Chapter 132: Encirclement

~7 min read 1,269 words

As time passed, the casualties on both sides continued to mount.

Inside this abandoned building were a few Human Alliance soldiers; they were the only ones left of their unit. A portion of the Orcs outside split off and charged into the abandoned building. A faint blue light flickered in one soldier's eyes, and he pressed his palm against the nearby wall; instantly, a thin layer of ice spread rapidly across the wall.

The ice layer continued to spread, soon reaching the location of the Orcs. However, these Orcs did not pay any attention to this thin ice, even holding it in contempt. More than a dozen Orcs rushed headlong toward the stairs of the abandoned building, their mouths babbling in a language that could not be understood.

When the soldier sensed that the Orcs had stepped onto his ice, the corners of his mouth curled up slightly. Immediately after, he exerted sudden force with the palm pressed against the wall, and a burst of snowflakes erupted from the ice layer beneath the feet of the charging Orcs. These snowflakes were like living things, quickly attaching themselves to the Orcs and freezing their bodies into ice at an astonishing speed. In the end, these dozen or so Orcs all turned into ice sculptures.

Seeing this, the other soldiers tacitly poked their heads out from their cover and opened fire, shattering the ice sculptures. As the gunfire rang out, the ice sculptures broke apart, and the Orcs inside, like the ice itself, became a pile of fragments on the ground.

"Hoo... this move just consumes too much Spiritual Power," the soldier exhaled a heavy breath of cold air and said slowly.

"Hahaha, it was worth it; I've killed at least 10 Orcs since coming to the Outer City this time," a soldier laughed heartily and said.

"More Orcs are coming!" the soldier guarding the stairwell said to his comrades after seeing another batch of Orcs enter.

"Continue!" These soldiers returned to their respective positions once again.

A moment later, a Priest Apprentice Orc stood before the corpses of these Two-legged Sheep. When he had seen that thin layer of ice, he had used a Plague Rune to weaken the strength of these Two-legged Sheep, then used a Psychic Rune to summon two beast claws behind them to crush them all.

What was in front of him now was more accurately described as a puddle of meat paste than corpses.

"So this is the 'Two-legged Sheep with strange abilities' you were talking about? They're nothing much."

The Priest Apprentice wiped the meat paste he had stepped on against the wall to the side and said to the Beast Race warriors beside him with disdain.

"It's mainly because the abilities of those Two-legged Sheep are too troublesome; our brothers who just charged up were turned into ice blocks and shattered all over the floor," the Beast Race warrior beside the Priest Apprentice said, pointing to the mixture of melted ice and blood on the stairs.

"Let's go, we need to hurry up and finish off those surrounded Two-legged Sheep. Lord Maike has been in a bad mood lately, probably because he was lectured by the High Priest for failing to take the Inner City."

The Priest Apprentice held his staff and slowly left the building.

Maike watched the encirclement beginning to shrink and said with a smile, "These Two-legged Sheep really did leave those city walls. Their combat effectiveness is indeed much worse now; they can't compare to the Two-legged Sheep from before we failed to take the Outer City. Their combat experience is too poor."

"Boom, boom, boom!"

Maike saw a gap appear in the encirclement and watched the Human Alliance's Prowler Tank drive out from the ruins, its cannon barrel aimed at the opening just blasted by a Rune Bullet, its tracks crushing the corpses of the Orcs as it advanced, followed by many soldiers.

"They're trying to break out. Adjust the position of the Rune Cannons and blast those Two-legged Sheep's tanks into scrap metal!"

Just as Maike finished speaking, a burst of artillery fire also appeared on the other side of the encirclement.

It was more numerous and denser than the previous artillery fire, and Maike ordered his guards to immediately go and check what was happening there.

There were at least 70 cannons; those Two-legged Sheep in the Inner City couldn't possibly have so many cannons. Previously, he had estimated that the surrounded Two-legged Sheep had at most 30 cannons and 7 or 8 tanks; these cannon sounds were completely different from the previous ones.

"Are they reinforcements?" Maike narrowed his eyes and muttered to himself.

Soon, the guard walked quickly to Maike's side and saluted respectfully.

"Lord Maike, a group of masked Two-legged Sheep has appeared over there, and they have already engaged our warriors."

Maike suddenly realized; this was the unit of Two-legged Sheep that Mailun had mentioned was harassing him. How could they appear here? Didn't that guy Mailun go to find trouble with them? It looked like he hadn't encountered them.

Maike nodded and asked.

"How many of them are there?"

"Reporting to you, my Lord, including the artillerymen firing from behind, there should be fewer than 1,000 of them, but their firepower is too fierce; our warriors are having a hard time displaying their strength."

"I see. Adjust the Rune Cannons; we will eliminate this masked Two-legged Sheep unit first, then deal with those Two-legged Sheep in the Inner City. I want to see what is so different about these Two-legged Sheep that Mailun mentioned."

"Yes!"

The Orcs being shelled by the Krieg Artillery were hiding behind cover, waiting for the shelling to end.

After waiting for a good while, the shelling from the opposite side stopped.

"Just how many shells do those Two-legged Sheep have? Are they free or something!" an Orc warrior hiding behind cover shouted angrily.

"Boom, boom, boom!"

At this moment, the Orc heard the sound of cannons coming from behind him, and immediately after, a cloud of dust and smoke was blasted up from the Two-legged Sheep's artillery position.

A group of Orcs wearing Rune Armor and holding Large Rifles in their hands launched a charge toward the Two-legged Sheep's artillery position, and the Rune Cannons behind them also fired in rhythm.

"Don't just stand there, follow us and charge up to finish off those Two-legged Sheep!" a fully armed Orc Guard said to these Orc warriors.

"For glory!"

These Beast Race warriors hiding behind cover finally reacted, roaring as they rushed out from behind the cover and charged toward the Two-legged Sheep's artillery position.

The artillery position on the opposite side fired again after being hit by the Rune Cannons.

This left the Orcs who had charged halfway feeling puzzled; how did these Two-legged Sheep manage to do that?

Faintly, amidst the sound of artillery fire, a sharp whistle was heard.

Immediately after, Two-legged Sheep wearing gas masks rushed out from behind the ruins, their weapons firing at the charging Orcs.

Both sides engaged in a brief firefight, followed by a barrage of artillery fire.

Yingzhou, not far away, did not pay attention to the battle happening there; what he needed to do now was find the Beast Race Priest here and eliminate him.

Upon seeing a group of fully armed Beast Race Guards wearing Rune Armor appear, Yingzhou knew that the Beast Race Priest had come out.

Summoning all the Catachan tough guys, Yingzhou led 50 Catachan Demons and over 100 Catachan tough guys to sneak over there, preparing to carry out a decapitation strike.
