Chapter 92: Divorce Agreement
Rong Ci took it.
It was a divorce agreement.
The first clause stated that he wanted custody of Feng Jingxin.
The rest listed the assets he was giving her—page after page of details.
She had come to him to ask about the progress of their divorce.
Now, seeing the divorce agreement, she flipped through it casually, didn’t read it closely, and placed it back on the table, saying, “I have no objections.”
Saying this, she opened her bag, pulled out a pen, and prepared to sign.
Rong Ci’s rise to power had been dishonorable.
Though he looked down on Rong Ci as a person, both Feng Tingshen and Qi Yuming had seen over the years how deeply Rong Ci loved Feng Tingshen.
Given how much Rong Ci loved Feng Tingshen, Qi Yuming had assumed she would be unable to accept the divorce, heartbroken, and refuse absolutely to let him go.
To his surprise, Rong Ci not only agreed to the divorce swiftly, but also had no objection to Feng Tingshen taking custody of their daughter.
This completely defied Qi Yuming’s expectations.
He looked at Feng Tingshen, disbelieving.
Feng Tingshen stared at Rong Ci, his gaze deep—as if he, too, was stunned by how readily she agreed to divorce him.
Rong Ci pulled out her pen, bent down to sign, then paused and withdrew it.
Seeing this, Qi Yuming smirked.
He knew Rong Ci couldn’t possibly—
Rong Ci said, “I’ll have my lawyer review this agreement tomorrow. Once I confirm there are no issues, I’ll sign it within two days and have my lawyer contact you.”
It listed many assets he was giving her; earlier, when she flipped through it, she’d even spotted shares in some of his companies.
Previously, when she gave him her divorce agreement, she asked for nothing from him.
Now that he’s offering, she won’t refuse.
They’d been married for years; he never loved her, but he never set traps for her either.
So when she saw him offering her his property, she’d wanted to sign immediately—but now she hesitated.
She feared there might be loopholes in the terms.
If there were loopholes, and his company ran into trouble later, she worried she’d be made a scapegoat because of these shares.
Feng Tingshen may not have intended to harm her when he had this agreement drafted.
But she couldn’t be sure that after he married Lin Wu, Lin Wu wouldn’t exploit these loopholes to destroy her.
Feng Tingshen seemed taken aback by her caution; he paused, then said, “Fine.”
Rong Ci nodded, placed the divorce agreement back in her bag, zipped it shut, said nothing more, and stood to leave.
Qi Yuming watched Rong Ci’s retreating back, still unable to believe it, and turned to Feng Tingshen: “Is she okay?”
Feng Tingshen watched Rong Ci leave; only then did he lower his gaze and reply coolly, “I don’t know.”
“And you’re trying to take custody of Xin Xin—yet she didn’t react at all. This is… too strange.”
Feng Tingshen paused: “...Mm.”
“Could she really not want custody of Xin Xin? That’s impossible—Xin Xin is her precious daughter!” At this, Qi Yuming suddenly asked Feng Tingshen: “Or… did you two already agree on custody beforehand?”
Feng Tingshen’s gaze darkened; after a pause, he said, “No. We never discussed it.”
“What the hell, then!”
Qi Yuming was beginning to doubt reality.
At that moment, Grandma Feng stepped off the elevator and said, “Dinner’s ready. Xiao Ci has already gone downstairs. Why are you two still sitting here? Come down and eat.”
Qi Yuming snapped back: “Oh, right, coming!”
Feng Tingshen also stood up.
Downstairs, Feng Jingxin sat happily on the sofa, leaning against Rong Ci and talking to her.
Rong Ci sat beside her, listening intently.
A warm, tender mother-daughter scene.
But knowing Rong Ci had surrendered custody of Feng Jingxin without a word, Qi Yuming found this scene utterly false.
Qi Yuming frowned.
Grandma Feng still didn’t know about Rong Ci and Feng Tingshen’s divorce.
She smiled and called out to Rong Ci and Feng Jingxin: “Xiao Ci, Xin Xin, come eat.”
Rong Ci and Feng Jingxin answered in unison: “Okay, coming!”
Feng Jingxin held Rong Ci’s finger and walked cheerfully toward the dining room.
Qi Yuming: “...”
When Qi Yuming arrived, he sat beside Feng Tingshen.
Rong Ci sat with Feng Jingxin.
Grandma Feng smiled: “Yuming, you haven’t been here in ages. When I saw you come, I had the kitchen prepare two extra dishes you like—be sure to eat plenty.”
Qi Yuming laughed: “Yes, Grandma! I’m taking all these meat dishes!”
Grandma Feng: “Good, good.”
Rong Ci served food to Feng Jingxin, carefully picking out fish bones—attentive, meticulous.
At first glance, it seemed no different from before.
But…
Qi Yuming couldn’t help glancing again.
Noticing Qi Yuming’s gaze, Rong Ci glanced at him coldly.
Qi Yuming froze.
In the past, because he, Feng Tingshen, and He Zhangbai were so close,
he knew Rong Ci desperately wanted to get along with him and He Zhangbai.
But they all ignored her.
Yet Rong Ci never gave up.
Though she wasn’t good at socializing, she would approach them warmly, greeting them with gentle smiles.
Now, Rong Ci’s gaze toward him was icy.
As if he were a stranger with no connection to her.
Only now did he realize: Rong Ci’s demeanor toward Feng Jingxin was the same—gentle and careful on the surface, but her eyes lacked the former warmth.
Now they were cold.
This…
Could it be fake?
He could understand Rong Ci’s change toward him—no one wants to keep chasing a cold shoulder.
But Xin Xin is her daughter.
How could this be?
Perhaps this is just another tactic of hers.
To draw Feng Tingshen’s attention—to win him back by pretending to retreat?
Thinking this, Qi Yuming turned his gaze away and looked at Feng Tingshen.
Then he realized: Feng Tingshen was indeed watching Rong Ci.
And he had no intention of looking away.
In the past, this would have been impossible for Feng Tingshen.
Qi Yuming smirked, bitterly amused.
He knew it.
Grandma Feng suddenly cleared her throat: “Yuming, what are you staring at?”
Seeing Qi Yuming fixated on Rong Ci all evening, Grandma Feng frowned.
Qi Yuming realized she might have misunderstood; he chose words she’d like to hear: “I just noticed Sister-in-law seems unusually quiet tonight, not speaking up to Tingshen—I found it odd, so I couldn’t help glancing a couple times.”
