Chapter 19: True Dragon Nine Transformations

~11 min read 2,045 words

That night.

Zhou Yi, resting at the hotel, frowned in deep thought; the reason for his distress was the Dragon Pearl within his body...

To be honest, he really hadn't carefully observed this Dragon Pearl in a long time, especially after learning that his formidable physical constitution wasn't brought about by it, but rather by the awakening of his own bloodline; he had become even more indifferent to it, usually just treating it as a Spiritual Power purifier.

Today, he focused his divine sense inward, intending to examine everything from his limbs to his meridians. Just as he placed his mental energy into his dantian, he discovered that the Dragon Pearl was completely different from before.

No... it couldn't be said to be completely different, it was just that he had discovered sights he had never seen before.

Thinking about it, there were two reasons why he hadn't been able to perceive its profound mysteries originally.

First, his mental energy was insufficient.

Second, his martial soul had not truly awakened.

Now that the conditions were met, he could finally discover its true appearance.

He saw the surface of the Dragon Pearl emitting a dazzling golden light, and looking at its surroundings, all kinds of Law auras were constantly emerging.

Zhou Yi sensed them carefully; these Law auras were extremely terrifying and numerous, including the heart-palpitating Destruction Law, the domineering Imperial Law, the heaven-battling and earth-fighting War Law, the auspicious Creation Law, various Element Laws, and even time, space, Reincarnation, and so on; the various Laws were countless...

He even somewhat doubted whether the owner of this Dragon Pearl had left it behind only after dying in battle.

"Good heavens! Which Dragon senior left this Dragon Pearl? How could a terrifying existence capable of mastering so many Laws possibly die in battle?"

Originally, he had thought the Dragon who left this Dragon Pearl was a nameless junior who died in battle; now, seeing this, the owner of the Dragon Pearl was not simple.

He had a guess: this Dragon Pearl was very likely left behind by the physical body of this expert in one of their lifetimes. Thinking of the Reincarnation Law this person mastered, perhaps they had long since reincarnated through countless lifetimes, cast off their Dragon body, and achieved complete transcendence.

And setting aside the Laws emerging from the outer layer of the Dragon Pearl, its surface was densely engraved with various cultivation techniques and Divine Abilities written in Dragon script.

Among them, the cultivation techniques were countless; besides the Dragon race's cultivation techniques, there were also those of various other races, and the human race's cultivation techniques accounted for half.

Before, his dilemma was that he didn't know which cultivation technique to choose.

First, he would not cultivate the Dragon race's techniques; although he had awakened the Dragon race's bloodline, he was not a Dragon after all, and he did not want to fully transform into the Dragon race. And those of other races were even less worth considering.

Although the human bloodline was weak, its potential was extremely high, and its inclusiveness was extremely strong. If he fully transformed into a Dragon, although his combat power would be stronger, he would be completely unable to use the abilities of other races. Conversely, for the human race, one only needed to fuse the bloodlines of other races to be able to display their racial abilities. For the sake of his future achievements, he would definitely not abandon his human identity.

As for the human cultivation techniques, after picking for a long time, he finally chose the most upright and balanced "Dao Scripture".

The "Dao Scripture" was a cultivation technique created by the Moral Heavenly Venerable Laozi specifically for the human race, and it was also the most widely circulated cultivation technique among humans. The Spiritual Power obtained from its cultivation, while having no special characteristics, would not conflict with any other attribute energy. This should be the most suitable cultivation technique for him.

In fact, although these cultivation techniques were numerous, there were only a few top-tier techniques that could be cultivated to an extremely high level, and other than the "Dao Scripture," the other techniques were all specific-attribute techniques, which were clearly unsuitable for him.

Now he could be considered to have a cultivation technique; isn't this "Dao Scripture" stronger than Tang San's "Mysterious Heaven Skill"?

With a cultivation technique, he would never have to worry about his cultivation speed again.

As for Divine Abilities, the Divine Abilities engraved on the Dragon Pearl were only nine in total, left behind by the nine sons of the Ancestral Dragon.

Divine Abilities were different from cultivation techniques; cultivation techniques were mainly for increasing the efficiency of absorbing external energy, while to master a Divine Ability, one could not follow a step-by-step process like with cultivation techniques; practicing Divine Abilities mainly relied on "enlightenment".

Even if you were a mortal, a moment of sudden enlightenment could turn you into a great power; the deeper your understanding of the Dao involved in the Divine Ability, the stronger the Divine Ability would be.

And these nine Divine Abilities were named: True Dragon Nine Transformations. They were created by the nine sons of the Ancestral Dragon based on the Dao they each excelled in, and they were:

Divine Ability Qiuniu; can turn music into power, can weaken opponents and also buff one's own side.

Qiuniu is the eldest of the nine sons of the Dragon, shaped like a small yellow dragon with scales and horns. Qiuniu loved music all his life and was the most gentle-natured among the many Dragon sons; he did not crave killing or show off, and was devoted to musical rhythm.

Legend has it that the dragon-headed, snake-bodied Qiuniu had an extraordinary ear for music and could distinguish the sounds of all things, often crouching on the head of a zither to appreciate the music of plucking strings, so his statue was carved on the head of the zither. This decoration has been used ever since, and the image of a dragon head is still carved on the heads of some valuable Chinese two-stringed fiddles, calling it a "dragon-head Chinese two-stringed fiddle".

