Chapter 80

He asked, “Do you know that woman?”

Hearing him mention Rong Ci, Lin Wu tightened her grip on the keyboard slightly.

Rong Ci really was beautiful.

Hearing Ren Jifeng ask this, she instinctively assumed he had feelings for Rong Ci.

But recalling what she’d heard at the auction and Ren Jifeng’s current attitude toward her, she realized she’d been wrong.

She said flatly, “Not at all. Why?”

Ren Jifeng glanced toward Rong Ci and Yu Moxun and said, “From how they’re talking, she seems quite capable?”

Lin Wu replied coolly, “I’m not sure, but I heard she only has a bachelor’s degree.”

“Only a bachelor’s degree?”

“Mm.”

That explained it.

Her education doesn’t match Lin Wu’s, and she’s nowhere near as charismatic—worrying that Yu Moxun might be taken away is understandable.

She’s anxious about Yu Moxun, afraid he’ll be stolen away—he can understand that.

But when she sees Lin Wu outshining her, she turns hostile toward Lin Wu, constantly suspecting every other woman of flirting with her boyfriend—that’s extremely off-putting.

Thinking of this, Ren Jifeng’s indifference toward Rong Ci turned into mild dislike.

Yu Moxun was momentarily free and glanced through the glass window toward Ren Jifeng and Lin Wu in the meeting room.

After watching for a few moments, he leaned close to Rong Ci’s ear and murmured, “Does Ren Jifeng like Lin Wu?”

Rong Ci was processing data and paused for a second before realizing who he meant by “Ren Jifeng.”

She replied coolly, “Probably.”

She truly didn’t care about this matter; after saying it, she pulled Yu Moxun back to work, telling him to stop gossiping.

After all, finish early, leave early.

Yu Moxun smirked: “What taste.”

After the comment, he dropped the topic.

Ren Jifeng saw Yu Moxun glancing their way and assumed he was looking at Lin Wu.

He also assumed Rong Ci frowned and pulled Yu Moxun away because she was angry he kept staring at Lin Wu.

Lin Wu hit a snag and stopped.

She wanted to ask Yu Moxun for advice, but when she looked over, she saw that both Yu Moxun and Xundu’s technical staff were all attentively listening to Rong Ci.

To an outsider, it would seem Rong Ci was an expert in technical skills.

Thinking of this, she withdrew her gaze.

Rong Ci and Yu Moxun worked until past five in the afternoon before finishing most of the tasks.

The contract between Zongxing and Xundu was also settled.

Jin Zong invited Rong Ci and Yu Moxun into the meeting room to rest and have some tea.

Seeing Ren Jifeng and the others had also finished their business, he said, “It’s getting late—why not have dinner together?”

Ren Jifeng’s heart stirred as he looked at Lin Wu.

Lin Wu acted as if she hadn’t noticed his gaze and said, “Sorry, Tingshen will come pick me up from Feng Shi soon—we have other plans, so I won’t join. Enjoy your meal.”

Hearing Lin Wu decline, Ren Jifeng instantly found the dinner unappealing and said, “I’ve got something else too. Maybe next time.”

Hearing Ren Jifeng say that, Lin Wu wasn’t surprised, but her expression remained unreadable.

Yu Moxun grew more convinced that Ren Jifeng was interested in Lin Wu.

He also realized Ren Jifeng only didn’t want to go because Lin Wu wasn’t going.

With both Ren Jifeng and Lin Wu declining, Jin Zong felt awkward and asked Yu Moxun, “Yu Zong, what about you two—”

Yu Moxun raised his teacup and clinked it against Rong Ci’s, smiling: “We’re free, aren’t we, Xiao Ci?”

Rong Ci knew his smile was teasing Ren Jifeng and nodded: “Mm.”

Lin Wu noticed that Yu Moxun truly cared for Rong Ci.

She frowned.

Though Ren Jifeng and the others had no time for dinner, their business was done, so they descended with Rong Ci and Yu Moxun to leave Xundu.

At that moment, Lin Wu received a call.

After hanging up, she said, “Tingshen’s almost here—I’ll go with you.”

When they reached the lobby, Feng Tingshen was already waiting outside.

Seeing them, he got out of the car and greeted Ren Jifeng and Yu Moxun.

He glanced at Rong Ci but didn’t speak to her.

Lin Wu, meanwhile, stepped beside him as soon as he got out.

The two looked together, truly like a genuine couple.

Ren Jifeng was chatting with Feng Tingshen when Yu Moxun smirked and said coldly, “Feng Zong, we’ve made dinner plans—let’s be off.”

Feng Tingshen: “Enjoy your evening, Yu Zong.”

Yu Moxun and Rong Ci left first.

After dining with Jin Zong and the others, Rong Ci drove home.

As soon as she arrived, He Zhangbai called.

Rong Ci paused, then answered: “He Zong.”

“The contract is signed,” He Zhangbai said. “You can call your uncle to confirm. Once confirmed, call me back.”

He hung up before she could respond.

Rong Ci hadn’t expected He Zhangbai to act so quickly.

Still, she didn’t trust him.

After thinking it over, she called Rong Changsheng: “Uncle, has the company partnered with the He family on a project?”

“Yes,” Rong Changsheng replied, delighted by the progress but puzzled: “How did you hear about this, Xiao Ci?”

“I heard it from someone,” Rong Ci brushed it off, asked him a few more questions, then hung up and immediately called He Zhangbai.

He Zhangbai answered instantly.

Rong Ci said, “I’m free Saturday and Sunday.”

He Zhangbai said, “Good. Should you arrange the time, or should I?”

“You arrange it.”

“Alright.”

After hanging up, Rong Ci took a shower. Since it was still early, she checked the latest global AI developments.

The next morning.

She had a light breakfast and was about to leave when He Zhangbai called again: “Last night I discussed it with Shan Shan—she wants to go skiing. Rong Xiao Jie, can you ski?”

Rong Ci: “Yes.”

She could ski.

He Zhangbai: “Do you need me to prepare skiing gear for you?”

“No, I’ll buy my own.”

“Alright. See you Saturday.”

“Mm.”

After hanging up, Rong Ci went to the company.

At five in the afternoon, Feng Jingxin called, saying she wanted to eat Rong Ci’s cooking.

Rong Ci went over that evening.

Feng Tingshen wasn’t home.

He was on a business trip.

Rong Ci stayed overnight there.

The next day, before dropping Feng Jingxin off at school, she remembered her plan to ski with Shan Shan on Saturday and retrieved the skiing gear she’d left behind, saving herself the trouble of buying new gear later.

Feng Jingxin saw it and asked, “Mom, are you going skiing?”

“Mm, in a few days.”

Feng Jingxin: “I want to go too!”

She’d only spent half a day at the ski resort the other day with Lin Wu and the others—she hadn’t had enough!
