil God's spiritual body caught in its palm. This thing was already in despair at this moment, constantly radiating spiritual fluctuations to its surroundings, and what Jier and the others "heard" was the name and title of this Evil God.
Clearly, this Alien Evil God also realized that it was about to die—not falling, but being eaten into the stomach of this even more terrifying Hunting God and being completely devoured.
The reality was just as it had thought.
The giant stared coldly at the tiny Evil God spiritual body in its palm for a moment, seemingly evaluating the core Divine Essence and other more intrinsic things of this deity, and then casually tossed it into its mouth.
Munch, munch—the Alien Evil God, which had originally committed many evils, was ruthlessly dismantled of its core Divine Authority, Divine Essence, Divine Status, and all other essences possessed by a god, right there within the Hunting God's giant image.
The giant was not satisfied yet; it gathered up the Evil God's physical body that had been destroyed by Jier and the others on the Altar, and along with the cave-ceiling rock fragments that had just fallen and the Stalactite Altar made of stone, it sent them all into its equally huge mouth with its massive palm. Like the most powerful shredder, it crunched and ground up the stones, the broken Evil God flesh, and the still-burning lignified body parts of the Evil God.
The massive Hunting God did not refuse anything, sending it all into its mouth, chewing it up, and swallowing it.
It even meticulously scooped up the parts of the Evil God's flesh that had blocked the Underground River in the Rongdong and sent them into its mouth to be chewed up. It even lowered its head and lay by the Underground River next to the Altar, slurping up the Underground River, drinking its fill of water.
"Ha... ha."
The giant let out a thunderous laugh, appearing very satisfied.
And upon hearing the god's laughter, the Old Priest Mardo finally revealed a smile.
He waved his hand to summon his companions and subordinates, telling everyone to follow him.
Jier picked up the hunter who had turned into a plant for the most part with his left hand, and the poor hunter who had died a while ago due to lignification with his right hand, and also hurried to catch up.
Behind the crowd, the other Church Priests participating in this Great Hunting Ritual did not come forward at this time, and they subtly blocked Bell, who wanted to go forward.
At this moment, it was clearly time to reward merit, and Bell could of course go forward to claim credit, but he was also the Baron Heir of Sasi County. If he received a reward from the Hunting God, it would be bad for his future inclination toward the Hunting God Church in matters of Faith.
Therefore, the surrounding Church Priests subtly blocked Bell and spoke to him, preventing Bell's intention to approach.
Jier, on the other hand, followed along indifferently. Listening to the excited muttering of the other Church Hunters around him, he also understood that this was the time to receive rewards. He looked back and found that Bell and the priests of other god churches had not followed. Thinking about it, that made sense; how could priests of other churches accept a personal reward from the Hunting God?
And Bell seemed to have been part of the God of Nobility's faith system before; it was also normal if Bell did not want this reward.
Jier did not have so many concerns. Although he had been set up by the Sun God Church and became some sort of 【Sun Child】, he himself did not really acknowledge this. Even though he was still wearing the surcoat of a Divine Knight of the Sun God Church, with a Sun God White Stone Statue hanging at his waist, and a Blessed Short Staff exclusive to priests.
Inside his body, he also possessed the Divine Core of a Sun God Church priest and a not-insignificant amount of Sun God Divine Power.
But Jier still followed along.
Benefits are things you shouldn't turn down, right? Especially with so many forces involved in his body, why not make it even more chaotic?
Let the Hunting God's power join in too!
If this god is willing to give it.
Seemingly realizing that the sound of its own voice was extremely loud, the giant stopped speaking aloud and instead communicated by staring at someone with its eyes and then through spiritual exchange.
Approaching the giant that had dug out the passage from top to bottom, Jier, unlike the other church people, did not bow his head humbly out of respect for the god.
He tilted his head back, staring intently at the giant god's body.
Perhaps this was not the Hunting God's true form, but it was clearly extremely powerful, capable of easily devouring the Evil God's spiritual body that they could do nothing about.
At this moment, Jier could even see through the giant's illusory brownish-red body the Evil God's flesh and the massive amount of rock debris that had been swallowed by the giant earlier. They were all floating in the giant's chest cavity, rolling and being squeezed by the surrounding Divine Power, turning into ash and powder.
He even saw, in the center of the giant's chest cavity, the Evil God's ink-green spiritual body undergoing various changes, and then being dismantled in the flashes of Divine Power. Some core Divine Essences he had seen before were dismantled and then transported to the deeper parts of the giant's body.
At this moment, Jier realized that this massive giant possessed the terrifying ability to confront other gods. I fear that if it acted personally, even an Alien Evil God could not last a few rounds before it, and that would be the same for the true form of an Alien Evil God at full strength.
But since the Hunting God is so strong and so formidable, why does it need the church and Church Hunters under its command to be so busy organizing this Great Hunting Ritual?
"Your heart is full of doubts."
A voice rang out in Jier's mind.
Jier shuddered, turned his head, and saw that the giant's eyes were looking at him!
