Chapter 62: Kaido's Dragon Scales, the Mysterious Voice (Update Seeking Subscriptions)

~8 min read 1,515 words

You're kidding, Kaido and his transformed divine dragon can control wind, fire, lightning, and thunder, and call forth wind and rain.

Moreover, after arriving in the Azeroth world, Luode and Kaido have already tested it; here seawater cannot harm Devil Fruit users, so they can soak in the sea completely unharmed.

Therefore, in the Azeroth world, the power of the Fish-Fish Fruit Azure Dragon Form truly perfectly replicates the legendary dragon, possessing all of its abilities.

"You can control the elemental forces of nature, right? Just like those shamans." Sylvanas asked.

To wield elemental power, mages can do it, warlocks can do it, shamans can do it; shamans gain it by communicating with elemental spirits and borrowing their strength.

Mages do it through arcane energy to drive the frost and flame in nature, while warlocks rely on fel magic.

Living beings themselves can wield natural forces, but only some elemental creatures and special life forms, such as giant dragons, wild demigods, or the Loa spirits worshipped by trolls.

The colossus looming in the sky before them oppressed Sylvanas feeling not much less than Archimonde did.

Armor made from his scales will definitely be quite powerful.

"Alright, Kaido! Hurry up and break off a few scales so we can test them." Luode shouted at Kaido in the sky.

"What a hassle! Wait a moment." Kaido covered a dragon claw with Armament Haki, Conqueror's Haki, and the newly learned Rage, lightly slashing his own body, causing a dozen huge blue dragon scales to fall off.

Now his defense has increased a bit; even if he tried to hurt himself it would be somewhat difficult, requiring the combined coverage of Armament Haki, Conqueror's Haki, and Rage.

Each dragon scale is over half a meter in diameter, enormously huge; after falling to the ground, these scales retained their original perfection and smoothness, unchanged.

Kaido was also a bit surprised by this; he hadn't expected that in this world, after his Devil Fruit transformation into dragon form, the scales wouldn't turn into fragments of his original human skin? "Alright, father-in-law, you see no problem, right? I said this would work—now change back to human form and come down!" Luode nodded satisfactorily and spoke.

Now we have the material for armor; these dozen-odd large scales should be enough to forge several sets of armor—one for Sylvanas, one for myself, and one for Yamato.

As for Kaido himself, he doesn't need this, but it's time to boost his magic resistance; his physical defense is maxed out, but his magic defense still needs improvement.

The gigantic divine dragon in the sky at this moment lifted its head to gaze upward, then slowly closed its eyes.

Down below, Luode was a bit bewildered—what the hell is Kaido doing? Why doesn't he come down? Suddenly, lightning and thunder erupted in the sky, bolts frenziedly striking down, the whole sky filled with thunderclaps, and massive dark clouds began to appear, shrouding the entire Tirisfal Glades.

Boom—boom—boom!

Lightning in the sky kept striking down; Kaido's transformed gigantic dragon lifted its head, as if inhaling something.

"I sense it—a vast amount of arcane energy is gathering, converging upon a life resembling a cloud-soaring dragon." The blood elf mage standing beside Sylvanas said.

Time drifted slowly; Kaido in the sky kept circling, his huge dragon head seeming to furrow its brows, as if unwilling.

Finally, he sighed helplessly, returned to the ground, and shifted back into Kaido's form.

"Damn it, just a little more, just a little more, and I'd hear that voice and grasp a new power." Kaido slammed a fist into the ground, speaking somewhat irritably; the whole slope shuddered.

"What's going on, Kaido? What did you just mean?" Luode asked.

"When I transformed and flew up just now, I felt as if I were about to hear a voice, then I sensed a new energy trying to enter my body; I tried to absorb it, but the fel power within me resisted strongly, blocking that energy." Kaido said.

"It felt like hearing a voice, sensing a new energy trying to enter you, but being blocked by your fel power?"

"That special energy must be Arcane Energy. Arcane Energy springs from order; this energy and fel are opposites, yet fel is the bane of Arcane Energy—Sargeras, wielding fel, once wiped out the entire Pantheon in one fell swoop."

"You should know that even though Sargeras was the Pantheon's greatest warrior, he couldn't withstand a ganging up by the six Titans."

