Chapter 1034: The Space Marine Burning with Crimson Psionic Flames

~6 min read 1,080 words

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Power Armor slammed into the surface of the fleshy conduit one after another.

This conduit was over twenty meters in diameter, its surface covered in slick secretions and glowing veins transporting unknown energy.

"Form up quickly! Establish a defensive line!"

Kurgan stood his ground, sweeping his Power Spear horizontally and cutting two worker bugs that had crawled out from the folds of the conduit into two pieces.

"Check for casualties!"

The White Scars Space Marines closed in, forming a circular defensive perimeter. The roar of Chainswords and the hum of Power Weapon energy fields filled the air.

"Qiaolin's leg plating is torn, movement restricted!"

"Tala's shoulder guard is damaged, does not affect combat!"

"Flamer fuel at thirty percent remaining!"

"Bolter ammunition is on average less than two basic loads!"

Kurgan nodded and spoke.

"Ulton, lead the way! Following this conduit, can we reach the core?"

Ulton kept his eyes tightly shut, his psionic senses searching for the direction.

"Yes, Company Commander... this conduit... the flow of its pulsing energy points toward the opposite side of the cavity... there is a more powerful Psionic Source there... but..."

Ulton opened his eyes and looked toward the front of the conduit.

"Something is coming! Something very large! And... the psionic readings are rising sharply!"

The entire fleshy conduit began to writhe violently!

At the same time, dozens of holes split open on the flesh walls in front of and on both sides of the conduit, and more Zerg guards with Psionic Patterns flickering on their carapaces charged out.

In the darkness directly ahead of the conduit, a scorpion-bug slowly crawled out, its massive body filling the entire conduit, its eight thick jointed limbs digging deep into the fleshy ground to stabilize its mountain-like frame.

Its front half reared up, a pair of giant sickle-shaped forelimbs flashing with the cold light of mixed metal and psionic energy.

There were no mouthparts or eyes on its head, only a single constantly pulsing Psionic Organ!

Psionic Ripples visible to the naked eye circled around the organ.

"The Emperor..."

A White Scars Space Marine muttered.

Ulton shouted.

"Beware of its Psychic Shock! Everyone, hold your focus!"

Before the words had even faded, the green crystal on the head of that giant psionic beast flashed violently!

"Hum!"

A powerful Psionic Suppression Field appeared!

The Servo Systems of the White Scars Space Marines' Power Armor issued overload warnings.

"Urgh!"

An injured White Scars Space Marine could not withstand the pressure and dropped to one knee.

Invisible Psionic Shackles bound everyone!

"Move! The White Scars never yield!"

Company Commander Kurgan roared, veins bulging, and relying on his indomitable willpower and the performance of his Power Armor, he forced himself to take a step forward against the pressure field!

But Kurgan's movements in wielding his Power Spear were significantly slowed.

"For the Khan! For the Emperor!"

More Zerg swarmed forward, taking advantage of them being suppressed.

"Company Commander! If this continues, we will be worn down here!"

Ulton shouted.

Ulton was surrounded by a faint psionic radiance, offsetting part of the pressure, and he continuously released small-scale Psychic Shocks to knock back the approaching Zerg.

Just then!

That giant psionic scorpion-bug had accumulated enough psionic energy, and the green crystal on its head erupted with a burst of light, firing a condensed bolt of green Psionic Lightning at Ulton, who was struggling to maintain the situation!

"Ulton! Dodge!"

Kurgan shouted, wanting to help, but he was bound by the pressure field and unable to rescue him in time.

Ulton also felt the arrival of danger.

Devotion to the Task, worry for his brothers, and Faith in the Emperor—all these emotions mixed together and erupted within Ulton's heart!

"The Emperor!!!"

Ulton poured out all his will, all his psionic power, and all his life force without reservation!

"Boom!!!"

A Psychic Storm composed purely of will and mental power erupted from Ulton as the center, blasting outward in all directions!

Two powerful psionic forces collided violently and annihilated each other, triggering a small-scale Psychic Storm!

The fleshy conduit was torn apart, and the approaching Zerg guards were shredded and purified, both in their physical forms and their spiritual essences!

Even that giant psionic scorpion-bug was knocked backward by this psionic eruption filled with holy wrath, and a tiny crack appeared on the green crystal on its head!

The Psionic Suppression Field shrouding the White Scars warriors vanished for that moment!

"Ulton!"

Kurgan and the other warriors exclaimed.

However, at the very instant Ulton's psionic energy was exhausted, he "saw" a vision.

It was an endless expanse of golden light, warm, vast, and filled with indescribable majesty and power.

Deep within this radiance, there was a blurred figure whose gaze fell upon him.

There were no words, no specific instructions, only an incomparably clear intent branded directly into the depths of Ulton's soul.

"Advance."

Immediately following this, a strange thing occurred.

The inherent bio-fluorescence of the Insect Hive Mother Ship seemed to be suppressed by some more powerful force.

The psionic interference and pheromone within the chamber began to recede.

Then, between the Kurgan squad and that psionic behemoth which had just recovered from the psionic collision, space began to twist and ripple.

One figure after another stepped out from this twisted void, silent and soundless.

They were also wearing Power Armor, but the style did not belong to any Space Marine Legion known to Kurgan.

Their armor presented a dull steel-gray, but in the gaps of the armor, the joints, and the eye lenses of the helmets, scorching crimson Psionic Flame burned!

This flame burned without making a sound, yet it exuded an aura that was pure, sacred, and sufficient to make all filth and evil feel terror.

Fifty Space Marines stepped out and silently formed an assault formation.

There were no battle cries, no communication, only a suffocating, murderous aura.

The weapons in their hands also burned with the same Psionic Flame; Bolter, Chainsword, Power Sword... each piece was an extension of the Emperor's wrath.

"That... what is that?"

A White Scars Space Marine asked, losing his voice.

Kurgan was also completely stunned.

His Data Pad had no records regarding these existences, and there were no life signal readings on the auspex, as if they did not exist here at all.

But that powerful psionic pressure was real and tangible.

"I don't know... I've never seen them..."

Kurgan muttered, gripping his Power Spear tightly, watching these uninvited guests vigilantly.
