Chapter 1097: Passing Through the Shield

~6 min read 1,119 words

On the Angel, Sanguinius whispered to himself, carefully observing the energy flow patterns of the shield.

The shield strength readings for K-77 were alarmingly high.

"Although the shield strength has increased significantly, every defense has a weakness."

In Sanguinius's field of vision, the shield of K-77 was not a uniform shroud of light, but a complex energy network, with strengths and weaknesses, nodes and paths.

"Magnify the shield readings, display the energy flow dynamics."

On the holographic panel, the energy flow of the planetary shield was visualized.

Sanguinius discovered an interesting phenomenon.

The shield reacted strongly to large-scale energy attacks, automatically reinforcing the defense of the area under attack.

But when it came to small objects, the shield had almost no reaction, letting them pass through.

"Test it."

Sanguinius said to the Weapon Officer.

"Launch a small probe drone at the shield, no larger than a standard Shuttle, with minimized energy signatures."

"Understood, Father."

A small drone launched from the Angel, slowly flying toward the shield of K-77.

Under everyone's gaze, the drone passed through the golden shroud—which theoretically should have blocked everything—without any obstruction.

"The drone has entered the interior of the shield, the signal is normal, and it has not been attacked or interfered with."

A light flashed in Sanguinius's eyes.

"Test again. This time, launch a simulated Missile, medium-sized, but maintain a low energy signature."

A second projectile flew toward the shield.

Likewise, it passed through easily, and the shield had almost no reaction.

"I understand. This Huzhun Xitong is designed to defend against large-scale orbital bombardment. It monitors the energy intensity and scale of attacks, only reacting to targets that reach a threshold.

Small, low-energy objects can pass through freely because it is not worth consuming energy to Intercept them."

Sanguinius turned to the Tactical Officer.

"If we use Thunderhawk Gunships to carry troops, maintaining low energy output, can we pass through the shield?"

The Tactical Officer calculated quickly.

"Theoretically feasible, Father. But the risk is very high. Once discovered by the defensive systems inside the shield, the Thunderhawk Gunships will be struck by the opponent's anti-aircraft fire.

Furthermore, even if the landing is successful, the troops will not be able to receive orbital support."

Sanguinius spoke.

"But what if we attack the Shield Generator from the inside? If we can destroy the Energy Center, the entire Huzhun Xitong will collapse.

At that time, the fleet can proceed directly with orbital bombardment."

Sanguinius opened communication with Angron.

"Angron, I have discovered a weakness in the shield."

"Speak."

"The shield only Intercepts high-energy, large-scale attacks. Fighters similar to Thunderhawk Gunships can pass through. I plan to personally lead a company to break in and attack the Shield Generator from the inside."

There was a long Silence on the other end of the communication.

Then, Angron's voice came through.

"Too risky, Sanguinius. Even if you can pass through the shield, you will be trapped on the planetary surface, facing the entire planet's garrison.

Moreover, if the shield's designers foresaw this possibility, they might have deployed specialized anti-small-target defenses inside the shield."

"The risk certainly exists. But I believe it is worth a try. If we can dismantle the shield from the inside, the entire offensive plan will be greatly accelerated.

Besides, don't you think this is exactly what the Fengqi Commanders would not anticipate? They designed a shield to defend against fleet bombardment, but may have overlooked internal defense."

"How long do you need to prepare?"

"Thirty minutes. I will lead the Blood Angels of the First Company, riding in Thunderhawk Gunships with low energy signatures.

We will break in at the weakest area of the shield, with the Energy Center closest to our landing point as the target."

"I can launch a feint attack in the direction of K-78 to draw the attention of the Fengqi. If they think the main attack direction is K-78, they might pull some defensive forces from K-77."

"Good idea. Then, in thirty minutes, I will act. You launch the feint ten minutes after I break in."

"Agreed. Be careful, brother."

"You too."

The communication ended. Sanguinius immediately began preparations.

Thirty minutes later, in the hangar of the Angel.

One hundred Angel Warrior soldiers stood in neat formation, and Sanguinius stood before them, having already changed into his combat gear.

"Warriors, we will pass through the shield that the Alien deems impenetrable, land on their home world, and destroy their defenses from the inside."

Sanguinius paused, his gaze sweeping over every Blood Angels Space Marine.

"But we do not fight for a simple victory.

We fight for the future of the Star Alliance, for the survival space of the Human, and for those who cannot fight for themselves."

The warriors responded in unison: "For the Star Alliance! For the Human! For Lord Sanguinius!"

Sanguinius nodded.

"Then, board the ships. Remember our target: the Shield Generator Energy Center. Destroy it and open a path for the fleet.

Secondary objective: create chaos and distract the enemy. Tactical principles: fast, precise, lethal."

The Blood Angels Space Marines boarded ten Thunderhawk Gunships.

Sanguinius boarded the lead Thunderhawk Gunship and sat in the command seat next to the pilot.

"All units, check communications. Low-power encrypted channel, maintain radio silence until landing."

"Unit One, ready."

"Unit Two, ready."

"Unit Ten, ready."

"Depart."

The hangar doors opened, and the group of Thunderhawk Gunships slid into the void, flying toward the shield of K-77.

Sanguinius sat in the command seat of the lead Thunderhawk, his eyes slightly closed, focusing all his perception on the planetary shield that stretched across the space between the planet and the void ahead.

"Five hundred kilometers ahead, azimuth 7-4-2."

Sanguinius opened his eyes and spoke.

"The energy flow in that area is the slowest, and the node spacing is the largest. Enter from there."

"All units, attention: follow the lead ship and maintain formation."

The ten Thunderhawk Gunships adjusted their course into a tight wedge formation.

Behind them, the Blood Angels Fleet in orbit was increasing its firepower output.

On the Bridge of the Angel, Aoruisitesi stared intently at the tactical panel.

His Task was to provide cover for Sanguinius's assault.

"All units, attention: target area E-7, interval bombardment! Light Lance, prepare to fire a salvo at areas G-3 through G-9! I want the monitoring system of the entire shield to light up with alarms!"

The order was executed rapidly.

Dozens of Macro-cannon beams tore through the void, striking the designated areas of the planetary shield and stirring up ripples of gold.

Immediately following, thousands of Torpedoes surged out, exploding into sheets of flame on the surface of the shield.

The entire orbital shield monitoring system of K-77 was flooded with countless high-energy signals.
