Chapter 577: Knowing She Is a Good Person
She had just finished talking with Feng Tingshen when the Lin and Sun families called again, asking her about the rumor of Feng Tingshen and Rong Ci’s divorce.
She told them about the accident involving Feng LinSong and Sang Qian.
The Lin and Sun families turned pale and hurriedly asked: “So, have TingShen and Rong Ci actually divorced yet?”
Lin Wu: “I don’t know, but… they probably haven’t divorced yet.”
Though she didn’t want to believe it, based on the timeline, Feng Tingshen likely hadn’t had time to reach the Minzheng Bureau before receiving the news of Feng LinSong and Sang Qian’s accident.
The Lin and Sun families hadn’t expected that after waiting so long, it would all come to nothing.
“This… how could it happen like this?”
Sun Liyao stamped her foot in anger: “Exactly!”
…
On the other side.
Near noon, after finishing her meeting, Rong Ci remembered the incident involving Feng LinSong and Sang Qian and was about to call Feng Jingxin when Gu Yan walked over. “Want to have lunch together?”
Rong Ci was about to reply when her phone rang.
Though the caller ID had no label, she knew it was Feng Tingshen calling.
She nodded to Gu Yan, stepped slightly away from him, then answered the call: “How are Uncle and Aunt now?”
On the other end, Feng Tingshen said: “They just came out of the emergency room a while ago, but both have multiple severe injuries. They’re stable for now, but still not out of danger—especially Father. His injuries are worse than Mother’s.”
Rong Ci: “...Mm.”
Only then did Feng Tingshen state his purpose: “My sister and I will stay at the hospital to care for them. Grandmother’s mental state isn’t good—I tried to persuade her to go home and rest, but she refused. Jingxin is still young and shouldn’t stay too long in the hospital. Could you come over?”
Grandmother’s condition was dire; if things continued like this, she might collapse before any news came about Feng LinSong and Sang Qian.
Grandmother was elderly—if she truly collapsed, it would be truly serious.
After listening, Rong Ci said: “I understand.”
“Thank you.”
Rong Ci said nothing more. After hanging up, she turned to Gu Yan, who was waiting nearby, and said: “I’m sorry, I have something urgent—I need to go to the hospital. Let’s reschedule lunch.”
Gu Yan asked quickly: “Is it serious? Should I come with you?”
“It’s not my own matter. I can handle it myself.”
Rong Ci gave no further explanation. She returned to her office, grabbed her car keys, and left.
Nearly an hour later, Rong Ci arrived at the hospital.
Feng Tingshen was right—Grandmother’s face was indeed pale, and she looked far more worn out than before.
Seeing her, she tried to smile but couldn’t. Instead, she reached out and took Rong Ci’s hand, then looked at Feng Tingshen beside her and said to Rong Ci: “Xiao Ci, you’re thoughtful.”
She wasn’t senile—she knew Feng Tingshen had called Rong Ci to come.
Rong Ci, despite past grievances, had come specifically to keep her company and comfort her. That kindness, she clearly recognized.
And her grandson—when he was so close to divorcing Rong Ci, he still called her to come. He must have known she would come. Doesn’t that prove he himself already knew Rong Ci was a good person?
But now, she had no heart to say any of it.
Feng Jingxin also knew Feng LinSong and Sang Qian might be in danger. She was still young and frightened; upon seeing Rong Ci, she rushed into her arms.
Feng Tingshen urged Grandmother: “Go home and rest now. I’ll notify you immediately if there’s any good news.”
