Chapter 1127: Sacrificing the Delegation
Kalaier sat before the negotiation table, hands clasped, Third Eye tightly shut.
His mind raced at high speed.
Sele'en's coup, Guilliman's ambush, Olaf's "Oathkeeper" fleet... all the clues connected.
This was the result of a multi-party game.
And he, as the head of the delegation appointed by the Supreme Council of Fengqi, had become the most powerless piece on the chessboard.
The door to the negotiation hall was suddenly blown open.
Two Ultramarines rushed in, Bolters pointed at the Fengqi Assault Team members.
"Drop your weapons! Surrender!"
Five assault team members immediately opened fire, but their Energy Rifles could not penetrate the Power Armor even at close range.
The Ultramarines returned fire, killing four in seconds, while the last one was wounded and fell to the ground.
Kalaier stood up.
"Stop! We are a diplomatic delegation!"
An Ultramarine turned toward Kalaier, the lenses of his helmet flashing red.
"Councilor Kalaier, please follow us to evacuate. The space station is no longer safe."
"Where is Archon Guilliman?"
"Dealing with the disturbance."
The Ultramarine answered briefly.
"Please immediately..."
Before the words were finished, the wall of the negotiation hall suddenly exploded.
Amidst the dust, a tall figure walked in; a Fengqi soldier wearing specialized heavy Power Armor, holding a twin-linked Energy Cannon.
Behind him, ten Fengqi heavy soldiers with the same equipment flooded into the room.
The two Ultramarines immediately opened fire, the bolts striking the Nengli Hushan outside the heavy Power Armor.
The Fengqi heavy soldiers returned fire, a volley from the Energy Cannons sending the two Ultramarines flying into the wall.
"Councilor Kalaier, I am under orders from General Olaf to protect the safety of the delegation. Please come with us."
"Stop! Everyone stop!"
Kalaier shouted, but no one paid him any heed.
The Fengqi heavy soldiers stepped forward, roughly grabbing the members of the delegation.
"Move! The main force of the Star Alliance will be here soon!"
"Where to?"
Weilan struggled to ask.
"A safe place."
The lead soldier replied, but Kalaier understood the other party's intention.
They were not here to protect; they were here to hijack.
The delegation had become Olaf's hostage bargaining chip.
Just then, amidst the chaos, another voice rang out.
"Regrettably, you are going nowhere."
Roboute Guilliman walked into the negotiation hall.
Guilliman's deep blue Power Armor was stained with scorch marks and the purple blood of an Alien, the Power Sword in his hand still humming.
Behind him, five Ultramarines lined up, Bolters already loaded.
The air froze.
The Fengqi heavy soldiers immediately raised their guns, but Guilliman was faster.
The five Ultramarines behind Guilliman fired simultaneously, their Bolters precisely hitting the heads of the five Fengqi soldiers in a burst of fire.
Even the Energy Shield could not withstand the full firepower of the Bolters; the Energy Shield overloaded, and their skulls exploded.
The remaining five soldiers returned fire, Energy Beams sparking against the Ultramarines' Power Armor, but they could not cause fatal damage.
Guilliman had already charged in front of them.
The Primarch's speed exceeded visual perception.
The Power Sword traced a blue arc, and two Fengqi soldiers were cut in half at the waist.
Turning, an elbow strike; the third soldier's chest plate caved in, and internal organs sprayed from his mouth.
The fourth soldier attempted melee combat, but Guilliman grabbed his weapon and smashed him, along with the gun, into the wall.
The fifth, and final, soldier was lifted by the Primarch with one hand, then thrown like trash, hitting the ceiling; he was lifeless by the time he fell.
4 seconds.
Ten Fengqi heavy soldiers, all dead within 4 seconds.
Guilliman shook the purple blood off his sword and turned toward Kalaier.
There was no anger on his face, not even emotion.
"Councilor Kalaier, now you see."
Guilliman's voice echoed in the negotiation hall.
"This is the path your compatriots have chosen. Not diplomacy, not compromise, but betrayal and violence."
Kalaier could not refute this.
He could only stand where he was, looking at the corpses of the Fengqi soldiers on the ground, watching the light gradually fade from their shattered Third Eyes.
"I... I didn't know... Colonel Sele'en's actions, I was completely unaware..."
"Ignorance, or tacit approval?"
Guilliman stepped closer, his massive frame casting a shadow.
"For three days, you have been stalling the negotiations to buy time for this operation. Now, when violence has occurred, you wish to claim innocence?"
General Tal stood in front of Kalaier.
"Archon Guilliman, I swear on my military honor that the delegation was truly unaware! This was a rogue action by Sele'en and Olaf!"
Guilliman looked at Tal, those blue eyes seemingly able to see through to the soul.
"Military honor," the Primarch repeated the word, "where was your honor when your subordinates launched a rebellion? Where was your honor when your compatriots prepared to kidnap the Diplomat?"
Tal's face turned pale, unable to answer.
Guilliman turned and walked toward the entrance of the negotiation hall.
"The members of the delegation will be detained until the truth is uncovered.
If the Feng Qi Xing Alliance wishes to continue negotiations, they must first hand over the rebels and compensate for all losses caused by this attack."
Kalaier shouted urgently.
"Wait! If you detain us, the negotiations will be completely broken! Does the Star Alliance want war?"
Guilliman stopped, without turning back.
"Councilor Kalaier, war has never ceased. Negotiations are merely another form of war. And now, you have chosen to return to the primitive form. Then, as you wish."
The Primarch left the negotiation hall, and the Ultramarines escorted the delegation members to follow.
Kalaier took one last look at the corpses covering the floor, his heart filled with despair.
It was over; the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance had seized the opportunity! They were now at a disadvantage.
Attacking a diplomatic mission and sabotaging negotiations.
This was the most taboo act in interstellar civilization exchange!
Outside the space station, on the bridge of the "Dark Tooth".
Sele'en received the news that the delegation had been taken into custody.
The holographic projection showed Admiral Olaf's face twisted with rage.
"You said you could control the situation! Now the delegation has fallen into the hands of the Star Alliance, and we have lost our most important bargaining chip!"
Sele'en gritted his teeth and replied.
"The Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance was prepared; their reaction speed and combat capability exceeded expectations."
Olaf roared.
"That is not important! What matters is what we do now? 270 warships have been exposed, and the Star Alliance fleet is surrounding us.
If we retreat, it is a total failure. If we attack, the delegation will be the first to die!"
Sele'en looked at the tactical map.
The green light dots representing the "Oathkeeper" fleet were being flanked from three directions by the blue light dots of the Star Alliance fleet.
In terms of quantity, the Feng Qi Xing Alliance held the advantage; in terms of quality, the fleet commanded by the Primarch was superior.
Sele'en said slowly.
"There is only one choice: a full-scale attack."
"Are you insane? The delegation is still in their hands!"
Sele'en's voice turned cold.
"The delegation has already failed. Kalaier and his team chose compromise; even if we rescue them, they will continue to push for a policy of surrender. The true Fengqi does not need such a diplomatic mission."
Olaf was silent for a long time, then he whispered.
"Are you saying... sacrifice the delegation?"
