Chapter 1196: Vowing to Complete His Sister's Dying Wish

~5 min read 999 words

The night before the council testimony, the temporary residence of the Saladin Family.

Nine o'clock in the evening, Alan's study.

Yingzhou sat on the sofa, holding a traffic network map in his hand.

His finger drew a circle over a certain area; it was the only route back to the residence from the council building, a stretch of aerial airway passing through the old city district.

"Here. The airway is narrow, flanked by abandoned industrial buildings, with surveillance coverage of only sixty-two percent, and three legal blind spots in monitoring. The rush hour has passed, and traffic is sparse. A perfect location for an accident."

Alan stood opposite Yingzhou and began to ask.

"Your Majesty, what about the time?"

Yingzhou put down the traffic map.

"The attack occurs at ten forty-five, on your way back from General Geke's banquet. Geke invited you and Lina to dinner; this is the known itinerary."

Alan turned around, his face devoid of any expression.

"The identity of the attackers?"

"Disguised as assassins hired by opposition councilors."

Yingzhou said.

"Specifically pointing to Councilor Marcus, a political rival of Councilor Torres. He has recently clashed fiercely with Torres at the Resource Allocation Committee and has the motive to prevent you from testifying, as your testimony could affect the resource quota for the Pure Eye project, indirectly harming Marcus's interests."

"And the evidence?"

"Clues will be left on the bodies of the attackers, which will be prepared in advance."

Yingzhou took a micro data chip from his bosom.

"This chip will be implanted under the skin of one of the attackers.

Inside are encrypted transaction records showing a secret account of Councilor Marcus transferring funds to an anonymous mercenary organization.

The records are half-true and half-false; the account is real, the transfer is forged, but it is enough to initiate an investigation."

Alan took the chip and began to ask.

"The scale of the attack?"

"Three armed hovercars, eight attackers. A standard small mercenary configuration."

Yingzhou stood up, walked to the holographic projector in the center of the study, and started the device.

"They will strike your vehicles from three directions. The first wave of attacks will destroy the vehicle engines and defense systems, and the second wave will attempt to capture or kill the personnel inside. You and Lina 'narrowly' escape, but Lina is 'unfortunate' enough to be shot during the flight."

The holographic projection displayed a simulated combat scenario: the blue light dots representing their vehicles were surrounded by red light dots, intense crossfire ensued, the blue light dots broke through, but one of the smaller dots went out.

"The specific execution plan?"

Alan asked.

Yingzhou pulled up the detailed plan.

"Your vehicles have medium armor and can withstand light Energy Weapon fire. The attackers will use Armor-Piercing Shells and Electromagnetic Pulse Weapons; the former creates a real threat, while the latter disrupts the vehicle systems and communications, creating conditions for the subsequent 'chaos'."

"After the first round of crossfire begins, you protect Lina and exit the vehicle, retreating using the complex terrain of the block. During this process, you need to ensure Lina is in a specific position, the window on the third floor of the second abandoned building; that is the preset sniper point."

"A sniper?"

"A Kalidusi assassin, codenamed D-12, is already in position. He will use a specially made low-noise sniper Rifle; the bullets are standard models of the Fengqi Military, but the trajectory has been fine-tuned to match the weapons equipped by Councilor Marcus's guard."

"My task?"

"Guide Lina to the designated position, ensuring she is within the sniper's field of fire. At the moment the sniper fires, you need to make a 'protective' move but perform it 'unsuccessfully'. The bullet will hit Lina in the chest, avoiding immediately fatal areas but causing irreparable damage. She will survive for a few minutes, enough to say some final words, and then die."

Alan carefully examined every detail in the holographic projection: building structure, retreat route, sniper angle, bullet trajectory.

"D-12's extraction?"

"Extract immediately after firing, leaving no traces. Three bodies of attackers will be left at the scene—in reality, bodies prepared by our people in advance—and their 'manner of death' will show a connection to Councilor Marcus. The remaining attackers will 'flee', leaving live clues for the subsequent investigation."

"The injuries to me and Kelan?"

"You will sustain minor injuries, with your arm grazed by a stray bullet, but it will not affect your actions. Kelan will be more heavily injured while 'protecting' you, but it will not be fatal. This is more realistic: a loyal Adjutant wounded while protecting his superior."

Alan turned off the holographic projection and asked Yingzhou.

"Your Majesty, what is Lina doing now?"

"Preparing tomorrow's materials in her room."

Yingzhou said.

"She has organized the background information of all the councilors, anticipated every question the committee might raise, and prepared corresponding response strategies. She has even prepared three different styles of speeches for you, to be chosen based on the atmosphere at the scene."

"She is very professional."

"And she trusts you very much."

Yingzhou looked at Alan.

"She has never doubted you. Even if she had doubts, she chose to believe. This is favorable for our plan."

"Then, let's confirm the timeline one last time."

Yingzhou said.

"The banquet starts at seven and is expected to end at nine. The return trip takes forty minutes, and the attack occurs at ten forty-five. The battle lasts six to eight minutes, and Lina is shot.

After we 'break through', we call for rescue; the rescue team arrives within ten minutes, but Lina has already died from excessive blood loss. There is enough time.

Major Alan Saladin Weike, having lost his sister in the attack, grieving but strong, vows to complete his sister's dying wish and thoroughly expose the corruption and security loopholes. A perfect heroic narrative."

Yingzhou finished speaking and looked at Alan.

"Now, go see if she has discovered any other clues."

"Yes, Your Majesty!"
