Chapter 51: Village Turmoil
Right, be careful and go slower, watch the angle.
Wuwu~
Hold on a little longer.
Wuwu—ugh~ I can't, so tired.
Sibyl lifted her small head, her face flushing with shame, looking pitiful.
Sigh, then that's that.
Seeing Fulade looking uncomfortable, Sibyl felt a bit guilty.
Brother Fulade, if you're still feeling bad, we can—
"Enough, I've promised Malina. Before her, we can't," Fulade said.
Hearing that, Sibyl sprang to her feet, incredulous, and said, "Sister Malina, she knows!"
You stupid girl, you're just one step away from writing the words on your face; unless Sister Malina is blind, she would see it.
"I... I'm not doing it on purpose," Sibyl said plaintively.
Looking at Sibyl's charming, delicate face, a pallid expression spread.
Fulade pulled her frail, supple body into his arms and whispered comfort.
"Don't worry, that little thought of yours—Malina already knew it before, she just hadn't exposed it."
"Did I... was I that obvious before?"
Seeing Sibyl's bewildered face, Fulade raised an eyebrow and retorted.
"What do you think?"
Sibyl sobbed, her small face saying, "Wuwu~ How should I face Malina from now on?"
"Weren't you brave before? Why worry now?"
Sibyl, a bit embarrassed, said, "Before, I thought I was going to get married, that's why I went all out."
Seeing Sibyl's tangled expression and eager face, Fulade stopped teasing; once you provoke her, this little girl can really make you see her tears.
Gently lifting Sibyl's delicate chin, Fulade looked into her eyes and said, "Loosen your heart; Sister Malina doesn't hold any grudge against you."
In Sibyl's big eyes, full of hope, she said, "Really~."
"Really, I'm not lying to you."
"Otherwise, Sister Malina, why would she say that?" Fulade hinted.
Hearing that, Sibyl finally relaxed.
Then, Brother Fulade, do you still want it? I can keep going.
Fulade shook his head, "Forget it, it's already late; let's wait for another day."
"Oh~ Since that's the case, go keep Sister Malina company today."
"Alas, it's not."
Bang~
Staring at the tightly shut door, having been kicked out of the room again, Fulade was left dumbfounded.
"Ha~ What a pair of good sisters," Fulade muttered, shaking his head gloomily.
He could only find a random room and fell asleep.
Fulade didn't stay long at Tangdon Manor.
But by the evening of the next day, Fulade had already left.
Gugu~ Gugu~
In the night, hoots of owls echoed repeatedly from a large tree.
The calls were loud, as if warning something in the forest. If you look closely, the owl's eyes glimmered with a faint light, staring unblinking at a direction, its hoot growing increasingly urgent and resonant.
Until a chilling, eerie cold flashed through the night forest, and the sound oddly fell silent.
The confused owl blinked its luminous eyes, gazing at the unchanged forest; its round head could not fathom where that sudden cold had come from.
Just as the owl gave up thinking and prepared to resume its work, a massive moving eerie shadow suddenly tore through the silent forest night sky, heading west.
Through the owl's glowing pupils, one could see that the black shadow covering the whole forest was composed of countless black bats swarming like a tide.
Weierweiya.
Count Victor's domain.
Burning, scorching flames ripped through the night, illuminating the dilapidated village; on the ground lay villagers drenched in blood, some dead, some gasping.
Rows of soldiers clad in black armor brandished torches, moving through the village, setting everything they saw ablaze, whether corpses or surviving villagers.
The burning wood of houses, the acrid smoke, the charred odor of corpses, and a faint musk mingled in the air, constantly irritating the nearby soldiers' keen noses and palates.
From the still-alive villagers, occasional screams rose, as the raging fire devoured their lives.
Yet the armored soldiers watched with cold eyes, none showing any emotion, as if observing lambs being slaughtered.
Kach— Kach—
"Squeak—" accompanied by the scrape of armor, a fully armed soldier pushed open a tightly shut farmhouse.
From beneath his helmet, a pair of pale blue pupils were visible.
His expression indifferent as he scanned everything; upon spotting a villager lying on the ground, the soldier instinctively moved forward to inspect.
Raising his long sword, he gently lifted the villager's body to turn it over, but unexpectedly, a sudden anomaly occurred.
The villager suddenly opened his eyes and, without warning, lunged at the soldier.
Startled, the soldier swung his weapon, thrusting forward decisively; the sword pierced the chest, and blood spurted instantly.
But before he could exhale, the villager before him suddenly let out a roar, his skull jutting forward, his body shuddering violently.
While the soldier was stunned, an ugly monster covered in long gray hair suddenly materialized.
"Werewolves! The villagers have started mutating, everyone be careful."
Accompanying this warning was violent commotion outside the houses.
Fierce fighting, ferocious roars, and the whinnies of startled horses filled every corner of the entire village in an instant.
Chaos, total chaos.
"Roar~!!"
Before the soldiers could recover from the sudden turn of events, the villagers opposite them who had already completed their transformation let out a ferocious roar and instantly lunged at the soldiers, biting and tearing.
Tremendous force instantly smashed through the wooden walls of the house, and the soldier, with almost no power to resist, was pinned to the ground by the werewolf.
A ferocious gaping maw, sharp fangs, strands of foul-smelling saliva dripping from the werewolf's mouth—in the soldier's terrified gaze, the reeking saliva instantly blurred his vision.
A violent scream had barely left his mouth when he was reduced to a headless corpse, spurting hot blood that instantly stained the ground red.
But before the werewolf that had bitten off the soldier's head could let out a triumphant roar, a sharp arrow had already pierced through its skull and emerged from its eye.
Looking in the direction from which the arrow had been fired, there was a knight astride a spirited warhorse, holding a crossbow, removing the helmet from atop her head.
As strands of sweat-dampened hair fell away, an aloof yet slightly soft face was revealed—this was unmistakably an exceedingly rare female knight.
As the female knight dismounted with a fluid motion, her legs encased in leg armor immediately revealed their striking length.
Looking at the werewolf's corpse that had collapsed with a crash, and the soldier's legs that still twitched reflexively even after losing his head.
A faint disgust flashed through the female knight's cat-like blue-green pupils, and from the sharp teeth visible between her slightly parted lips, it was already clear that the female knight was not human.
