Chapter 567: The Visitor Is Not Friendly
"Alright."
Rong Ci and Feng Jingxin got into the car quickly.
In the car, Feng Jingxin waved to Feng Tingshen; only after the car drove out of the villa courtyard and his figure vanished from view did she settle down properly.
Her gaze fell again on Rong Ci.
Changmo had a lot on its plate today, Rong Ci was busy as well, and Jiashang her menstrual cramps made her abdomen ache, her complexion looked poor.
Feng Jingxin naturally noticed.
Seeing how exhausted Rong Ci was yet still came personally to pick her up, Feng Jingxin’s mood lifted, and she couldn’t help but whine, “Mama...”
Rong Ci was still driving. “Mm?”
That “mm” was soft in tone.
Feng Jingxin smiled happily. “Nothing. Just drive safely.”
Rong Ci: “Okay.”
That evening, the Rong family worked together to prepare many Y-city specialty snacks, as lively as the New Year, and Feng Jingxin’s laughter never stopped.
The next day.
After dropping Feng Jingxin off at school, Rong Ci returned to Changmo.
Someone had come to Changmo to discuss cooperation, explicitly stating they wanted to speak with Rong Ci.
Over the past year, Rong Ci’s abilities had become widely known; when someone wished to collaborate with her, Yu Moxun had no hesitation and went off to handle other matters.
The guest arrived. Rong Ci pushed open the door and saw that all the visitors were young, beautiful women. She politely extended her hand toward one of them. “You’re Director Lian, correct? A pleasure.”
Lian Ningqi leaned back on the sofa, studying Rong Ci with her gaze. After a few seconds, a smile curled across her beautiful face. She set down her coffee cup without rising, merely offering a light handshake while seated. “You’re Rong Ci?”
Rong Ci sat down. “Yes. Do you know me?”
Lian Ningqi smiled. “I don’t know you personally, but your name, Miss Rong, is legendary.”
From Lian Ningqi’s tone, this was no compliment.
Rong Ci’s expression didn’t change. “I heard Lian Group wishes to collaborate with us on a project. What are your company’s requirements?”
“Requirements? Naturally, there are some.”
Lian Ningqi said nothing further, gestured to her attendant to hand the documents to Rong Ci, then lazily lifted her coffee cup again.
Rong Ci took the files and skimmed through them briefly.
After a moment, she placed the documents back down. “The content in the files is within our capability, and the pricing is reasonable.”
The documents only gave a general outline. Lian Ningqi set down her coffee cup and gave a glance to her attendant, who then engaged Rong Ci in a detailed discussion of the agreement terms and their core demands.
They talked for over ten minutes.
During this time, Rong Ci noticed Lian Ningqi had been watching her with a faint, ambiguous smile.
Rong Ci ignored it.
After ten minutes, the woman gave Lian Ningqi a glance and nodded. Lian Ningqi took a tissue to wipe her lips, then smiled. “I’d heard Miss Rong was exceptionally talented. Now that I’ve seen you, the rumors are indeed true.”
This sounded like praise, but Rong Ci saw unmistakable mockery in Lian Ningqi’s eyes.
Rong Ci now understood the visitor had ill intent.
She knew of the Lian family.
But over the years, the Lian family had relocated much of its operations and rarely appeared in Ducheng, so she knew little about them or their members.
This Director Lian was someone she’d never met before—she had no idea what she’d done to provoke them.
She feigned not hearing the mockery, speaking calmly as she issued a dismissal: “Director Lian is too kind. I have another meeting and can’t keep you longer. If Lian Group wishes to further cooperate with Changmo, prepare more detailed documents—we can discuss again next time.”
