Chapter 284: Meow Meow King: Subordinates Planning a Mass Defection? Newborn

~11 min read 2,062 words

Standing before Arthas was a lich of immense size, clad in tattered robes—this was none other than the second-in-command of the Scourge Legion, Kel'Thuzad, Arthas's chief advisor.

"Yes, mighty Lich King, this resurrection is incredibly powerful. Their revival is not that of undead states—zombies, skeletons, or ghosts—but rather they have become something akin to living beings.

Their eyes differ slightly from those of the living, yet they feel no pain, can taste food, and smell odors.

Most importantly, they possess a strange form of immortality, along with infinite stamina and infinite energy." As Kel'Thuzad spoke, even the ghostly fire in his eyes flared for a moment.

This resurrection—this resurrection is far more perfect than his current state. It was for this reason that he came to Northrend long ago and pledged his loyalty to the Lich King.

Aside from the promised immense power, there was also the prospect of eternal life—becoming undead yet immortal, and maintaining a humanoid form in immortality.

Plus, immortality and infinite energy—these two sides are utterly incomparable; the more one compares them, the angrier one becomes.

Had it not been for my recent defeat, and only just now being revived via the Lich's Phylactery, I would still be on the Icecrown Glacier, suppressed by the Lich King's Helm of Domination.

Now, Kel'Thuzad wishes he had pledged himself to this demigod instead of serving a mere lich king.

This resurrection, this immortality—it is not merely his pursuit, but that of the vast majority of the Scourge undead.

Arthas gripped Frostmourne tightly, his eyes flashing with blue light.

If this new form of undead resurrection is truly as Kel'Thuzad claims, then for the Scourge Legion, it would be a tremendous threat!

However, as long as the Helm of Domination remains in my grasp, all undead must obey my command—they cannot possibly resist.

Kel'Thuzad can sense that within the Helm of Domination, many liches are voicing complaints—they too desire this perfect resurrection.

Indeed, to these liches, this is the ultimate resurrection: no need to worry about food, yet still able to savor its taste.

And they feel no pain—this is practically the perfect body, far surpassing that of the living.

But is this not also an opportunity for the Scourge Legion? If I were to obtain this resurrection spell for the undead...

And apply it to the entire Scourge army, then my undead legions would utterly annihilate the world, fulfilling my lifelong dream.

"Kel'Thuzad, do not rush—this new type of undead will inevitably join the Scourge Legion. I promise all of you liches: you too will be transformed into this immortal form, and you will be even more perfect than you are now." Arthas rose from his Frozen Throne, his tattered black cloak drifting behind him.

Beneath him, countless undead legions began to howl, their eyes igniting with blue ghostfire—the Scourge had been fully revived.

"Lich King, it is said this new undead magic was invented by a wild demigod of Azeroth. The reason it maintains a living state is likely due to the use of life energy.

This reminds me of a rumor." Kel'Thuzad approached Arthas, speaking with deep significance.

"Oh! What rumor have you recalled? Speak!"

"Great Lich King, do you still remember the Four Horsemen of the Scourge? The former Mograine once used a crystal of immense shadow power, and several paladins, through some transformation ritual, became mighty holy light crystals.

This holy light crystal reached the pinnacle of power; after being transformed from a shadow state, it gained unimaginable holy light power.

With this holy light crystal, Alexandros Mograine forged the immensely powerful artifact, Ashbringer.

After he slew the corrupted, Ashbringer too fell and was transformed into a death knight's weapon—equally mighty.

As everyone knows, the opposition of shadow is holy light, while the opposition of death is life—this wild demigod likely grasps this truth.

Thus, he has mastered this power over life and death, turning the originally dead undead into a different kind of living being." Kel'Thuzad spoke slowly.

The ultimate of holy light is shadow, and the ultimate of shadow is holy light. Then, is the ultimate of life death, and is the ultimate of death life?

Previously, none dared to think this way, but now, this wild demigod who commands the primal force of life seems to have given them an answer.

"If this is true, then why have the other wild demigods not mastered this magic?

Moreover, I have never heard of this Azure Dragon Wild Demigod. When I was prince of Lordaeron, I never encountered any record of him—what is his origin?"

Is it truly as Kel'Thuzad says—that the ultimate of death is life! This seems far too fantastical! Yet, given the prior events involving the holy light crystal and Ashbringer, he dare not dismiss this speculation. (In fact, this statement is correct: the undead of the Shadow Realm merely maintain a state of life.) Added to this, during this slumber, he has constantly heard a voice in his mind tempting him, even drawing his soul to a most peculiar place.

That realm showed him things unlike any before—advanced technology, strange new architectures.

But that voice—that damned self-proclaimed jailer—demands his submission! How could this be?

He is the Lich King—he will submit to no one; no one can restrict him.

"This wild demigod likely appeared suddenly about two years ago. At first, he was utterly insignificant—even merely an Alliance warlock.

Then, for unknown reasons, he somehow mastered a power to traverse worlds, seemingly connecting to another world, and from there brought forth an immensely powerful creature that intimidated the entire Horde before the gates of Orgrimmar.

Afterward, a miracle occurred: he inexplicably became a wild demigod, and moreover, the strongest of his kind.

Then he joined a powerful faction within the Horde, and subsequently created a new type of floating city, greatly increasing the Horde's strength.

Roughly a year ago, this powerful wild demigod led the Horde and Alliance armies in an assault on Outland, displaying unmatched power and defeating Illidan. Throughout that year, news of demigods spread across Azeroth—this demigod is truly a figure of great influence.

