Chapter 200: Life Energy, Subduing Rocket Raccoon

~8 min read 1,520 words

The currency in the Marvel universe is completely useless to Luode, Sargeras, and the like.

However, Luode's main goal is still to take this little raccoon away; threats definitely won't work, so he can only use inducement.

"Of course, I'm Rocket, and I've also locked onto the spaceship and planet of that guy called Star-Lord." Rocket said.

"So! Do you want to first go meet Quill to get the Infinity Stone and find that mysterious buyer, or go find Ego first?" Yongdu asked.

To be honest, he's gotten a bit curious about this so-called Infinity Stone—what exactly is it? Earlier, when someone asked them to look for it, he hadn't paid much attention, but now Yongdu does care, after all, it's worth 4 billion!

The scavengers together haven't earned that much money over the years.

"You don't need to know this now; knowing too much about what's inside the Infinity Stone isn't good for you." Luode said.

Luode brought Yongdu himself, the little raccoon, and Groot aboard his ship, along with a captive Yongdu; as for the remaining scavengers,

Luode left them there, and they'll drive off themselves after waking up. Yongdu, whose spaceship had departed, had already left them some advance notice.

The general idea is that I need to go accompany someone to handle some business, so have them stay at the scavengers' base first; I'll come back for them after I'm done.

"I want to ask a question: how did you two get to this barren planet? Besides my two scavenger ships, there shouldn't be any other ships around here." Yongdu looked at Rocket and Groot and asked.

"Oh, you're saying that? Your subordinates are a bit too stupid, so I just sneaked onto your ship." Rocket said nonchalantly.

"Hmph! Looks like I'll have to properly punish the gatekeeper when I get back."

"Absolutely, gatekeeping requires a reliable person; you picked that big idiot, heh!" Rocket, Yongdu, and Groot were chatting heatedly in the outer cabin.

Meanwhile, Luode, Sargeras, and a few others from Azeroth were in the inner cabin.

"Luode, what exactly is inside that Infinity Stone?"

"What's inside the Infinity Stone is the Power Stone, one of the Infinity Stones, and its buyer is the Collector over there.

"Soon after, a Reality Stone will be sent over."

The remaining Infinity Stones—the Time Stone and Mind Stone are on Earth, the Space Stone is in Asgard, and the last Soul Stone is rather special; but if Thanos were told its exact location, he'd likely go sacrifice his own daughter. (At this point the New York Battle had already occurred, and just a few months after Thor ended, the New York Battle happened.) "Is that the kind of energy you gave me? If so, I can try absorbing the power of this Infinity Stone." Azeroth said.

Now that her complete soul has arrived, she can naturally absorb more Infinity Stone energy.

"This time, we'll first get hold of that Power Stone, then bring along the son of that Celestial to kill him; his son has inherited his Celestial power and should be able to affect his true form."

"You mean they'll kill each other, father and son? Why is that?"

"His situation is somewhat special; this guy is a super stud, seeding offspring all over the universe, and the mother of this direct descendant is someone his father personally killed.

"So you understand—if we tell him all this, his son will definitely help us, even join our side." Luode said.

"His son is worth meeting; I'm quite curious about the offspring of a Celestial and a human." Sargeras said.

The Titan race cannot breed offspring unless the partner is also a Titan; although this Celestial's child is deformed, Sargeras is still fairly interested.

"Sal, should we bring back that Earth-based Celestial faction member this time?"

"I plan to first study their power; we must fully understand our enemy before striking—that's the best timing.

"Our goal this time is to seize the two Infinity Stone energies you mentioned.

"Then capture that aberrant Celestial and his son, and that'll be enough." Sargeras said.

Sargeras, restored with ordering power, wouldn't do irrational things.

"Also, the Celestial faction is still very strong; rashly offending them really isn't a good choice." Luode nodded and said.

After chatting a while longer, Luode and Azeroth returned to their room.

"That little raccoon, you seem quite interested—does it have anything special? According to my observation.

"It seems to be just an ordinary life form, or even merely a modified experimental subject." Azeroth asked curiously.

