Chapter 38

Lin Wu also saw Rong Ci, and said calmly to Yu Moxun: “We have other matters, so we’ll take our leave first. Let’s chat another time.”

Yu Moxun shook hands with them: “Alright, let’s chat another time.”

Lin Wu didn’t look at Rong Ci again, and turned away with Lin Lihai and the others.

Given Yu Moxun’s status and position, as noon approached, several major figures came over to invite him to lunch.

And from what they implied, Feng Tingshen would be joining too.

Feng Tingshen’s side was already surrounded by many industry leaders, likely all heading to the same meal.

The future direction of the AI field largely depended on how these big figures acted.

So this was actually an excellent opportunity to deeply understand the market’s future trends.

Beyond that, if the conversation went well, cooperation could be sealed right after the meal.

Yu Moxun truly wanted to go.

He looked at Rong Ci.

He silently asked for her opinion.

He wondered whether she’d feel… with Feng Tingshen there.

Rong Ci said firmly: “I’m going.”

Outside the door, she and Feng Tingshen treated each other as strangers—true enough.

But that didn’t mean she’d avoid him.

The senior figures led Rong Ci and Yu Moxun toward Feng Tingshen’s group.

Feng Tingshen watched them approach, his expression calm.

But Lin Wu frowned slightly.

Then he relaxed, his gaze returning coolly to indifference.

Lin Lihai and Lin Lilan also arrived.

Seeing Rong Ci there, their expressions darkened.

Someone who hadn’t yet greeted Yu Moxun stepped forward to greet him now.

When it came to Feng Tingshen, he also shook hands with Yu Moxun: “Hello.”

“Hello,” Yu Moxun smiled. “Mr. Feng, I’ve long heard of your reputation.”

“Mr. Yu is too kind.”

After some polite exchanges, Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu were escorted to the front, heading toward the parking lot.

Rong Ci and Yu Moxun followed behind.

Lin Lihai and Lin Lilan quietly found a chance to approach Rong Ci, trying to signal her not to join them.

But Rong Ci acted as if she didn’t see them.

Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu got into the same car; Rong Ci got into Yu Moxun’s.

Lin Lilan, unable to stop Rong Ci, frowned: “This Rong Ci really…”

There were over twenty people in their group.

The private dining room was large, and everyone sat around a big round table.

Feng Tingshen naturally sat with Lin Wu.

Lin Lilan had wanted to sit beside Rong Ci.

She worried Rong Ci might say something inappropriate during the meal and wanted to watch her.

But she was too slow—the last seat beside Rong Ci had already been taken by Yu Moxun.

Once seated, everyone chatted while ordering dishes.

Feng Tingshen handed the menu to Lin Wu and told her to order.

Lin Wu took it and asked him: “What do you want to eat?”

Feng Tingshen: “You decide.”

Those seated nearby chuckled and said: “Mr. Feng and Miss Lin really have a good relationship.”

Lin Wu smiled faintly and ordered several dishes based on Feng Tingshen’s tastes.

Lin Lihai and Lin Lilan watched, and their faces softened with smiles.

Yu Moxun also held the menu and asked Rong Ci about her preferences.

Hearing the commotion over there, he glanced over, then looked at Rong Ci. Her expression showed no particular reaction; when Yu Moxun asked, she discussed and ordered two dishes with him.

Seeing that Rong Ci showed no signs of causing trouble, Lin Lilan and Lin Lihai relaxed slightly.

Noticing Lin Lihai and the others paying attention to Rong Ci’s side, Lin Wu understood their thoughts and leaned over to whisper: “Don’t worry. With Tingshen here, she won’t dare act up.”

If Rong Ci truly caused a scene, she’d surely anger Feng Tingshen.

Knowing the state of Rong Ci and Feng Tingshen’s marriage, Rong Ci wouldn’t dare provoke him.

After all, if she annoyed him again, she’d only make him despise her more.

Hearing this, Lin Lilan felt somewhat reassured.

But she feared Feng Tingshen was treating Lin Wu too well, and Rong Ci might find it unbearable.

Rong Ci didn’t care what they thought; she didn’t even pay special attention to their side, because the person sitting beside her on the other side was Professor Liu.

Professor Liu had already known Rong Ci was attending the exhibition and had greeted her earlier during the event.

At the last banquet, they’d had a pleasant conversation, and he’d been looking for a chance to talk with her ever since, but both had been too busy.

Now that they’d met again, he didn’t want to miss the opportunity.

So shortly after sitting down, he began talking to Rong Ci.

The table was large, and Rong Ci and Professor Liu kept their voices low so as not to disturb others.

Seeing Professor Liu speak warmly and continuously to Rong Ci, Lin Wu and Lin Lilan assumed Rong Ci was simply asking him professional questions, and paid little attention.

The person seated beside Professor Liu teased: “Old Liu, you really can’t shake your professional habit—talked to someone all day at the exhibition, and now you’re still talking nonstop at the table.”

Another laughed and added: “That’s true. Earlier at the exhibition, Old Liu was chatting with Miss Lin for ages too.”

Seeing the conversation turn to her, Professor Liu smiled and didn’t indulge them: “When I talk technical stuff with you, you always shove me off to your engineers. Now that I’m not talking to you, you’re all uncomfortable?”

Someone glanced between Lin Wu and Rong Ci and said: “Didn’t expect young girls today are so interested in AI and programming. Times really have changed.”

“Exactly,” someone else chimed in. “After chatting with Miss Lin at the exhibition, Old Liu told me how many promising talents there are now—our country’s future looks bright, hahaha!”

“Miss Lin is a top graduate from a world-renowned university—of course she’s a promising talent.”

Hearing their praise, Lin Wu smiled modestly: “You’re all too kind.”

Given Feng Tingshen’s status, Lin Wu, as his woman, naturally received more flattery from everyone.

As for Rong Ci, they knew she was beautiful, but heard she was merely an employee at Yu Moxun’s company—though her relationship with him was ambiguous, she had no other background, so no one paid her much attention.

When the dishes arrived, Lin Wu picked up a piece of food for Feng Tingshen; he accepted it naturally.

At this point, everyone’s conversation opened up, and they gradually began discussing the future prospects of some exhibits from the exhibition.

Someone couldn’t help saying: “By the way, Mr. Feng, your autonomous vehicle and Mr. Yu’s company’s intelligent transportation programming language are highly compatible—I’m itching to see you two collaborate. Aren’t you planning to?”
