Chapter 125: First Clean Up That Harassment Unit
Inside Maike's tent in the Fourth Defense Zone Outer City.
Maike looked at Mailun, who was approaching his tent with a gloomy face, and asked with surprise.
"What's wrong? Has the Inner City not been taken yet? Tell me, how many men do you need this time?"
Mailun found a place to sit down, let out a heavy breath, and spoke.
"Those damn Two-legged Sheep burned down the Base Camp. I clearly arranged a unit to patrol the camp, yet it still got torched! These Two-legged Sheep are strange; their heavy artillery units shifted positions very quickly before, as if running away was simple for them."
Maike's brows gradually furrowed as he listened to Mailun's grumbling.
"You mean to say that not only did you fail to take the Inner City, but you also let those Two-legged Sheep burn down the Base Camp? What about the equipment? The equipment I reinforced you with!"
Maike's voice grew low, his eyes staring fixedly at Mailun.
After feeling Maike's gaze, Mailun coughed twice.
"Ahem, there was really no helping it. I had already opened a breach in the Two-legged Sheep's Inner City gate, but then those Two-legged Sheep found a few more City Defense Cannons from somewhere and destroyed our Rune Cannons here."
"Then what are we supposed to do! We already promised the High Priest that we would take the Two-legged Sheep's Inner City within these few days. Now you tell me the Two-legged Sheep burned down the Base Camp for your attack on the Inner City. How are we supposed to explain this to the High Priest?"
Maike shouted at Mailun with agitated emotions.
"You're really standing there talking without feeling the pain. You didn't see the Two-legged Sheep that harassed us, especially those masked ones. They were a bunch of lunatics; they were carrying out their Task with death as their goal. I don't even know how they appeared in our Base Camp. If you had encountered this situation, the outcome might not have been as good as mine!"
Mailun was already full of pent-up anger, and now that Maike was actually arguing with him, he naturally retorted without backing down in the slightest.
"Are you scared by those Two-legged Sheep? If I had known, I should have been the one to attack the Inner City!"
"F***, you didn't encounter that situation! I'm really ***!"
The two argued in the tent for thirty minutes; in the end, Mailun and Maike both looked at each other, panting.
Mailun spoke first, "It's too late to say anything now. Arguing here won't change anything. Let's decide what to do next."
"Right now, I only have two Rune Cannons here. Rune Cannons are too slow to produce, and furthermore, the High Priest has ordered us to try and expand the production of Rune Armor, letting Rune Armor gradually replace Rune Bulletproof Armor."
After Maike finished speaking, he thought carefully and continued.
"Attacking the Inner City is unrealistic now. We lack heavy firepower and can only control the Outer City first. I remember the information from the Inner City scouts before was that the Inner City has no place to produce food or weapons. Therefore, as long as they don't dare to leave the Inner City, we will wait for their food to be exhausted before attacking."
Mailun spoke up at this moment, "The Two-legged Sheep in the Inner City aren't the most annoying; the main thing is those Two-legged Sheep in the Outer City that harassed me! They must be eliminated, otherwise, they will continue to pose a threat to us!"
Maike looked at Mailun being so concerned about a harassment unit and asked curiously.
"Mailun, why do you care so much about that harassment unit? Do they have any special abilities?"
Mailun shook his head and said, "I've seen them fight. They don't have those strange abilities, but their physical fitness is excellent. Combined with their combat awareness, they can go head-to-head with our Orc warriors; our Orc warriors even suffer in terms of combat experience."
Mailun paused, pondered for a moment, and continued, "I've never seen Two-legged Sheep with such sharp combat awareness before. Their combat awareness gives me the feeling that they were carved out of a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood. Moreover, their weapons are also strange; they are a beam of light. After hitting our Orc warriors who weren't wearing Rune Bulletproof Armor, it directly burned a hole through our warriors' chests. Our warriors simply cannot recover from the wounds."
Upon hearing the description of this weapon, Maike said with some disbelief, "Two-legged Sheep actually have this kind of weapon? I haven't seen them use it before? This must be the Two-legged Sheep's trump card; I estimate the quantity shouldn't be too high."
Mailun also shook his head, "I'm not sure either. I originally wanted to send some troops to capture the Captain of this unit, but then the Base Camp caught fire and the Inner City City Defense Cannons opened fire. To avoid greater losses, I could only have all the Orc warriors retreat first."
"Then let's stabilize the situation in the Outer City first, recover our strength, and manufacture some more Rune Cannons and Rune Armor. We'll explain the situation here to the High Priest at the gathering in a few days. And while we're at it, find that harassment unit you mentioned."
Maike pondered for a moment and said to Mailun.
"That's the only way. Once I capture the Captain of that unit, I will torture it well and make it wish it were dead!"
Mailun's gaze was gloomy, with a ruthless glint in his eyes.
Fourth Defense Zone Inner City.
After learning that Xindi and Yingzhou had agreed to let the survivors in the Outer City head to the Inner City, Kelin and Kaxi quickly rushed to the vicinity of the Giant Wall and found Xindi, who was still directing his subordinates to clean up the battlefield.
"Councilor Xindi, we need to have a good talk." Kelin said to Xindi seriously.
"Clean this place up, and that side too." Upon seeing Kelin and Kaxi coming to find him, Xindi knew their purpose.
After he let his soldiers go to clean up the battlefield, he turned to the two of them.
"Let's go, let's talk in my tent."
The three arrived at the tent, and Xindi said to the two.
"Let's get straight to the point. The crisis in the Inner City is now resolved. There are still many survivors in the Outer City. Although we didn't rescue them from the Orcs, we can bring them into the Inner City to ensure their safety."
Kelin looked into Xindi's eyes for a long time before speaking.
"Councilor Xindi, I acknowledge that you had merit during this Orc attack on the Inner City, but regarding the matter of receiving survivors, you are far too lacking in consideration."
Xindi curled his lips in dissatisfaction, stared straight at Kelin without backing down, and said in a serious tone.
"I just know that the residents of the Outer City have hope of entering the Inner City to survive. They were finally rescued from the Orc camp by Yingzhou; shouldn't they be allowed to enter the Inner City to take refuge?"
"But have you considered the consequences? We don't have many supplies now, and the Inner City has no factories or raw materials to produce food. Right now, we should be stabilizing the order of the Inner City. Only when the Inner City order is stable can we consider such things."
Kelin did not shrink back because Xindi stared at him; he stated the current situation of the Inner City.
"The crisis in the Inner City is now resolved, which proves that the Orcs also suffered heavy losses this time. The survivors Yingzhou rescued, just as you mentioned in your communication earlier, are numerous. We simply cannot afford the basic survival needs of so many survivors."