"I plan to bring him to our world; he's a very good research talent, and if he's willing to help me.

"then no matter what kind of technological item, this little guy can handle it." Luode said.

Since we've met Rocket, we have to lure him over to Azeroth no matter what.

After chatting a while with Azeroth, Luode got up and left; by then the others outside had dispersed, and Groot and Yongdu had already gone back to their rooms to sleep.

Meanwhile Rocket sat aside, fiddling with some high-tech small parts. "You're Rocket, right? Have you thought about what to do later?" Luode sat beside him and asked.

"What later? Heh! I never think about that; I just want to make money now." Rocket said, continuing to fiddle with the parts in his hand.

A fight may be coming up, so he needs to get some handy heavy gear; on this Skrull ship, Rocket found lots of useful little gadgets.

"Your manufacturing ability is strong; you're a top-tier scientist—how about coming to work for me?" Luode asked.

"Ha! Give me work—how much can you pay me?" Rocket looked up at Luode and asked.

This guy is pretty discerning, knows his own level; to put it bluntly, there aren't many in the universe smarter than him—he's never encountered a lifeform smarter than himself.

However, he won't live much longer; if the price is right, Rocket wouldn't mind working for him.

"I know your origin; you're an artificial lifeform created by something called Supreme Evolution."

Upon hearing that, Rocket's hand visibly trembled for a moment, he fell silent, then looked up at Luode.

"You're not here on his orders to capture me, are you?"

No wonder he knows my value! Turns out he knows about Supreme Evolution—could he be sent by Supreme Evolution to capture me?

"He can't command me; even if you're willing to work for me, I'll destroy him for you."

"That sounds interesting to me, but I won't live much longer; even if I work for you, I can't do it for long.

"I have at most about ten years left; my natural lifespan is under twenty years." Rocket said.

"If you're willing, I can use life energy to remodel your body, turning you into a normal living being—living decades, hundreds, even thousands of years is no problem." Luode said.

Sometimes the mythic system's world is just this twisted; the ultimate perfect lifeform Supreme Evolution wants—could you possibly surpass a Titan perfectly?

"Hahaha! That's the funniest joke I've ever heard, buddy—you're not joking, are you? I'm not easy to fool; my IQ is pretty high." Rocket fell to the ground, laughing loudly.

"Come feel it then!" Luode placed his hand on Rocket the raccoon's head; the latter instinctively tried to resist.

But the jade-green energy in Luode's palm made him feel an incomparable comfort and ease.

A stream of jade-green life energy, through Luode's palm, slowly entered Rocket the raccoon's body.

Then it began repairing his body—his body, which had been biologically altered and even spliced.

"Huh! Uh! Oh, I say, buddy, this is fucking comfortable."

"It's like soaking your whole body in a hot spring, or lying in a forest—anyway, it's an indescribable sense of comfort." Rocket showed an intoxicated expression and said.

Under Luode's infusion of life energy, the parts of his body that had been stitched together gradually merged, and his own life energy also increased.

A few minutes later, Luode withdrew his palm.

"Your body is relatively fragile; I only infused you with a little life energy, and it already reached your limit—your lifespan should now exceed a hundred years." Luode said.

"Really?" Rocket rose to his feet, half-believing, half-doubting, feeling his body extraordinarily light, brimming with vitality, full of strength, and with inexhaustible energy.

"I am Groot." The tree-person Groot had also appeared here at some point.

"You say his life energy is very similar to that of your clan?"

"This is a very precious power; my lifespan has indeed been increased." Rocket looked at Groot and asked.

"I am Groot." The tree-person Groot nodded.

"Exactly! Consider coming to work for me."

Oh! Right! Groot, my world has plenty of tree-people.

"If you, little arrow, are willing to work for me, I can take you to see and introduce you to a few tree-people." Luode smiled and said.

"I am Groot." Obviously, Luode's words moved the tree-person Groot, who looked at Rocket the raccoon with an expectant face.

"All right! All right! I only agreed for your sake."

All done.
