Chapter 100: A One-of-a-Kind Aura

~6 min read 1,004 words

Ren Ji: “Has Director Feng arrived?”

“Mm.” Speaking of Feng Tingshen, Lin Wu’s tone softened slightly: “My wound isn’t fully healed yet, so Tingshen came to pick me up.”

As she spoke, she didn’t look at Rong Ci at all.

After saying that, she added: “Director Ren, we’ll be leaving first. See you next time.”

Ren Ji had originally wanted to confront Rong Ci and defend Lin Wu.

But seeing Lin Wu wouldn’t even spare Rong Ci a glance, he assumed she found Rong Ci beneath her notice—too contemptible to bother with even false politeness.

Lin Wu’s pride and directness struck Ren Ji as even more distinctive, more alluring.

For a moment, he felt talking to Rong Ci was pointless.

He thought Rong Ci wasn’t worthy.

Thinking this, he genuinely began to despise Rong Ci.

He told Lin Wu: “I’m leaving too. Let’s go together.”

Lin Wu nodded, and together with Lin Li, they walked away without looking back.

Lin Wu left without so much as a glance at Rong Ci, but before leaving, Ren Ji turned back and gave her a cold look.

Seeing his gaze, Rong Ci didn’t need to think to know exactly what it meant.

Men who disliked her on account of Lin Wu weren’t new to her—Ren Ji wasn’t the first.

Thinking of this, Rong Ci returned his coldness with equal chill, then deliberately looked away first, treating them all like air, walking almost shoulder-to-shoulder toward the exit.

Ren Ji froze.

He hadn’t expected that, after being exposed, she wouldn’t even blush—but would dare act so unshakably righteous.

He gave a sarcastic smile.

He felt he’d just witnessed something truly unprecedented.

Indeed, the bigger the forest, the stranger the birds.

Seeing Rong Ci leave without hesitation alongside them, Lin Li was startled, then frowned.

Lin Wu’s steps paused imperceptibly, then she continued forward as if she hadn’t seen her.

At the parking lot, Feng Tingshen had stepped out of the car and was leaning against the door, waiting for Lin Wu.

Seeing Rong Ci and Lin Wu emerge together, he paused briefly—but his expression quickly returned to calm.

Rong Ci also saw Feng Tingshen.

She kept her gaze straight ahead and walked toward where she’d parked her car.

Once inside, she set the navigation and drove off.

Feng Tingshen and the others hadn’t left yet.

As she drove forward, she caught sight of Feng Tingshen tenderly opening the car door for Lin Wu.

There was an evening banquet on Saturday; Yu Moxun returned Friday afternoon.

Upon hearing about Ren Ji’s actions, he laughed bitterly and declared coldly: “If that’s the case, we have no reason to cooperate with him—better to avoid the annoyance.”

Rong Ci thought the same.

There were plenty of good partners besides Ren Ji; she didn’t need to humble herself.

Saturday afternoon.

Rong Ci was organizing her evening gown when her phone rang.

It was Feng Jingxin.

She’d been ignoring all previous calls, assuming Feng Jingxin would reduce the frequency.

Yet over the past week, Feng Jingxin had still called her two or three times as usual.

She hadn’t answered any of them.

This time was no different.

Seeing she didn’t answer, Feng Jingxin no longer felt as disappointed as before.

After her mother had ignored so many calls, she’d once been heartbroken enough to stop calling altogether.

But her father told her to call whenever she wanted—her mother would answer eventually.

So whenever she needed to speak to her mother, even knowing she might not pick up, she dialed immediately, following her heart.

She put down the phone as if nothing had happened, then lay on the master bed, legs swinging up and down, watching Feng Tingshen in his more formal suit: “Dad, are you going to pick up Aunt Wu so soon?”

Feng Tingshen: “Mm.”

“Then come back early tomorrow and take me out.”

“Alright.”

After dressing, Feng Tingshen left the house over ten minutes later.

Around eight o’clock.

He and Lin Wu appeared together at the banquet hall entrance.

Lin Wu’s outfit today was still expensive, equally stunning and captivating.

The moment she and Feng Tingshen entered the banquet hall, nearly everyone’s attention turned to them.

He Zhangbai and Qi Yuming had already arrived.

Seeing them, they walked over.

Ren Ji and Ji Qingyue had just arrived.

Noticing the commotion, they looked over.

Seeing Lin Wu, Ren Ji’s eyes flickered with fresh admiration.

Ji Qingyue looked at Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu and asked Yao Xinbo: “That’s Lin Wu?”

Yao Xinbo nodded: “Yeah. Beautiful and magnetic, right?”

No matter how beautiful or magnetic, she’s someone else’s girlfriend.

Ji Qingyue glanced twice, then looked away without comment.

Feng Tingshen’s influence spoke for itself.

As soon as he arrived, many people rushed over to greet him.

Soon, a crowd had gathered around him and Lin Wu.

Then Yu Moxun and Rong Ci arrived, late.

Changmo had been the most prominent presence in the business circle recently—without question.

Thus, when Yu Moxun appeared, others stared at him with even greater eagerness than before.

At the same time, everyone was stunned by Rong Ci.

Rong Ci’s ivory-white, hand-embroidered qipao perfectly blended her graceful figure with a serene, refined, scholarly elegance.

“To be fair, both Director Feng and Director Yu are truly fortunate men.”

“Absolutely.”

Whether it was Miss Lin or the woman beside Yu Moxun, though their auras differed, both were top-tier beauties.

The moment Rong Ci and Yu Moxun entered the banquet hall, He Zhangbai, Qi Yuming, Ji Qingyue, and Ren Ji all noticed them instantly.

Given Changmo’s recent prominence, it was inevitable the host invited Yu Moxun.

But He Zhangbai hadn’t been sure whether Rong Ci would attend with him.

Now, seeing her arm linked with Yu Moxun’s, his deep eyes sharpened.

Qi Yuming had guessed Rong Ci might appear at this banquet.

But he hadn’t expected her to dress so strikingly beautiful.

Even though he disliked Rong Ci, he had to admit: her clean, captivating, gentle aura was truly one of a kind.
