Chapter 302: The Moon Goddess's Pacification, New World
Luode felt no affection for the Shadowlands, because the Shadowlands' judgment of the dead was unfair, riddled with huge loopholes.
Warden Zuowaer wasn't wrong about that, but Luode also didn't agree with the Warden's methods, since the Warden was essentially an extreme lunatic.
Saal had already asked his parents; after they died, they were each sent away.
His mother was found guilty and needed to atone for her sins; only after her transformation could she go to Marduk, the eternal battlefield.
His father, however, bore deep guilt for slaughtering too many Draenei, causing immense sin.
Thus he needed to atone for a long, long time in Revendreth before he could go to Marduk.
As for Hell Scream and Doomhammer, most other orc heroes didn't even get a chance to be reformed; they were thrown straight into the Maw.
In Revendreth, many weak souls were drained of all their mental energy and then vanished.
Why? Because the very existence of the Shadowlands depends on sustaining soul energy—wool comes from sheep, so soul energy is naturally deducted from the souls themselves.
Those who could truly be redeemed and live a normal life in the Shadowlands basically don't exist.
No matter which realm one goes to, one must follow its rules, complete its work, and that work is endless.
Saal's mother was tortured to the brink of madness; the Venthyr of Revendreth demanded she forget everything—her son, her husband—and fight wholeheartedly for Marduk.
To forcibly reshape a soul's thoughts, Marduk can use a flesh-forging process to turn these dead into another kind of life.
The Ascension Fortress, through some means, turns pure and noble souls into Ascendants; these noble souls lose all their former memories, becoming utter tools.
Other regions are no better—all of them squeeze souls for profit; compared to them, the Eastern Reincarnation is somewhat better.
"But this is the rule, this is the world's rule—all souls after death must walk this path."
"We immortal beings don't need it, but for mortal lives, this is a necessary course of their existence." Tyrande said.
"Then who set these rules?" Luode said.
"The Shadowlands didn't form naturally; it's more like a place created by the Primordials to collect souls."
"After reaching the Shadowlands, these souls are altered by some force into other life forms—no longer mere souls."
"Even the Eternals, in the Primordials' Holy Tomb, are merely prototype machines—basically artificial life."
"Do you really want to change all this? Luode, you also said that's another world, unrelated to ours!"
"Please, don't meddle in this anymore—stop summoning souls from that world; the Moon Goddess Elune will take care of it."
"But don't summon Shadowlands souls anymore; the souls wandering this world, you can do whatever you like with them." Tyrande said.
"This world is full of injustice—ordinary mortals live only decades or a century, yet the Night Elves can live ten thousand years, and even Dragonkin blessed with Titan power have eternal lifespans; who can mortal races turn to for justice?"
"This world inherently contains much unfairness; if you obsess over it, you're dead wrong."
"You see things more openly than others; indeed, as you said, I understand—I won't summon any more souls from the Shadowlands." Luode said with a smile.
"The Shadowlands does have many injustices, but as long as they don't affect me, it's none of my business—perhaps someday when I'm strong enough."
"I could turn the Warcraft Universe into my own backyard, build a truly functional Underworld, but now isn't the time."
"The road I must walk still stretches far, far ahead!"
"As long as you understand, that's fine—this world has too much injustice for one person to fix; let it go. The Shadowlands won't cause you trouble."
"The Shadowlands' Winter Queen and Elune are sisters; they'll sort everything out for you." Tyrande said.
"Thank the Winter Queen and Elune for me; I'll repay their sisterly favor in the future." Luode said.
"As for repaying that favor, it's simple—when I conquer the whole Shadowlands, I'll spare the Winter Queen your life."
"If you're feeling down, I can today go along with your wishes, wear the clothes you like, how about some roleplay?"
"Hahaha! I'm not as fragile as you think, but if you want to use this method to cheer me up, I'm quite willing.
"Tyrande, how about you pretend to be the Moon Goddess Elune today?" Luode said with a laugh. "Let's cut loose! In the Moon Goddess Temple, you'll play the Moon Goddess."
Tyrande first showed a hint of surprise, then a blue-white light flashed in her eyes, and she gave a bewitching smile.