Divine Ability Yazi; can increase one's own combat power, carries killing intent, and can also add dragon patterns to weapons to increase their lethality.

Yazi, ranked second among the nine sons of the Dragon, has a jackal's head and a dragon's body; his character was fierce and he loved fighting and killing all his life, and he was the war god among the Dragon sons. The fierce, glaring eyes of Yazi when angry were also used by the ancients to describe "glaring in anger," and "the kindness of a single meal must be repaid, the grievance of a glance must be avenged." The sword rings, sword hilts, and dragon-swallowing guards on ancient weapons were his statues. After these weapons were decorated with the image of Yazi, they added even more intimidating power.

Divine Ability Chaofeng; can increase the user's fortune, can predict the future to a certain extent, avoid bad luck and seek good fortune, can ensure safety, know trends, avoid risks, and seize opportunities. In addition, it also comes with wings to increase speed.

Chaofeng, the third son of the Dragon, often uses his shape as a decoration for the corners of palace roofs. Chaofeng looks like a beast and loved danger and heights all his life; he is often used to symbolize auspiciousness, and the beasts on the corners of the platforms are his image. He has wings, and some people believe that Chaofeng is the offspring of a Dragon and a Phoenix.

Divine Ability Pulao; can make one's good name spread far and wide, become famous throughout the world, bring people good reputation and blessings, and reduce obstacles and increase wisdom for all living beings through the sound of bells.

Pulao, shaped like a coiled dragon, ranked fourth, loved to roar and bellow all his life; the dragon-shaped beast knob on a great bell is his image. Originally, Pulao lived by the sea; although he was a Dragon son, he had always been afraid of the gargantuan whale. Whenever a whale attacked, he would be so frightened that he would roar loudly, hoping to drive the whale away. People, based on his characteristic of "loving to roar," would cast Pulao as the bell knob whenever they wanted a bell to have a loud sound, and made the wooden pestle for striking the bell into the shape of a whale. When striking the bell, the whale would strike Pulao again and again, making it "resound into the clouds" and "the sound travel far alone."

Divine Ability Suanni; can bring people wisdom and peace, and increase the user's comprehension.

Suanni, shaped like a lion, ranked fifth, loved stillness and disliked movement all his life, loved to sit, and also liked fireworks, so the foot decoration on an incense burner is his image.

Suanni also often appeared on incense burners; as the faint blue smoke rose, he would quietly watch the vanity and ups and downs of the world. Suanni was steady, firm, and wise, knew when to advance and retreat, and had constant movement and stillness; he was the guardian beast for those who cultivated their character and sought the Dao of Buddha.

Divine Ability Bixi; can increase the user's strength and defense.

Bixi, also known as Baxia, shaped like a turtle, ranked sixth among the nine sons of the Dragon, loved to carry heavy loads all his life, had infinite strength, and the turtle base under a stone tablet is his image.

Legend has it that in ancient times, Bixi often carried the three mountains and five peaks, stirring up trouble in the rivers, lakes, and seas. Later, when Great Yu was controlling the floods, he subdued him; he obeyed Great Yu's commands, pushing mountains and digging ditches, dredging river channels, and contributing to flood control. Once the floods were controlled, Great Yu worried that Bixi would go around causing trouble again, so he brought a huge stone tablet that reached the sky, engraved with Bixi's achievements in flood control, and told Bixi to carry it.

Bixi is another name for the Auspicious Beast Dragon Turtle, and his image of resisting a thousand catties of force is widely known.

Divine Ability Bi'an; can help people distinguish right from wrong, eliminate disasters and avoid difficulties, clear up grievances, and restrain evil things; the more one understands the Dao of justice and fairness, the stronger its power.

Bi'an, also known as Xianzhang, ranked seventh among the nine sons of the Dragon, is an Auspicious Beast in ancient Chinese mythology. Shaped like a tiger, he loved litigation all his life, yet had power; the tiger-head decoration on the top of prison doors is his image.

Legend has it that Bi'an was not only public-spirited and righteous, speaking up for justice, but could also distinguish right from wrong and judge impartially. Coupled with his majestic image, he was not only decorated on prison doors but also lay on both sides of the main hall of government offices. Whenever the magistrate sat in court, his image would be at the top of the administrative official's nameplate and the "silence and avoid" signs. He would glare like a tiger, looking around to maintain the solemnity and righteousness of the court.

Divine Ability Fuxi; can make writing and painting turn decay into magic, allowing written talismans to generate power.

Fuxi, ranked eighth, body like a dragon, elegantly loved literature, coiling on the top of stone tablets. Shaped like a dragon, ranked eighth, loved literature all his life; the literary dragons on both sides of stone tablets are his image.

Divine Ability Chiwen: A swallowing-type Divine Ability, allowing the user to instantly swallow a massive amount of energy.

Chiwen, also known as Chiwen or Chiwei, is the ninth son of the Dragon. With a wide mouth and rough voice, he loved to swallow all his life; the curled-tail dragon head at both ends of the palace roof ridge is his image. Chiwen looks like a four-legged lizard with its tail cut off; this Dragon son loved to look around in dangerous places and also liked to swallow fire.
