That afternoon, after finishing the competition, Feng Jingxin received a call from Feng Tingshen: “Finished? How did it go?”

Feng Jingxin sipped from her water cup and said cheerfully, “First place! I advanced!”

“Good.” Feng Tingshen smiled, then added, “Your grandfather’s already home. Come back tonight for dinner at your great-grandmother’s.”

Feng Jingxin: “Got it.”

They didn’t say more and hung up quickly.

After hanging up, Feng Jingxin told Rong Ci: “Mom, Dad said we should go back to Great-Grandmother’s for dinner tonight. Let’s go now.”

Feng Jingxin had used speakerphone during her call with Feng Tingshen, so Rong Ci clearly heard that Feng Tingshen had only told Feng Jingxin to return to the ancestral home—he never asked her to bring Rong Ci along.

If he truly wanted Feng Jingxin to bring Rong Ci, he would have said, “Bring your mother with you and come back for dinner at your great-grandmother’s.”

But just now, Feng Tingshen hadn’t mentioned her at all.

Rong Ci said, “I have other plans tonight. I won’t be going.”

Rong Ci often had commitments; though Feng Jingxin felt a little disappointed, she didn’t press it. “Should I ask Dad to come pick me up?”

Rong Ci: “Okay.”

Feng Jingxin called Feng Tingshen again. After she spoke, he replied, “Alright, I know.”

Although Feng Tingshen said “I know,” he didn’t come himself—the person who came to pick up Feng Jingxin was actually her driver.

Feng Jingxin had advanced; she had another match tomorrow.

Rong Ci had assumed Feng Tingshen would accompany her, but that evening, Feng Jingxin came to Rong’s house again. “Dad’s busy tomorrow. Mom, will you come with me to the match?”

Rong Ci had originally planned to meet with Yu Moxun to discuss business with a client, but upon hearing this, she agreed and immediately called Yu Moxun.

“Senior Brother, Xin Xin advanced in fencing—she has another match tomorrow. I need to accompany her in the morning, so I can’t go with you to meet the client.”

Although Yu Moxun wasn’t particularly fond of Feng Jingxin, since Rong Ci was fulfilling her duty as a mother, he had no objection: “No problem. I can handle it alone. Go with the child.”

He added, “But why have you been the one always accompanying her lately? Where’s Feng Tingshen?”

“He said he’s busy tomorrow.”

Yu Moxun smirked and dropped the subject, exchanged a few more pleasantries with Rong Ci, then hung up.

The next morning, as Feng Jingxin prepared to enter the competition, Yu Moxun sent her a message.

The photo showed Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu, along with several others she didn’t recognize.

From their attire and the background, Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu were clearly at a golf course too.

Immediately after, Yu Moxun sent another message: 【I just spoke with the people who came with Feng Tingshen. They said Xundu has made a new technical breakthrough and is currently developing a new module. Feng Tingshen invited them today to help secure investment for Xundu.】

So Feng Tingshen’s earlier excuse of being busy was really just to be with Lin Wu.

Rong Ci understood his meaning.

After reading it, she replied calmly: 【Mm.】

Yu Moxun was genuinely angry. Seeing Rong Ci’s reply, he put his phone back in his pocket. When Feng Tingshen tried to approach him to greet him, Yu Moxun’s face hardened—he pretended not to notice and turned to others: “Let’s go play over there.”

Everyone noticed Yu Moxun was deliberately ignoring Feng Tingshen. Some felt awkward, unsure what to do.

Feng Tingshen merely smiled and didn’t move closer. He told the several businessmen who had come to negotiate with Yu Moxun: “You go ahead. We can talk another time.”

Hearing this, the businessmen all breathed a sigh of relief, nodded to Feng Tingshen, and followed after Yu Moxun.