"As you wish, Luode—I am Elune, I am the Moon Goddess."
The two smiled at each other; Tyrande quickly changed into the clothes Luode liked and expected, then they began exchanging life-force energy, enjoying the most primal vitality.
At the same time, Luode infused Tyrande's body with chakra power, granting her mastery over chakra.
Tyrande's body was covered in white moonlight, looking exactly as if the true Moon Goddess had descended to the mortal realm.
Only at dawn did they finish infusing life-force and exchanging chakra techniques.
"How do you feel? A bit better?" the Moon Goddess said, leaning against Luode's chest.
"I'm much better! Your comfort is still the most effective." Luode said, stroking Tyrande's smooth back.
"While you're still weak, don't provoke the Shadowlands—I, ahem! —the Moon Goddess will handle it for you."
After another moment of tenderness, at dawn Luode left the Moon Goddess Temple and returned to the Undercity.
Left behind was a conflicted Tyrande, looking at her own goddess speechlessly: "Goddess, are you really okay with playing yourself? And Luode, you jerk—did you genuinely not notice, or are you pretending not to?"
"Now Sylvanas is busy preparing for the Northern Expedition, mobilizing the newborn clans to go destroy Arthas."
"Kael'thas's Blood Elves are cleansing their ranks, purging those corrupted by Naaru magic, while also stockpiling supplies for another round of the Northern Expedition."
"My adopted son, the God of Holy Light, is gathering the holy light of the entire human world; lately many legendary human heroes have come to the Holy Light Wish Chapel, and the most powerful figures are the Princess of Lordaeron and Archbishop Faol."
"Their arrival was warmly welcomed by Tirion, Fordring, and Uther; although many in the allied forces bore ill will toward Princess Jaina, with the two big shots and the God of Holy Light suppressing them, no one dared speak out."
"Luode instead became the most idle person in the Undercity."
"A few days ago, Luode stepped through a portal into the Twisting Nether, arriving above the planet Argus."
"He wanted Sargeras to help, using stellar energy to feed the Ten-Tails, but the receptionists Archimonde and Kil'jaeden informed him that Sargeras is still in seclusion."
"Still lacking research on New World powers, if he wanted to meet Sargeras it would take several more months, so Luode had no choice but to leave Argus helplessly."
"Why do these powerhouses need so long each time they retreat to digest energy? During this period Luode also contacted Thor, who was happily hitting it off with a certain blue dragon lady."
"The two are currently traveling the Broken Isles; reportedly Thor seeks the Guardian Odin and also wants to meet the Vrykul King of the area."
"For a while Luode became the most bored of all—even his father-in-law had retreated, seeking to break through a new realm and become a demigod through his own strength."
"Really boring—why not just go explore the New World alone? After all, there's nothing else to do; explore the New World and come back in two months."
First, investigate what kind of world this is, then decide how to deal with it to obtain more benefits.
After bidding farewell to Xī'ěrwǎnàsī and others, Luode directly activated his spatial ability and headed to a new world.
A flash of light passed, and Luode appeared in a picturesque mountainous wild area; a long asphalt road stretched straight ahead, while the surroundings were lush green forests, grasslands, and lakes.
Cars occasionally passed on the road, beautiful singing came from inside the vehicles, drivers leisurely listened to the song, enjoying the drive.
Some were holding smartphones making calls, looking quite content; besides the road there were also facilities such as gas stations and service areas.
In the distant forest, on the grasslands and wilderness, all kinds of monsters were jumping up and down, running across the wilderness.
Wait! This art style is somewhat off! Why? Not far away are all kinds of monsters, yet you can still drive cars leisurely on the road!
Looking at your relaxed expressions, this isn't some apocalyptic world, right? Why would monsters whose art style is completely off appear here! Some monsters are even the size of calves, with sharp teeth and exoskeletal skin, looking absolutely not to be provoked; there are many more like them, even some of huge size.
With asphalt roads, drivers making calls on smartphones while driving cars, this should be a modern setting!
But why would such monsters, which only exist in fantasy worlds, appear here? What a bizarre world! (End of chapter)
