Chapter 24: Troll, Hunter Demon, Witch

~6 min read 1,157 words

"Wh‑why is this happening!" the two women opened their tempting little mouths wide, their faces full of disbelief.

Malisika and Ailina, hidden in the shadows observing, were clearly shocked by the sudden scene before them.

They had originally thought that the nymph would unambiguously eliminate those members of the Hunter Demon Squad.

In the end, they did not expect such a completely unforeseen situation to occur.

After a brief moment, the two women recovered from their shock, turned their heads together, and looked at Fulade, apparently hoping to get the answer they wanted from the Master.

"He—he isn't a human, is he? How could that be!"

Fulade's deep gaze lingered for a moment before he said to the two women:

"No, he is not human."

"To be precise, he is not a pure human, but a half‑human, half‑troll hybrid."

"Hybrid!?"

"Th‑this… how could this be possible?"

The two instantly imagined a scene—one large, one small—and collectively shivered; suddenly, Ailina recalled a phrase Fulade had once told them, "You've all sensed it wrong," and instantly grasped its meaning.

"So that's it," Ailina murmured.

Malisika, puzzled, looked at the somewhat dazed Ailina and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

Regaining her composure, Ailina relayed her recent speculation to Malisika, and for a moment both women fixed their gaze on Fulade.

Fulade did not answer; after giving the two women a slightly meaningful glance, he continued, "Watch what follows."

【7】 "Watch what follows? What does that mean."

"Read on? What does that mean?"

The two women exchanged puzzled looks, then a flash of insight struck them almost simultaneously: Could there be… more!

As a shadow rose before them, the Jibalo Nymph looked up; her small mouth, studded with tiny red gems, involuntarily widened considerably, clearly impressed by the opponent's move.

"Ah—!!"

The jewel‑adorned Jibalo Nymph seemed to have seen something astonishing; her golden‑scaled skin suddenly flushed oddly, she covered her eyes and let out an instinctive scream.

Meanwhile, Ailina and Malisika, still hidden in the shadows, couldn't help but spit, their faces flushed as they turned away.

Seeing this, Fulade's eyelids twitched uncontrollably and his face darkened.

"Damn, you've soiled my eyes."

At this moment, as the bald brute completed his troll transformation, his mind seemed to regain a hint of clarity; when he looked at the Jibalo Nymph, his eyes were filled with fury.

"Aaargh—!!" he roared angrily, the bald troll swinging a sandbag‑sized fist and suddenly smashing it toward the Jibalo Nymph.

Seizing the opportunity, the Witch Famic behind them began chanting a sour‑tasting, tongue‑twisting incantation, and strands of high‑temperature flame started appearing around her.

Nearby, Ray Jason, seeing this, pulled a bottle of green demon elixir from his coat, tipped it back and gulped it down; in an instant a powerful aura surged upward from him.

Ray Jason's eyes turned completely black; raising his weapon, he charged toward the Jibalo Nymph in the Heart-shaped Lake at a speed many times beyond that of ordinary people.

Apparently sensing some inexplicable danger, the Jibalo Nymph, flustered, dodged the troll's assault and let out another clear cry.

This time, however, it was directed at the troll alone. As the Jibalo Nymph's piercing shrieks rang out and her seductive dance continued, the bald brute, now transformed into a troll, roared, suddenly spun around, swung his arms, and slammed toward the Ray Jason who was attacking from behind.

The unprepared Ray Jason was instantly struck by the sandbag‑sized fist, turned into a projectile, flew dozens of meters away, and finally halted after crashing into a massive stone.

Yet this heavy blow did not seem to inflict overly serious injuries on Ray Jason.

Because at the crucial moment, a powerful energy erupted within Ray Jason, forming a semi‑transparent shield; although it lasted only a second, it alleviated at least seventy percent of the impact, leaving him with only minor injuries.

The Jibalo Nymph clearly hadn't expected Ray Jason to be so resilient; just as she was about to team up with the troll to finish him off, a scorching flame, like a swift fish, streaked through the air and instantly struck the Nymph's body.

"Boom—!!"

A massive roar rang out, accompanied by a towering column of water.

At this moment, Witch Famic rode an ebony staff, hovering in midair, surveying her battle results.

Yet, despite the graceful expression on her face, there was no joy of having successfully struck the Nymph.

"Yaa—! ~ah!"

A rage‑filled, piercing screech burst out instantly, striking the hovering Witch Famic and sending her plummeting into the forest.

It turned out the Nymph, at the crucial moment, fell into the water, which mitigated part of the flame spell's damage.

Nevertheless, some burn marks still appeared on the Nymph's scorching body.

The angry Nymph uttered the first words she had spoken since appearing.

"Greedy humans~ you will pay the price for this." Though her voice was a bit raw, it was exceedingly melodious.

As the words faded, the Nymph, with a fiery, seductive dance and a clear singing voice, aimed at Ray Jason, who was grappling with the troll nearby.

Though Ray Jason's strength could not match the troll's, as a rightful descendant of the Hunter Demon lineage, he relied on his internal energy to move nimbly around the troll, inflicting gory, terrifying wounds upon it.

Perhaps because the troll was considered a comrade, Ray Jason did not strike at its vital points.

Consequently, the restrained Ray Jason, after the Nymph attacked him, trembled; a hint of struggle flashed in his black pupils, allowing the troll to seize the moment and deliver a crushing punch.

As splashes erupted, Ray Jason was also slammed into the lake bottom, strands of blood slowly surfacing with the ripples.

Not long after, Ray Jason's body rose to the surface, but he was already on the brink of death.

Looking around, Ray Jason's skull had been indented halfway by the troll's massive force; his eye socket was empty where a black eye had vanished, and bright red blood mixed with streaks of yellow‑white seeped out, making it clear he could not survive.

Meanwhile, the Witch Famic, having been slammed into the forest, after just bursting out of the woods, discovered Ray Jason dead and the troll now controlled by the Nymph; realizing she could hardly continue to resist, she let out an angry shout, and without looking back, leapt skyward, fleeing the area.

Watching all this, Ailina and Malisika, seeing the tragic, twist‑filled battle scene, couldn't help but silently click their tongues in disbelief.

If they were in the same position, they probably wouldn't fare any better.

"What a pity!"

Watching the troll, finally controlled by the Nymph, raise a longsword to commit suicide, Fulade couldn't help but sigh.

In fact, even Fulade was surprised that a tiny Hunter Demon Squad could possess a Witch, a troll, and a legitimate blood‑line Hunter Demon—three exceptionally powerful beings.