It is said that even the night elves acknowledge him as the greatest of wild demigods." Kel'Thuzad explained Luode's origins to Arthas.

As for why this wild demigod masters this miraculous resurrection magic while others do not—I, Kel'Thuzad, truly do not know.

"Things are getting more interesting—prepare our floating fortress. I will take the Black Knight Riders to meet this wild demigod in person." Arthas sheathed Frostmourne and spoke.

"What mighty Lich King—are you certain? You wish to personally meet this demigod? Forgive my bluntness, but this seems highly inappropriate.

This wild demigod currently resides in the Undercity, home of the Forsaken—or, as they are now called, the Newborn Undead. Their combat strength is formidable; taking only the Black Riders would likely be unwise." Kel'Thuzad spoke with great tact.

But what he truly wanted to say was: "You damn fool, don't rush to your death! The power this wild demigod displayed in the Outland war is nothing short of top-tier demigod level, while you, mighty Lich King, are merely at the threshold of demigod power—indeed, even on this Northrend land, you are not the strongest.

Your current strength comes solely from two items: one called Frostmourne, the other the Helm of Domination. As for your own innate ability—well, to put it bluntly...

Many people don't even regard you as worthy of notice—take the Titan Keepers, the Five-Flight Dragons, or even certain ancient Old Gods.

On this Northrend continent, the Lich King does not rank as the supreme—don't embarrass yourself further! This demigod is truly not someone you can bluff against!" "After all, I only defeated the demon hunter Illidan—I too once defeated him, and back then I wasn't even the Lich King. I appeared wearing the Helm of Domination, and all undead would obey my command—I could control his new-type undead." Arthas let out a cold snort.

Back when I was still the strongest death knight, I clashed with Illidan—and at that time, this demon hunter suffered a crushing defeat at my hands.

Now, having gained the Lich King's immense power and slept for five years, I have fully mastered this force—I am supremely confident I can control these new-type undead beings.

Through the power granted by the Helm of Domination.

"I still insist on my view: great Lich King, first consolidate Northrend's power—turn all the slain blue dragons into frost drakes.

Then transform all the newly discovered ancient Vrykul into undead, add them to your army to strengthen our forces, and only then seek a way to obtain this new resurrection magic." Kel'Thuzad spoke.

To acquire this new resurrection magic, we need not necessarily seek out this wild demigod—we only need to find a way to capture some of these specially resurrected, newborn undead.

Then I, the greatest archmage of Azeroth, the supreme lich, can study this special spell and see if it can be replicated!

If replication succeeds, this power will serve the Scourge Legion—only then will we have the standing to challenge this demigod.

"You mean, I should dispatch a force to go capture some of these special star-shaped undead, is that right?" Arthas asked.

"That's right, great Lich King!"

"So who do you think should go? To carry out this arduous task." Arthas looked at his most loyal and powerful strategist, Kel'Thuzad, and asked.

"I will go myself, and bring the Black Knight Brigade. My goal this time is to capture a new type of undead, then directly return to Northrend to begin research." Kel'Thuzad said.

By the way, get to see a certain powerful wild demigod; if this demigod lacks subordinates, I can conveniently help myself get rid of the Crown of Domination.

Kel'Thuzad doesn't mind changing bosses at all, after all, his current boss has a few screws loose, and his strength isn't much either, and he lacks cunning and scheming.

"You won't betray me, will you? Kel'Thuzad." Arthas narrowed his eyes and asked.

"You possess the Crown of Domination, great Lich King; all undead must obey your control. That new type of undead, I will capture it for you, then use the Crown of Domination to control it." Kel'Thuzad's massive skull mouth split open, letting out a strange laugh.

This Lich King has a blind confidence in the Crown of Domination, but Kel'Thuzad doesn't think so; the Crown of Domination once had a problem, so who dares to guarantee it won't have a second?

Moreover, this power is merely something bestowed by others!

"Besides bringing the Black Knight Brigade, you will also take Naxxramas Fortress, just in case. After you capture the new undead, head to Eastern Plaguelands; I have some things I want to confirm." Arthas said.

"As you command! Great Lich King."

The Scourge legion sprang into action—two floating fortresses, Kel'Thuzad's Naxxramas Fortress, and the Black Knight Brigade's Acherus Fortress, one large, one small, flying together toward Tirisfal Glades.

"Dear, now all the Forsaken have been resurrected, we feel we should give ourselves a new name; we can no longer be called the Forsaken." Sylvanas sat in Luode's embrace and spoke.

Previously they were called the Forsaken because of their hatred for the living, and because of their vengeful obsession with the Lich King, they remained in this world.

But now, due to the artificial demon fruit, and this special undead body, the new undead have already evolved into a race; calling them Forsaken now would be somewhat demeaning.

"Then you shall call yourselves the Newborn, or the Undead—how about that?" Luode said, finishing by embracing Sylvanas's smooth waist and continuously stroking it.

"The name 'Undead' is trash, but 'Newborn' is not bad; we have indeed gained a new life, so from now on we shall be called the Newborn, and the Forsaken shall be officially renamed Newborn." Sylvanas nodded and said.

"Hahaha! As long as you like it! Let's play a game—you go lie in front of the window, and we can enjoy the scenery while..."

Luode's arm secretly slid downward, secretly touching the queen's private area, going to steal river crabs from the grass to eat.

But for some unknown reason, the river crabs today turned into abalone.

"Well, your repertoire is quite varied; I'll go change into light armor." Sylvanas's face flushed slightly, she lifted Luode's chin and said. (End of chapter)
