The new year is about to arrive, so it is only right and proper to wish all you readers a happy new year; I wish everyone happiness in the new year, good luck in the Year of the Rabbit, that the books you want to read update explosively every day, and that the authors you like start new books.

My original plan was to put this after the chapter comments, or perhaps open an extra single chapter, but now that the platform has launched an event, I naturally have to seize this opportunity.

I believe I started writing this book in August; from being ignored by everyone to stumbling along to where I am now, it has already been nearly half a year, with a word count of seven hundred thousand? I must thank all you dear readers here, especially the little friends who came over from Bilibili at the beginning; if it weren't for your support, I don't know if I could have persisted myself.

When I was making videos, there was a phrase I often kept on my lips: if others give you face, you must hold it well to be worthy of the kindness of your little friends; I hold the same thought regarding writing.

My original plan for this book was just to finish it between 600,000 and 800,000 words; as a new author, and also as a novel started because I was unwilling to give up, I felt this was a reasonable word count, but unfortunately, I overestimated my ability, and it might take a little more time to finish, though the first half of next year should be no problem.

As for updates, I currently maintain over four thousand words a day; given my situation as a part-time writer who still has a job and is a "wretched" middle-aged man who has to accompany his wife and children when he gets home, this number is actually about right, after all, my efficiency is only about one thousand words per hour, and sometimes I can't even reach that; there's no helping it when you're slow-handed.
