Chapter 564: Meeting Again
Others chimed in agreement, but Lin Wu said nothing, because she knew better than anyone that Rong Ci’s current recklessness with money stemmed not from Yu Moxun or Feng Tingshen, but from herself.
She relied on no one but herself—and already possessed the vast wealth that so many others could only dream of.
Thinking of this, Lin Wu’s heart sank instantly, her gaze dimming, her hand gripping the chair arm so tightly that her earlier good mood vanished completely.
Rong Ci didn’t care what others thought; after several rounds of bidding, she secured the ink painting for just over seventy million.
After the auction ended, the anonymous owner of the auction house personally approached Rong Ci to introduce himself, treating her with great courtesy.
It was said that the auction house's secret owner held an extraordinary status, rarely appearing even once every one or two years—yet he had come specifically to meet Rong Ci, bestowing upon her immense honor.
Seeing how the auction house owner treated Rong Ci as an honored guest, the Lin and Sun families did feel a twinge of envy—but only a slight one, for they believed they would one day live far better than Rong Ci.
Let Rong Ci gloat for now.
Sun Yueqing spoke coolly as she rose. “Let’s go home.”
“Alright,” Sun Liyao replied with a smile, shooting Rong Ci a glare before leaving with the rest of the Lin and Sun families.
As Rong Ci drove home from the auction house, she received a call from Feng Jingxin: Feng Tingshen was free tomorrow and had agreed to join them for dinner.
Rong Ci responded with a quiet, “Understood.”
The next day, she received another message from Feng Jingxin and left on time.
When she arrived at the restaurant, Feng Tingshen and Feng Jingxin were already there.
Feng Jingxin rushed over to her with her usual enthusiasm; Feng Tingshen also looked up at her. “You’re here?”
He then poured her a cup of tea and placed it before her.
Rong Ci accepted it and thanked him in a flat tone.
Hearing her tone, Feng Tingshen glanced at her again.
Rong Ci acted as if she hadn’t noticed; his probing gaze lingered on her face for two seconds before he looked away.
Like before, both of them merely fulfilled their parental duties by humoring Feng Jingxin’s interests—but between themselves, they exchanged almost nothing.
The meal was passable.
Feng Jingxin failed to sense the coldness between the two adults; after eating, she cheerfully suggested going somewhere else.
Both Rong Ci and Feng Tingshen agreed.
As they left the restaurant, Feng Jingxin happily held Rong Ci’s hand and walked ahead, while Feng Tingshen followed a step behind them.
To any observer, the three of them looked like a happy family.
Feng Jingxin stepped into the car first but stumbled slightly, nearly falling outward; Rong Ci, right behind her, reacted instantly and steadied her. As she helped Feng Jingxin, she herself lost her balance—Feng Tingshen watched, then reached out and wrapped his arm around her waist and shoulder. “Be careful.”
Only after she was steady did he let go.
Rong Ci murmured her thanks, then turned to get in the car—but paused, noticing something, and glanced sideways, yet saw nothing.
Feng Tingshen noticed. “What is it?”
Rong Ci snapped back to herself. “Nothing.”
She said no more, bent down, and got into the car.
After Feng Tingshen’s car pulled out of the restaurant parking lot, Yao Xinbo and Ren Ji appeared.
