Chapter 42

After finishing lunch, they chatted for several more hours that afternoon, and the two companies preliminarily established a cooperative relationship.

Two days later, Rong Ci and Yu Moxun went to Feng Tingshen’s tech company, Xundu, to discuss the contract.

At Xundu, they were greeted by Director Quan and Xundu’s core executive, Director Jin.

But Director Jin arrived late.

Upon entering the conference room, he immediately apologized to Rong Ci and Yu Moxun.

“I was just upstairs in a meeting with Director Feng and others, so I’m late—my apologies.”

So, is Feng Tingshen also at Xundu now?

Rong Ci thought to herself and shook hands with Yu Moxun, saying, “No problem.”

After Director Jin arrived, they continued discussing the contract terms.

A while later, someone pushed the door open.

Rong Ci and Yu Moxun paid little attention, assuming it was just a regular Xundu employee.

But Director Quan and Director Jin immediately stood up to greet the newcomer: “Young Lady Lin.”

Rong Ci froze.

She looked up—it was indeed Lin Wu.

Yu Moxun also frowned.

Lin Wu glanced at Rong Ci, then said to Director Quan and Director Jin, “I just came by to take a look. Carry on with your work—don’t mind me.”

Director Quan and Director Jin both nodded vigorously, then immediately instructed their secretaries to pour tea for Lin Wu.

Their demeanor was warm and reverent, clearly treating her like the boss’s wife.

Lin Wu also greeted Yu Moxun: “Director Yu.”

Yu Moxun nodded: “Young Lady Lin.”

Lin Wu accepted the tea poured by Director Jin’s secretary, sat down in the chair specially brought for her, took a sip, set the cup down, noticed the contract beside her, and asked, “May I take a look?”

Director Jin smiled: “Of course.”

Seeing Yu Moxun and Rong Ci look over, Director Jin explained with a smile: “Young Lady Lin is Director Feng’s girlfriend. He never avoids her when signing contracts.”

The implication was clear: Lin Wu was one of them, so there was no risk of confidential leaks.

Yu Moxun laughed: “With Director Jin saying that, we’re reassured.”

Rong Ci kept her head down, silent.

In Feng Tingshen’s study at home, which contained company secrets, he had never allowed her to enter.

From the day she moved in, the butler had been specifically instructed to tell her this.

So, for all these years, she had never once stepped into that villa’s study.

Yet Lin Wu could casually browse Feng Tingshen’s confidential documents, and everyone at Xundu knew about it…

Clearly, their relationship was already deeply entrenched.

Lin Wu knew that Yu Moxun and Rong Ci’s reaction to seeing her touch these documents stemmed not only from concerns about leaks, but also from surprise at how intimate she and Feng Tingshen had become.

Lin Wu set down the documents, turned to Rong Ci, saw her head bowed as if afraid to look at her, and smiled while lifting her teacup.

Sitting there, her posture was unmistakably that of a boss’s wife overseeing proceedings.

Yu Moxun, watching, asked suddenly as Director Jin and others revised a contract clause: “Young Lady Lin, aren’t you planning to work at Xundu?”

Lin Wu put down her cup, met his gaze directly, and said: “Feng Tingshen asked me to join Xundu, but I prefer to rely on myself—I declined.”

Before Yu Moxun could respond, Director Jin chuckled in: “Young Lady Lin is too modest. We all know you’re a top talent in AI. Even if you’re close to Director Feng, no one would think you got in through connections. On the contrary, if you joined us, our work would run far smoother. Young Lady Lin, would you reconsider?”

Lin Wu smiled faintly: “We’ll see.”

Meaning, if she wanted, she could walk into this company anytime.

Feng Tingshen’s blatant favoritism had become too numerous for Rong Ci to count.

Rong Ci picked up her teacup, took a sip, and then noticed a figure standing outside the glass door.

She lifted her head slightly.

Feng Tingshen.

She froze.

Feng Tingshen saw her too, but his gaze didn’t seem to rest on her.

Rong Ci turned back and saw Lin Wu offering a faint smile toward the door—clearly greeting Feng Tingshen.

Then Lin Wu said to Director Jin: “I’m leaving now.”

Only then did Director Quan and Director Jin notice Feng Tingshen had arrived.

It was nearly noon—clearly, Feng Tingshen had come down specifically to take Lin Wu to lunch.

Seeing Director Quan and the others rise to greet him, Feng Tingshen said: “No need to be formal. Carry on with your work.”

Director Quan and the others nodded quickly in agreement.

Feng Tingshen then politely addressed Yu Moxun: “I’m swamped—forgive me for not hosting you personally.”

“Director Feng is too kind. I understand you’re busy.”

Feng Tingshen smiled, glanced at Rong Ci, said nothing more, and left with Lin Wu.

It was common knowledge in the circle that Feng Tingshen owned many companies.

Yu Moxun hadn’t expected Feng Tingshen to be at Xundu today—let alone Lin Wu too.

He looked at Rong Ci and silently patted her shoulder in comfort.

Rong Ci shook her head.

She was fine.

When coming to Xundu, she had already prepared herself for the possibility of encountering Feng Tingshen.

But she truly hadn’t expected Lin Wu to be here too.

Two days ago, Director Quan mentioned Lin Wu had visited Xundu before—she’d assumed Lin Wu only appeared occasionally. She hadn’t imagined Lin Wu treated Feng Tingshen’s company like her own home: coming and going at will, already so familiar with everyone…

The cooperation involved many technical details later on, so every clause had to be carefully negotiated to avoid unnecessary disputes during the partnership.

By the time they fully agreed on all contract terms, it was already past five in the afternoon.

After Yu Moxun signed, Director Jin personally took the documents upstairs for Feng Tingshen’s signature.

Yu Moxun paused: “Is Director Feng still at the company?”

“Yes.”

Director Quan said: “He’s too busy handling another project.”

Was that true?

Was he really busy—or was he avoiding Rong Ci?

Rong Ci had thought of this too.

Director Quan and Yu Moxun were both technical experts who had known each other before.

Now that the contract was signed and they were relaxed, he cleared his throat and lowered his voice: “Young Lady Lin was here too. Apparently she spent the whole day with Director Feng—those two really are close.”

Rong Ci sat right beside Yu Moxun—she heard it clearly.

A while later, Director Jin returned with the documents signed by Feng Tingshen.

Yu Moxun had an important personal matter to attend to that evening and declined Director Jin’s invitation to dinner.

Director Jin and Director Quan didn’t press, politely seeing them off to the elevator—where they ran into Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu.
