Chapter 1175: Changes to the Fengqi Military Officer
Yingzhou turned to Y-7. The assassin's expression did not change at all, as if the conversation just now had nothing to do with her.
"You will see a Fengqi Military officer. I need you to observe everything about him: appearance, mannerisms, accent, habitual movements, and the minute characteristics in his speech. Then, you become him."
Y-7 nodded slightly.
"Physical contact can obtain more complete information."
"That is fine, Kailuosi Jin will be present."
"Enough."
Ten minutes later, the door between the shadows slid open silently.
Kailuosi Jin walked in, holding a Guardian Spear in his right hand, while his left hand dragged a... struggling humanoid with ease.
It was the Fengqi Military officer.
His military uniform was torn, and of his three eyes, two were swollen almost shut, while the remaining one was filled with bloodshot veins and terror.
His mouth was sealed by some kind of Energy Restrainer, allowing only muffled sounds to escape. His hands and feet were locked by Psionic Shackles, yet he still struggled in vain.
"Alan Saladin Weike, Commander of the Third Destroyer Detachment of the Fengqi Military, rank of Major. A fourth-generation collateral member of the Saladin Family.
To prevent suicide, we installed a restrainer."
Yingzhou frowned.
"Can he speak?"
"He can through an auxiliary device, but his accent will be affected."
Kailuosi Jin placed the captive on the floor in the center of the room, the tip of the Spear resting lightly against the captive's nape.
Y-7 stepped forward.
She walked slowly around the captive, eyeing him up and down.
"Stand up."
Y-7 said.
Kailuosi Jin gestured with the Spear, and the captive stood up reluctantly, his legs trembling with fear.
"Turn around."
The captive obeyed.
Y-7 walked in front of him, the distance between the two so close they could almost hear each other's breathing.
She extended her right hand, moving it a few centimeters around the captive.
"Height 182.3 centimeters, weight approximately 85 kilograms, right shoulder 0.7 centimeters lower than the left, caused by long-term carrying of weapons on the right shoulder. Old injury on the left leg, slight drag when walking, but he is deliberately concealing it."
She continued to observe.
"The scar above the right eye is an old wound, there is a ring mark on the left ring finger, but the ring is gone; it may have been removed or lost before capture."
Y-7 stepped back.
"I need to hear him speak. Deactivate the restrainer for three seconds."
Kailuosi Jin looked at Yingzhou.
The latter nodded.
The tip of Kailuosi Jin's Spear tapped lightly, and the energy field at the captive's mouth dissipated.
"You damn Human bastards..."
The captive roared immediately, his voice slurred due to an injured tongue.
But after only three seconds, the restrainer reactivated.
Y-7 closed her eyes.
When she opened her eyes again, her vocal cords began to emit strange sounds, at first static, then gradually becoming clear, and finally turning into a voice identical to the captive's, including the slight slurring caused by the injured tongue.
"You damn Human bastards."
Exactly the same.
Not just the voice, but even the anger, fear, and despair in the tone were perfectly replicated.
Y-7's body began to change.
It was a process so eerie it was unsettling.
Her bones made a slight clicking sound, her height slowly increased to about 182 centimeters, her shoulder width changed, and her leg length adjusted.
Three eyes emerged on her face; their position, spacing, and even the subtle color differences in the irises were exactly the same as the captive's.
Finally, the details: the scar above the right eye, the ring mark on the left ring finger, the slight slump of the right shoulder, and the almost imperceptible limping habit of the left leg.
When Y-7 opened her eyes again, standing there was already "Alan Saladin Weike".
Not just the appearance, but even that angry yet fearful expression, the corner of the mouth twitching slightly from pain, the trembling legs—everything was flawless.
Even the captive himself widened his three eyes, emitting a terrified, muffled sound.
Y-7 turned to Yingzhou and said in Alan's voice.
"What else is needed, Your Majesty?"
Yingzhou took a deep breath, suppressing the trace of unease in his heart.
"What about memories? Can you read his memories?"
"It requires physical contact and more time. I can read surface memories before the target's brain dies. But that will kill the specimen."
"If Your Majesty permits, I can proceed now. Afterward, I will possess his main memory fragments from the last six months, including interpersonal relationships, military knowledge, and personal habits."
Yingzhou pondered, his gaze moving between the "Alan" disguised by Y-7 and the real Alan Saladin Weike.
The captive was still struggling, the fear in his three eyes bordering on madness.
He could understand the conversation just now and understood that he was standing on the edge of death—not dying gloriously on the battlefield, but being treated as an experimental specimen in this cold room to have his memories extracted, then discarded like trash.
Kailuosi Jin's voice broke the silence.
"My Lord, this captive possesses the communication codes and partial defensive deployment intelligence of the Fengqi Seventh Sub-fleet. Although we have already obtained some through conventional interrogation, memory extraction may yield deeper information."
Yingzhou turned around and said in a calm voice.
"Y-7, how long does memory extraction take? What is the success rate? What happens to the specimen after extraction?"
"Standard procedure is fifteen minutes. The success rate depends on the specimen's brain state and will to resist; currently, it is estimated at over 92%."
Y-7 answered using Alan's voice, but the tone was completely professional and cold.
"The extraction process will cause irreversible damage to the brain. Upon completion, the specimen will enter a vegetative state; life support systems can maintain basic physiological activities, but the brain will be dead. Usually, we choose to terminate life, as maintenance is meaningless."
"Approved. Proceed with memory extraction. Once finished, the specimen is to be handled by Kailuosi Jin."
"Understood."
Y-7 nodded.
She walked toward the captive and took a metal syringe from a hidden pocket in her combat suit.
The needle was thin and long, shimmering with a faint blue luster.
The captive shook his head frantically, emitting desperate whimpering sounds.
Y-7 knelt on one knee before the captive, fixed his head with her left hand, and precisely plunged the syringe into the carotid artery with her right hand.
The movement was fluid and professional, without a single wasted motion.
The captive's body began to convulse violently, his three eyes rolled back, and white foam flowed from the corners of his mouth.
The restraints were removed, but he could no longer speak, only emitting gurgling sounds.
"Extraction starting."
Y-7 pressed her palm against the captive's forehead.
Her eyes turned completely milky white, the room fell silent, leaving only the captive's occasional twitching and the low hum of instruments.
Yingzhou watched all of this, his face devoid of any expression.
Finally, Y-7's hand moved away from the captive's forehead.
Her eyes returned to normal, but something seemed to have been added to the depths of her pupils.
"Extraction complete. I have obtained the target's primary memories from the last eight months, including: the fleet's complete organization and tactical manuals; the internal power structure of the Saladin Family; the private secrets of three high-ranking officers; and... a fragment of an encrypted meeting record from the Fengqi High Command regarding the 'Talos Project'."
"Talos Project?"
Yingzhou immediately caught this keyword.
"The memory is very blurry; the target only happened to hear superiors discussing it. Keywords: Pure Eye, Ancient Ruins, Mirror Rift."
The captive lay on the ground, still breathing, but his eyes were hollow and vacant, and saliva flowed uncontrollably from the corners of his mouth.
It was indeed as Y-7 had said; he was brain-dead.
Kailuosi Jin looked toward Yingzhou, and Yingzhou spoke.
"Dispose of him. Leave no traces."
