Chapter 1122: They Are Betraying Fengqi
The negotiations at the Ningjing Huilang Kongjian Zhan have entered their third day.
On both sides of the round table, data pads are stacked like mountains, and the holographic projections are filled with dense clauses, annotations, and revision suggestions all tangled together.
Kalaier rubs his brow.
His Third Eye is throbbing faintly, a sign of overusing his psychic powers.
In the past seventy-two hours, he has spent almost every minute analyzing the meaning behind every word, every micro-expression, and every pause from Guilliman.
Guilliman shows no signs of fatigue and speaks in a steady tone.
"Then, regarding Article 6, Section 3, the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance insists that the regulatory authority over Fengqi military enterprises must include real-time monitoring of production processes.
This is a necessary measure to prevent the illegal outflow of weapons."
Liana records quickly on her data pad while looking up to respond.
"Real-time monitoring involves trade secrets and patent protection. The Feng Qi Xing Alliance has seventeen top-tier military enterprises, and their technological advantage is maintained precisely by the patent system.
If we open up real-time monitoring, it is equivalent to handing over the technological achievements accumulated by the Feng Qi Xing Alliance."
Guilliman's answer is simple.
"The Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance has no interest in Fengqi's technology; we only care about security. If these enterprises are not producing in violation of regulations, there is nothing that needs to be hidden."
Tal clenches his fists, and Kalaier stops him with a look.
"Archon Guilliman, let us think from another perspective. Suppose, just suppose, the Feng Qi Xing Alliance accepts this clause.
Then who provides the hardware for the monitoring system? What are the encryption standards for data transmission? Are the monitoring personnel employees of the Star Alliance or a third party? If the monitoring system itself is attacked, leading to the leakage of sensitive data, how is responsibility divided?"
The corners of Guilliman's mouth lift imperceptibly.
Kalaier catches this moment; it seems even a Primarch can get impatient.
"Technical details can be discussed by the working group later; what needs to be determined now is the principle."
Kalaier says guardedly.
"Principles need details to be implemented; a principle without clear details is just empty talk.
If the Star Alliance truly values these negotiations, it should be willing to discuss these 'technical details' in depth."
The round table falls into a brief Silence.
Donatus clears his throat, breaking the stalemate.
"Perhaps we can temporarily set aside Article 6 and discuss Article 7 first. Regarding the specific form of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance's participation in the governance system of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance..."
Kalaier feels a sense of relief in his heart.
Another successful delay.
At this rate, just "preliminarily discussing" all twenty-seven clauses will take at least two weeks.
Bridge of the Dark Tooth, flagship of the escort fleet.
Colonel Sele'en's three eyes are all open, staring at the structural diagram of the space station displayed on the tactical holographic table.
Executive Officer Major Kaierte stands by his side, his Third Eye flickering slightly.
"Captain, the latest intelligence shows that the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance's fleet around the space station has increased to forty-two ships."
Sele'en does not look away.
"Expected. Guilliman will not entrust his safety to the goodwill of others.
But he also won't take hostile action early in the negotiations; that would ruin his image as a 'rational Diplomat'."
"But if our actions are discovered in advance..."
"Then we fight."
Sele'en turns around, the corners of his mouth lifting.
"Admiral Olaf's Oathkeeper fleet is already in position. 270 warships, all veterans who have experienced the border wars. If the Star Alliance fleet opens fire, we will make them pay the price.
Kalaier and his team have already decided to betray Fengqi. Look at these negotiation records; they are discussing how to 'gradually' accept the Star Alliance's rule, how to 'orderly' disband our military, and how to 'civilly' give up our sovereignty!"
Sele'en pulls up a summary of communications secretly intercepted from the Amethyst Insight.
Although incomplete, it is enough to show that the Carlyle Mission's negotiation strategy is indeed centered on compromise.
"Kaierte, my grandfather died in the K-12 Zhanyi, my father died on the southern border, and of my two older brothers, one died on the Canaan front, and the other was shot in the back by a traitor while suppressing an internal rebellion."
Sele'en's voice drops.
"Our family has shed enough blood for Fengqi. I will not watch those politicians give away everything we defended with our lives for nothing at the negotiating table."
The door to the Bridge slides open, and Captain Weikesi of the assault team walks in.
"Weikesi," Sele'en nods, "how is the preparation?"
"Fifty assault team members are in position,"
Weikesi's voice is hoarse.
"All are veterans from the border wars, volunteering to participate. We have studied the structural diagram of the space station and simulated the raid seventeen times, with a success rate between 78% and 83%."
"And the other 17% to 22%?"
"If the Star Alliance Guard's reaction speed exceeds expectations, or if there are defense systems inside the space station that we don't know about."
Weikesi says frankly.
"But we have prepared Plan B and Plan C. If we cannot take full control, we will focus on occupying key areas: the Bridge, the engine room, and the life support systems. If necessary, we can threaten mutual destruction."
Sele'en nods.
Weikesi is his best tactical expert, having participated in thirty-seven special operations with only two recorded failures.
"Remember, the primary goal is to control the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance delegation, not our own people."
Sele'en emphasizes.
"The Carlyle Mission is just a backup bargaining chip. Guilliman is the key; as a Primarch, he is not on the front lines, so his strength certainly isn't that great. Capture him, and the Star Alliance won't dare to act rashly."
Weikesi nods in response.
"Understood. We have analyzed Guilliman's behavioral patterns. He spends thirty minutes alone on the space station's observation deck every day to 'meditate.' That is the best opportunity."
"What about the guards?"
"Usually there are only two guards. But if he senses a threat..."
"Then launch an assault."
Sele'en said decisively.
"Use every means necessary. Concussion hand grenades, nerve gas, EMP devices... General Olaf has provided quite a bit of countermeasure equipment."
Kaierte shifted uneasily.
"That equipment is strictly controlled military secret, how did General Olaf..."
Sele'en interrupted Kaierte.
"There are more than just us in the military who are dissatisfied with the status quo; many front-line Commanders, military industry experts, Intelligence Officers... they all realize the Council is leading us toward destruction. 'Oathkeeper' is not just a fleet, Kaierte. It is a network, a resistance movement."
