Chapter 11: Cult
Just at this moment, a military transport plane flew in from afar and stopped at the landing pad in the distance.
Xun Zhe said to the students with a serious face: "The people from the Military District have arrived; let's go over now." After speaking, he led the five students toward the transport plane.
When they reached the transport plane, the cabin door slowly opened, and a soldier wearing camouflage uniform walked out from inside. He had a steady gait and a solemn expression; he walked up to Xun Zhe, saluted, and said: "Teacher Xun, the Military District personnel are ready, we can depart at any time."
Xun Zhe returned a standard military salute, then turned to the students behind him and said: "Alright, children, let us board this transport plane and head to the task location."
The five students walked onto the plane one by one and found their seats to sit down. Yingzhou sat by the window, his gaze looking out at the window, appreciating the scenery around him.
The sound of the plane's engines grew louder, and the plane slowly ascended. As the altitude increased, the scenery on the ground became smaller and smaller, eventually disappearing from view. Yingzhou quietly stared out the window, secretly thinking about how to obtain more system points.
The plane flew steadily in the air, and the sunlight spilled onto Yingzhou's face through the porthole, bringing a hint of warmth and brightness. He closed his eyes, enjoying this moment of tranquility and beauty.
After a period of flight, the plane began to descend slowly. It passed through the clouds and returned to low altitude, and the scene on the ground gradually became clear. Yingzhou opened his eyes and saw that quite a few soldiers wearing camouflage were already standing by down below.
"With such a big formation, I wonder what kind of task is to be executed?" Su Miao said from behind Yingzhou at this time.
"Who knows? We are just here to watch them execute the task in actual combat." A male student with freckles on his cheeks and a slightly chubby build spoke up.
Seeing the gazes of Su Miao and Yingzhou cast over, he began to introduce himself, "My name is Yun Shuangjin, B-Grade Back Spirit. We almost became classmates during the entrance test."
"Su Miao, A-Grade Back Spirit."
"Yingzhou."
Just as Yun Shuangjin wanted to speak again, as the transport plane landed steadily and the cabin door slowly opened, Xun Zhe stood up and said to the five people, "Prepare to disembark. The unit in front of us now is the Human Alliance's internal emergency unit—Thorn, specifically responsible for dealing with adverse factors within the Human Alliance."
Under Xun Zhe's leadership, the five students followed his footsteps and stepped out of the transport plane's cabin door. What greeted them was a well-equipped and strictly disciplined team; their eyes were firm, their postures straight, revealing a sense of power that could not be underestimated.
Xun Zhe led the students toward the unit's commander, a middle-aged officer with a burly build and eyes like torches. He wore a standard combat camouflage uniform, and stars representing his military rank shone on his epaulets.
"This is Colonel Li; he is the commander of this emergency unit." Xun Zhe introduced the person beside him to the students, then nodded to Colonel Li.
Colonel Li took a step forward, his gaze sweeping over everyone: "Welcome, students, to the first scene where we execute our task. I am Colonel Li, responsible for commanding all actions of Thorn."
His voice was steady and powerful, carrying a kind of reassuring majesty: "Our unit is mainly responsible for handling some special situations, including but not limited to terrorist attacks, cleaning up Human traitors, Psionic out of control, and other emergency events. These tasks are very dangerous, but they are also an important part of protecting the internal security of the Human Alliance."
Colonel Li paused, then continued: "This time we received intelligence that a cult organization was discovered in Xitai District. This organization is not small in scale, and about 600 people have already joined it. They propagate that the Zerg came to this world to save Humans, and that as long as one joins their church, one can join the glorious evolution after the Zerg occupy this world."
Hearing this, the students could not help but gasp. Such remarks were simply absurd to the extreme!
Colonel Li continued: "Our task is to completely eliminate this cult and capture all cult members. If you encounter resistance, you can execute them on the spot. You only need to follow behind our squad and observe their combat techniques and methods for dealing with various emergencies. I hope that through this actual combat observation, you will learn more things. Now there are ten minutes left until the action time; get yourselves ready."
After speaking, Colonel Li turned and returned to the front of the team.
The students began to discuss among themselves, full of anticipation for the upcoming actual combat.
After Colonel Li finished speaking, he walked to the side with Xun Zhe to talk.
Soon, Xun Zhe came to the side of the five people, "I will take you to the action squad this time; remember, you just need to follow behind them."
"Yes!"
Having received the response, Xun Zhe no longer rambled, and led everyone to a well-equipped squad. The squad Captain walked up and said, "My name is Ye Fan. My squad will be ready to depart in 1 minute to start clearing out this cult. You get ready, and don't fall behind after going in."
Xun Zhe watched as Ye Fan's squad took Yingzhou and the other four into Xitai District, until the squad disappeared from sight.
After Yingzhou followed the squad into Xitai District, he observed his surroundings with a serious expression.
At this moment, the street was unusually quiet, as if shrouded by an invisible force. The once bustling and lively street was now empty, and it was difficult to find even a single figure. The originally crowded masses had long since disappeared without a trace, leaving only dead silence and desolation.
Not only that, the doors and windows of all the buildings were tightly closed, as if resisting intrusion from the outside world.
The sun was setting, and the afterglow spilled onto the earth, reflecting a red radiance. This touch of red light added a somewhat mysterious and eerie atmosphere to the entire scene. The light was as bright and eye-catching as fresh blood, yet it revealed a hint of an ominous aura.
The squad that Yingzhou and the others followed had only ten people. They moved forward slowly on the empty street. Their steps were uniform, and they held their standard-issue weapons tightly in their hands, exuding a serious and firm momentum. Everyone wore lightweight armor, which could provide a certain amount of protection without affecting the flexibility of their movements. The daggers tucked at their waists became the final means of self-defense, just in case.
However, due to the obstruction of the helmet visors, Yingzhou could not see their expressions at this moment. Their faces were hidden in the darkness, making one wonder what they were thinking in their hearts.
"How can your ten-person squad confront a 600-person cult?" Yingzhou walked on the silent street and suddenly asked.
"We have 3 squads that have already entered Xitai District from other places, totaling 50 people. The route our team is taking is still relatively safe." Ye Fan looked back at this student who was about the same height as himself but had muscles significantly more obvious than his own, and answered.
