Chapter 1219: Two Faces

~8 min read 1,424 words

Angron walked up to Jaghatai and looked down at him.

"But you truly surprised me, Jaghatai. So I will give you a quick death. As a sign of respect for a warrior."

The Claw descended.

Jaghatai's figure vanished.

His speed was so fast that Angron's Claw only struck an afterimage.

The next second, Jaghatai was already standing behind Angron, his hands gripping his head.

"You are right," Jaghatai said, "I have no weapons left. But I still have this."

Jaghatai's fingers hooked into Angron's head.

His ten fingers inserted into the gaps between the nails and the skull; fresh blood surged from between his fingers, staining his hands red.

Angron's body trembled violently.

"You... you dare..."

His voice was hoarse, madness and clarity flickering alternately in his eyes.

"That is... that is mine... you cannot..."

Jaghatai did not respond.

The muscles in his arms bulged, and veins stood out beneath his skin.

He was going to twist off Angron's head.

Jaghatai knew he could not kill this monster empowered by Chaos.

But he could snap his cervical spine; he could buy time for his father.

"Ah!"

Angron let out an inhuman roar.

His body began to emit a dark red glow.

That was the power of Chaos boiling, resisting, and attempting to break free.

"I... will not... let you..."

Angron's Claw swung back and grabbed Jaghatai, stabbing into his flank, piercing his Power Armor, and running through his flesh.

"Die... die together..."

Fresh blood surged from Jaghatai's mouth.

But he did not let go.

His fingers hooked in deeper.

"Khan!"

A White Scars Space Marine roared, wanting to rush over, but was held back tightly by three World Eaters Chaos Space Marines.

In the spherical room, the battle continued.

White Scars and World Eaters were locked in a death struggle; from time to time, someone fell, and blood splattered.

More than twenty corpses already lay on the ground, spreading along the gaps in the floor tiles.

Veriks curled up in the corner, his three eyes widened to the limit, watching this slaughter that exceeded his understanding.

Jaghatai's vision began to blur.

Angron's Claw was still churning inside his body.

But he did not let go.

Because right there in his blurred vision, he saw a golden light condensing above.

That was the light of his father.

His father had come.

"Angron."

Jaghatai used his final ounce of strength.

"Father... has come."

"Father... let him come!"

He roared wildly.

"Let him see what I look like now! Let him see what his son has become!"

He turned abruptly, carrying Jaghatai with him, and slammed into the wall of the spherical room.

The wall caved in, and a Rift spread.

Jaghatai's body slid down, a large mouthful of blood pouring from his mouth.

At that moment, the entire spherical room was filled with golden light.

That light made the World Eaters roar, their Chaos Armor smoking in the radiance.

The White Scars knelt on one knee, even though they could not look directly at the light.

Only Jaghatai and Angron still kept their eyes open.

Jaghatai saw the ceiling of the spherical room pierced by a golden pillar of light.

That pillar of light was over ten meters in diameter, tearing directly through the seven floors of the building above, reaching from the surface down to this room five hundred meters underground.

Within the pillar of light, figures were descending.

The first figure, golden.

That was the Emperor's Adeptus Custodes.

A total of ten Adeptus Custodes stood in an arc, guarding the position where Yingzhou was about to appear in the center.

Then, more figures began to emerge.

The Grey Knights surged out from the pillar of light, each wearing Holy Shield Power Armor engraved with Runes, holding a Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd.

Ten.

Twenty.

Thirty.

Forty.

Fifty Grey Knights formed three combat phalanxes in the spherical room, dividing the entire space into countless lethal fire sectors.

Those World Eaters Chaos Space Marines finally reacted from their shock.

They raised their weapons, attempting to resist, but the Grey Knights were faster.

"Purge the Heretic."

The fifty Grey Knights raised their Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberds, Psionic Lightning shooting from the Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberds.

Fifty blue-white rays of light streaked through the spherical room, each one accurately hitting a World Eater.

