Chapter 433: Bought specially for you by Dad
Feng Tingshen and Rong Ci both brought food over.
When Feng Jingxin saw the snacks made by Rong Ci—which she loved but hadn't eaten in a long time—she was pleasantly surprised: "Mom, you prepared snacks for me specially?!"
In truth, Rong Ci hadn't prepared anything specially for Feng Jingxin.
It was Old Lady Rong who had asked her to make them.
She didn't want the old lady to nag or worry, so she made them.
Seeing Feng Jingxin's expectant expression now, she didn't say anything.
At this moment, Feng Tingshen also placed two plates of snacks in front of Rong Ci: "I heard from the housekeeper at home that you like these, so I had them make some. Would you like to have some?"
A housekeeper at Feng Tingshen's place was very skilled at making snacks; one of them, a mugwort dumpling, had a rather unique taste that she truly loved, and it couldn't be bought anywhere else. She had indeed loved eating them before.
Ever since she moved out of Feng Tingshen's place, she hadn't been able to eat them again.
Looking at the familiar delicacies spread out before her, Rong Ci suddenly felt as if she had returned to the past, to those days spent waiting at home for Feng Tingshen to return.
Rong Ci turned her face away and said coolly, "Thank you, I'll eat them when I want to."
Feng Tingshen glanced at her, paused, but didn't press the matter further.
After eating a little, Feng Jingxin saw someone flying a kite and wanted to go fly one herself.
She dragged Feng Tingshen off to buy a kite and returned after a short while.
However, when they returned, each of them was holding one.
When she looked over, Feng Tingshen handed the blue butterfly kite in his hand to her.
Rong Ci reflexively pushed it away: "No need, I—"
"Mom, this was bought specially for you by Dad. Flying kites is really fun, Mom, you should try it."
As Feng Jingxin spoke, she shoved the kite from Feng Tingshen's hand into Rong Ci's, then asked, "Mom, do you know how to fly a kite?"
Rong Ci didn't know what was going on with Feng Jingxin's claim that "Feng Tingshen bought it specially for her," so she said, "I suppose I do."
Feng Jingxin had always been particularly fond of kites.
Back when Feng Tingshen hadn't yet paid much attention to Feng Jingxin, she had taken her out to play and flown kites a few times.
However, Feng Jingxin was still small then, and she had likely forgotten most of it.
Rong Ci actually had no interest in flying a kite; she took the kite Feng Jingxin shoved at her and set it aside, while Feng Tingshen guided Feng Jingxin in flying hers hand-in-hand, succeeding on the very first try.
Feng Jingxin held the string, a constant smile on her beautiful little face.
Feng Tingshen stood where he was, his gaze following her figure with a smile on his face.
Seeing this, a sense of comfort suddenly welled up in Rong Ci's heart.
Regardless of the past, and regardless of how things were between her and Feng Tingshen, at least Feng Tingshen truly cherished Feng Jingxin now.
With a father who cherished her so much, Feng Jingxin's future should be very good.
Just as she thought of this, she suddenly noticed that Feng Tingshen was looking at her.
Rong Ci met his gaze and was about to turn away when Feng Tingshen glanced at the kite she had set aside and said, "Won't you try it?"
Rong Ci's voice was very flat: "No interest."
Hearing this, Feng Tingshen didn't say anything more; a moment later, his gaze returned to Feng Jingxin.
The surrounding campsite was quite large, and there were quite a few people.
They hadn't brought any servants, so seeing Feng Jingxin walk a bit further away, Feng Tingshen didn't say anything else and followed after her running figure.
Rong Ci sat where she was, not moving, just watching from afar the direction in which the father and daughter were heading. ===== CHAPTER 434 =====