"But you can't say arcane energy is inferior to fel; against other primal forces, it can sometimes be more useful."

"As for the voice Kaido heard, it surely isn't some demon, right?"

"Kil'jaeden's Burning Legion can capture beings via some magical means; surely they wouldn't target Kaido?" "Kaido, what did that voice say to you? What general meaning did it convey?" Luode asked.

"It sounds like, like a woman's voice; only by pushing my Observation Haki to the limit could I barely catch a whisper, as if her voice filled heaven and earth, yet also seemed utterly silent." Kaido rubbed his chin and said.

"What? You're certain it's a female voice, not some demon's whisper trying to tempt you?" Luode asked.

"I'm quite sure it's not. I know the kind of demon creature you mean; you've told me before—with my Conqueror's Haki and Observation Haki I can sense that this entity is strong, extremely strong, but for some reason I feel it's right before me, yet I can't see or touch it." Kaido said.

"How strange—back in Azeroth, when I was in Orgrimmar earlier I also transformed into dragon form, so why didn't I hear the voice you mentioned? It seems I guessed what Luode was thinking." Kaido said.

"Your Observation Haki is still too weak, kid; wait until you can foresee the future before talking—otherwise you'll hardly manage to catch that voice." Kaido said.

Hearing this, Luode frowned, "Hold on! A woman's voice, immensely powerful—clearly we can sense her presence, yet we can't see or touch her!"

"No way, no way, no way—could it be this young lady? Could it be Ayi?"

"The yet-to-be-born Azeroth world-soul, a life-form not yet born on the Azeroth planet, in the original setting the strongest of the Titans—once born, its power would far surpass Sargeras."

"Could the voice Kaido heard be the world-soul of the Azeroth planet? Just now, the world-soul was drawing arcane energy from heaven and earth into Kaido's body, but it failed due to the fel power."

"Did she convey any information to you, Kaido?" Luode asked.

"Still, we can't be careless; back then the Burning Legion once deceived orcs through some means, making the warlock Nairoz feel he'd received the call of his ancestral spirit and his own wife, but it was actually a demon's whisper."

"However, with Kaido's current strength, to invade his mind would require Sargeras himself to step in."

"Although Kaido's magic resistance is weak, his mental energy is certainly not lacking."

"How would I know what she said? If I'd heard it clearly I wouldn't be doubtful; perhaps when my Observation Haki advances further, enabling me to listen to all things, I'll be able to hear what she says." Kaido said.

"When Observation Haki is trained to the extreme, one can hear the voices of all things, even the planet's voice."

"Let's not worry about that for now; I've given you the scales—do you need anything else?" Kaido asked.

"For now that's all; I'll take these materials to the master smiths to have a look. I plan to forge three sets of armor—one for me, one for Yamato, and one for the Banshee Queen Sylvanas; if there's any left over we'll discuss later." Luode said.

"Suit yourself! If the quality turns out good, I'll outfit every high-ranking member of the Beasts Pirates with a set!" Kaido said.

After saying that, Kaido stood up, took the transformation potion Luode handed him, shrunk to a two-meter stature, and headed to Undercity to rest.

After all, given Kaido's original size, there's nowhere for him to stay in Undercity; if he wanted to lodge there, he'd have to use the transformation potion.

"I'm still very eager; come over and see what the texture of these scales is like." Sylvanas ordered her subordinates—a bunch of dwarven Forsaken blacksmiths and blood elf mages—to begin examining the scales.

A bunch of Forsaken dwarves took up hammers and hammered the dragon scale material, then ran various experiments, afterwards wearing looks of delight.

"Excellent material; its texture is extremely hard, far surpassing ordinary dragon scales—it can be used to forge weapons as well as armor."

"It can bear magical inscriptions, undergo enchantment and engraving; it's top‑grade material."

"If we could bring these supreme dragon scales to Ironforge, we could get better forging—what a pity." A Forsaken dwarf said.

The smithy in Undercity can barely manage; compared to Ironforge it's far inferior, and after becoming Forsaken their high‑temperature tolerance also dropped considerably, imposing many constraints when forging weapons.

What a shame—we can never go back; now they are Forsaken.