He immediately half-knelt, performing a knight's ritual of audience with a high-ranking noble toward the Hunting God. He stuck his Hunting Sword in front of him with his left hand, placed his right hand on his chest, and bowed his head to the god while half-kneeling.
At the same time, he thought loudly in his heart: "Yes, great Hunting God, since you are so powerful, why do you need us to help you defeat other gods with such effort? I am confused; you could completely do this yourself, right?"
The Hunting God immediately replied to Jier's question.
"Hehe, young man, at this very moment, it is not just here that a Great Hunt is taking place."
"In all the places where My church and hunters exist, the same hunting activities have been going on continuously."
"However, compared to other hunting activities, you have done well this time. I am very satisfied with this prey."
The Hunting God replied to Jier's question, although Jier still had many other questions in his heart.
He wanted to ask such a powerful god, but there were two poor fellows beside him, so he said to the god in his heart: "Great Hunting God, may I ask if you can save these two believers of yours, your hunters, beside me? They were very brave in the battle against the Evil God, and such an ending is not what such warriors should have."
"Haha, I have arrived in person, why worry?"
The next moment, the hunter on Jier's left, whose body was covered in plants, was illuminated by a green light shot from the giant's eyes. The plants that had grown on its body based on its own energy and matter all shrank back as if time were flowing backward, and turned into pure brownish-red Hunting God Divine Power, entering the body of the Church Hunter, whose body had been cold.
It not only compensated for the blood this Hunter had lost, but also additionally strengthened its origin.
This Hunter was immediately able to move, so it performed an extremely elaborate ritual to the Hunting God who had saved it.
It was unclear what it communicated with the deity, but in any case, it unexpectedly glanced at Jier beside it.
Meanwhile, the poor Hunter on the right, who had been dead for a while, was now stuck to the body by a finger extended by the Hunting God, placed before the giant face, and examined carefully.
Plentiful brownish-red Divine Power shuttled back and forth across this Hunter's body.
The next moment, this entire body, which had been lignified, softened in an instant, clearly as the body turned back into flesh and blood.
But this was not enough, because even though the body had changed from wood to flesh and blood, this person was still dead.
The electric light of Divine Power flashed over the Hunter's body, the dead corpse's heart began to thump, and autonomous breathing came back online.
Next, the Hunting God's giant eyes scanned the surroundings, then extended a finger to scoop at a corner where there was nothing, and brought a fingertip holding nothing to the side of the Hunter's revitalized body.
At this moment, everyone was watching the deity, as if afraid that the group would not understand what He was doing; the giant's fingertip flashed with the light of Divine Power, and a flickering, tiny Human Spirit was revealed on the giant's fingertip, which was thicker than a temple stone pillar.
Many people were seeing a Human Spirit for the first time, and the group had not expected that the soul of the companion who had just died would actually be found by the Hunting God just like that.
The group all realized something and held their breath.
The Hunting God brought the dead Hunter's Spirit and his body together, pop!
Just that easily, this Hunter who had been dead for a while just opened his eyes and sat up on the deity's fingertip.
"I, did I just die?"
He spoke nonsense.
Seeing this Hunter return from the dead, many people cheered excitedly.
Clearly, this kind of thing was relatively rare in previous Great Hunting Rituals; perhaps the deity was very satisfied with the 'offerings' everyone presented to the Hunting God this time?
Not only that, but other Hunters who had been injured and whose bodies had changed after being cursed by the Evil God also received miraculous treatment for their wounds and curses.
Especially that Church Hunter whose vital parts had been wounded, he knelt on both knees and knocked his head dozens of times for his deity.
It seems that for this Hunter, the safety of the little head is more important than the big head?
Next was the time to reward merit.
The giant finger pointed, and various miraculous and mysterious changes appeared.
Divine Power surged on the three Church Priests of the Hunting God Church; clearly, they had been rewarded with much Divine Power by the deity. For Church Priests, this Divine Power could almost be said to be their everything.
Whether it was Prayer, casting Divine Art, or performing simple protection, using it to directly cast offensive Divine Art, or supporting the body's health and longevity, all were closely related to the Divine Power on them.
Next were the other Church Hunters.
Clearly, every Hunter was communicating with the Hunting God on a spiritual level and had chosen the reward they should receive.
The Hunting God was so generous today; clearly, the weak Evil God that everyone presented to Him made Him very satisfied.
A Hunter knelt and held high with both hands the Hunting Bow carried on his back; the next moment, the giant fingertip projected a radiance of Divine Power, shining upon that Hunting Bow.
The shape of the Hunting Bow changed, becoming fierce and tough, and the material revealed the Hunting God's brownish-red Divine Power radiance from the inside out.
Clearly, this Hunter's wish was to strengthen his Hunting Bow.
Some Hunters stood up, opened their arms, and looked at their deity with burning eyes.
The Hunting God's fingertip Divine Power flashed, and this Hunter, who was already as tall and strong as a bear, became even taller, his bones and muscles becoming even stronger; at this moment, looking at the whole person, he was simply an Earth Violent Bear one size smaller.
Other Hunters also had various needs, and as long as they were not particularly outrageous, they were basically generously satisfied by the Hunting God.
Then it was Jier's turn.
