Chapter 124: First Appearance of the Subhuman Race
Seeing Queen Wayne, the Northern Witch Council, and one of its twelve leaders, Kretya, whose small hand was tightly clenched, one could tell how utterly broken she was mentally at that moment.
Under the gaze of his daughter in his own name, a technique that was originally very unfamiliar suddenly became much more advanced.
This inevitably made Fulade feel very surprised.
Cinderella blinked her bright eyes, and a hint of watery emotion gradually rose.
On her cute, delicate nose tip, fine beads of sweat unexpectedly appeared; she forced her weakening legs to endure and, under Fulade's command, began to observe.
Even though she knew it was improper, out of blind worship, faith, and gratitude toward Fulade, Cinderella forced her shyness aside and kept observing all the way.
As a strong hand forcefully pressed down, accompanied by a rapid breath, the matter finally came to an end.
"It's... arrived~"
As Fulade stood up, Kretya, whose eyes were misted with water, like a humble maid, dutifully helped Fulade put on his clothes.
Seeing this, Cinderella also forced her embarrassment aside and stepped forward to help serve.
Her gaze wandered, occasionally sweeping curiously back and forth, yet she dared not look closely, fearing her deity would notice.
Looking at the Cinderella before him, who resembled a startled fawn, Fulade couldn't help finding it somewhat amusing.
He reached out, gently stroking her golden hair; this intimate gesture made Cinderella overjoyed.
Likewise, this caused the other side—Queen Wayne, still beautiful, sensual, dignified and charming—to cast envious glances.
"The Northern Witch Council is the earliest spellcaster organization to appear in the Dark World; its power is great, and even the Holy Court in the past dared not provoke it excessively."
"Now, with the Prince's rise, the cultivation environment has improved, and its strength, I fear, has far surpassed that of the past," Angelique said.
Beside them, Queen Wayne Kretya, upon hearing this, first felt puzzled, then suddenly widened her eyes as if recalling something, and hurriedly exclaimed, "Lord, you, you are indeed the legendary King of Darkness—Fulade!!"
Hearing the nearby exclamation, Fulade slightly turned his head and gave a cold glance.
Kretya, seeing Fulade's cold, proud gaze, quickly covered her plump red lips, suppressing the forthcoming exclamation.
Yet one could still see the excitement on Queen Wayne's face.
Clearly, the fact that this overwhelmingly powerful man who had conquered her was the legendary King of Darkness Fulade deeply shook Kretya's spirit.
Don't be fooled by Kretya's over‑forty age; due to years of magical experiments and little socializing, her mental age is actually not that old.
Likewise, because of her focus on magical experiments, this prompted King Wayne to seek Cinderella's mother, finding time to meet his lover privately.
Just as Kretya's face was full of shock, a crisp exclamation rang out.
"This is the passage leading to the Underground World."
Before them stretched an endless expanse of craters of all sizes.
Within these craters lay a dense network of intersecting underground caverns.
Here one could see many Demon Hunters and adventurers moving in and out of the craters.
Among them were also plenty of witches clad in magical robes.
Perhaps sensing the doubt in everyone's eyes.
Kretya explained, "This area is the border between the Cave Dwellers' and Grey Dwarves' realms; here there are not only Cave Dwellers and Grey Dwarves, but also many other Subhuman groups living underground."
"These people are adventurers who have passed the Northern Witch Organization's vetting to come here for training or gold‑panning."
"In this vast Underground World lie many Magic Resources that have long vanished from the surface; these can be exchanged for magic elixirs, enchanted gear, gold coins, and other rewards crafted by the Northern Witch Organization."
"At the same time, it's to clear the Subhuman groups that frequently surge onto the surface, preventing neighboring nations from severe disturbances." "The Subhumans you mention that burst onto the surface must be those low‑intelligence, lower‑grade Subhumans, right?"
When Fulade lifted his head to signal, everyone hurriedly looked up.
A light footstep sounded, and a humanoid about 1.3 meters tall appeared before them.
Its somewhat broad feet slowly moved toward the cave entrance, arms hanging, alert to the surroundings, ready to use both hands and feet to flee quickly.
Its hands bore spindle‑shaped, darkened nails, displaying sharpness.
If not for the footstep breaking the nearby silence, his trace would have been hard to spot.
As it slowly emerged from the cavern, sunlight illuminated its body.
Its coal‑black eyes occupied a third of its head, its bluish‑gray scaly skin, and its sharp, protruding teeth.
It shifted its steps lightly, with minimal stride.
Its slender ears twitched, constantly listening to the surroundings, occasionally looking up.
Not far in front of it lay a blood‑soaked piece of flesh.
As hunger surged, the previously cautious, timid gaze quickly gave way to greed and hunger.
Just as it was about to bring the bloody flesh to its mouth, a loud shout rang out.
A Demon Hunter clad in black armor, wielding a greatsword, let out a fierce howl and swung violently at the tiny humanoid creature.
Facing the sudden turn of events.
"Eeya~~~" the tiny humanoid cried out, a shrill wail like a baby's sob, neglecting the food in its hands, it quickly dropped to all fours and rushed toward the rear of the cavern, narrowly dodging danger.
The burly Demon Hunter, seemingly unwilling to let the prey escape, flashed a blue light beneath his feet, leapt with a spring, and shot upward at a speed that matched the tiny humanoid, pursuing it.
From a viewpoint hidden from the Demon Hunter.
While the humanoid screamed and fled, a pair of bluish‑gray palms began to emit a black glow, using the dim cave light and its body as cover, preventing the Demon Hunter from noticing in time.
Just as the greatsword was about to descend, the humanoid's black‑glowing hands suddenly merged, its body twisting to slash at the Demon Hunter's neck.
Two streaks of blood flashed; the Demon Hunter twisted his neck in time to avoid the fatal blow, yet a blood‑soaked gash exposing his gums appeared on his beard‑filled face before everyone.
Accompanied by a faint charred crackle, wisps of blue smoke rose.
Clearly, the tiny humanoid's attack was highly corrosive.
On the other side, the tiny humanoid also gained no benefit; a spray of green blood erupted, its slender left arm left with only a piece of flesh still attached, not completely severed.
The Demon Hunter gritted his teeth against the pain, swiftly drew a bottle of magic elixir shimmering with red starlight from his chest, poured half into his mouth and smeared the other half onto the corrosive wound.
Watching the humanoid, crying like a child all the way, flee toward the underground cavern, he pursued into the dark subterranean cavern, his aura filled with malice.
Clearly, regarding this foe who had nearly taken his life, the Demon Hunter had lost his sanity, wanting only to kill the opponent before it vanished, to settle his hatred.
At the same time, that corpse of a subhuman capable of using simple magic might perhaps make up for some of his losses.
Standing at the edge of the crater, Cinderella stared at the scene before her, mouth agape in stunned bewilderment, clearly still unable to process the bloody clash she had just witnessed.
"High troglodyte, skilled in elemental enchantment," Queen Crendia of Wayne said, recounting as though listing family treasures.
"That low troglodyte just now was actually able to perform simple elemental enchantment; it seems its ancestors were very likely high troglodytes."