The Psionic Lightning pierced through the World Eaters' Chaos Armor, tearing their bodies apart and completely severing their connection to Chaos.

By the time their corpses hit the ground, they had already begun to turn into Ashes.

World Eaters Chaos Space Marines, completely annihilated.

Time taken: three seconds.

The Grey Knights put away their weapons and stood in formation, waiting for orders.

Then, the final figure descended from the pillar of light.

Yingzhou landed in the center of the spherical room, his gaze sweeping across the entire space immediately.

He saw the corpses covering the ground—those of the White Scars, the World Eaters, and the Fengqi Alien.

Then, he saw that Rift.

His pupils constricted slightly.

That was the first time he had seen a mirror Rift with his own eyes.

All previous intelligence, all descriptions, and all reports could not compare to the scene before him.

That Rift was not a simple spatial crack, but a wound in reality itself. Blue-purple light surged from the Rift, and every pulse made the entire room tremble.

Yingzhou shifted his gaze to look at Angron.

"Jaghatai. Let him go."

Jaghatai's hand did not loosen.

"Father."

Angron roared.

"In that world, you... you sit on the Golden Throne, not speaking, not acting for ten thousand years. You watch us slaughter each other, watch the Imperium fall apart, watch Chaos Devour everything. You are not the Emperor; you are just a living corpse."

Yingzhou's expression did not change at all.

"But you here... you are different. You came in person. You are fighting. You care about your progeny. Perhaps... perhaps in that world, if you could have been like this..."

Yingzhou did not say anything more and said to Jaghatai.

"Jaghatai. Step back."

Jaghatai loosened his grip and slowly retreated.

Yingzhou used Psychic Suppression to force Angron to his knees on the ground.

He raised his hand.

Golden psionic energy condensed in his palm, forming a ball of light the size of a fist.

Yingzhou, who had intended to kill this Angron, suddenly felt an inexplicable panic and ultimately chose to strike Angron back to his original world.

Yingzhou raised his hand, and the ball of light flew out, striking Angron in the chest and knocking Angron back into the mirror Rift.

The moment Angron was knocked back, the Rift trembled violently.

The blue-purple light surged, and that crack began to expand at a terrifying speed.

"Father!"

Jaghatai shouted.

"It's expanding!"

Yingzhou looked at that Rift.

He could feel that the entity on the other side of the Rift was frantically trying to expand the gateway.

He could not let it succeed.

Yingzhou took a step forward.

"Everyone, retreat to a safe distance. I am going to close it."

Jaghatai wanted to say "it's too dangerous," but he saw Yingzhou's eyes, saw the golden light burning within those eyes.

He waved his hand, leading the surviving White Scars Space Marines and Grey Knights to the edge of the room.

Yingzhou stood alone before the Rift.

He closed his eyes.

Psionic energy surged from within him, like a tide, like a tsunami, like the galaxy inverted.

The golden light collided with the blue-purple light of the Rift in the center of the room.

Every collision made space tremble, made time twist, and made all the observers feel a deep sense of vertigo.

Yingzhou's brows furrowed slightly.

He felt resistance.

The entity on the other side of the Rift, that nameless thing, was resisting.

It wanted to come over, it wanted to Devour this world.

"You think you can stop me?"

A voice rang out in Yingzhou's mind.

Yingzhou did not respond.

He continued to output spiritual energy, continuing to reinforce that Rift which was closing.

The golden light grew stronger and stronger, the blue-purple light grew weaker and weaker.

The edges of the Rift began to heal, those tiny cracks disappeared one by one, and that massive Rift shrank inch by inch.

"No!"

That voice roared.

"You cannot! You don't know what you are facing!"

Yingzhou opened his eyes.

"It doesn't matter. I don't care."

He pressed his palms together.

The golden light erupted violently.

The Rift contracted intensely.

Just at this moment, two faces suddenly emerged from within the Rift.
