Chapter 1354: I Am Not Here to Save You
Dakai Shimo nodded and turned to leave.
Weisi picked up the Communication Device on the command console.
"Weitelasi, what is the situation with the Orbital Fleet?"
Weitelasi's voice came through the Communication Device, mixed with the sounds of explosions and alarms.
"General, infected individuals have appeared within the fleet as well! They sabotaged the engines and blew up the ammunition depot; at least ten Capital Ships have lost combat capability."
Weisi was silent for a long time, then asked.
"Chengjia Star, the situation with the Xiuluo Saint."
Weitelasi's voice was trembling.
"General, the fleet commander of Chengjia Star, Valuokesi, sent a message asking if they need support."
Weisi looked at the chaotic city outside the window.
"Tell them the truth."
The other end of the Communication Device was silent for a moment. Then Weitelasi said.
"General, they were silent after hearing it. In that moment, I thought I heard them sigh, or perhaps it was my imagination."
Weisi put down the Communication Device.
Xiuluo Holy Star, Primarch Residential Area, Yingzhou's study.
The night was deep, and Yingzhou sat before his desk, facing the red ocean on the Holographic Star Map marked with Zerg activity areas.
The defensive line on Chengjia Star still held, but something had happened on Kalini Star.
In his mind, that voice which had not appeared for a long time sounded.
【Detected large-scale Genestealer infection within the Bode Star System. Infected area: Kalini Star.】
【Task issued: Prevent the spread of Genestealers. Task objective: Eliminate all Genestealer infection sources on Kalini Star. Task time limit: 72 standard hours. Task reward: Random Draw twice.】
Yingzhou's hand paused in mid-air.
Genestealers.
The vanguard of the Tyranid, spies lurking in the shadows.
They disguise themselves as normal individuals, infiltrate the interior of society, and begin to disintegrate the entire civilization from the bottom up.
Yingzhou had never seen them in reality, but he had read descriptions of them in the memories from before he transmigrated.
Genestealers infect hosts by implanting genetic material; the hosts look no different from normal individuals on the surface, but their genes have been rewritten, and their offspring will be completely transformed into true Zerg.
More importantly, a Genestealer infection is equivalent to opening a channel for the Zerg inside the fortifications; when the external Zerg launch a full-scale attack, the offspring of the infected will blow up the defensive lines from within.
If Kalini Star falls, then the sacrifice of Chengjia Star will be meaningless; the spread must be stopped.
The infected on Kalini Star must be eliminated, leaving not a single one.
When he turned around, he had already pressed the Communication Device.
"Selina, notify Lion's Dark Angels Legion to change their course and head to Kalini Star first to execute an isolation and extermination Task. Order them to blockade the orbit and forbid any ships from entering or leaving. At the same time, inform Mortarion and Vulkan that a new threat has appeared in the rear. Let them continue to hold firm on Chengjia Star; for now, it does not look too bad."
Selina's holographic projection appeared.
"His Majesty, the Dark Angels Legion is still on the way, expected to arrive at Chengjia Star five hours after noon."
"Does Jia Star have Astra Militarum stationed there?"
Selina's data stream flickered.
"Yes, the Cadian Shock Troops 19th Regiment is stationed in the Jia Star System."
Yingzhou nodded.
"Have them coordinate with the Dark Angels during resupply. Additionally, notify Lion, demanding that this be completely ended before the Genestealers spread to other planets."
"Yes, His Majesty."
Kalini Star orbit, the Dark Angels fleet arrived.
On the Bridge, Lion stood before the Holographic Star Map, looking at that gray-blue Kalini Star.
Sensor data was refreshing rapidly, but the first batch of returned signals made his brow furrow slightly.
"Father, a large number of unknown heat sources have appeared in the orbit of Kalini Star. The characteristics are wreckage from ship engine explosions; at least ten Capital Ships have lost power."
Lion did not answer.
The Communications Officer's voice carried a hint of confusion.
"My Lord, Canaan Fleet Commander Weitelasi has sent a communication request."
Lion nodded.
"Put it through."
Weitelasi's holographic projection appeared in the center of the Bridge.
His uniform was scorched black, there was a fresh wound on his face, and the background was a smoke-filled Bridge.
"Lord Lion, an infection has broken out on Kalini Star. Zerg Genestealers have infiltrated from within; the Third District and Fourth District have already completely fallen. The infected are still spreading. Our troops have suffered heavy losses and cannot control the situation."
Lion asked.
"Has the source of infection been confirmed?"
Weitelasi said.
"Confirmed, it is the fleet that returned from the war zone."
Lion was silent for a second.
"Where is Weisi?"
Weitelasi's face turned pale.
"The General is at the Command Center; when the infection broke out, he was attacked by his own officers and was injured. Now the defensive line in the Fourth District can only hold for a few more hours."
Lion cut off the communication and faced the officers on the Bridge.
"All fleets, enter orbital blockade formation. No ship shall enter or leave Kalini Star, at any cost."
Adjutant Salafan stood at attention.
"Father, how should we handle the Alien on the surface?"
Lion said.
"Every single person on the entire planet could be an infected, or they could be an asymptomatic carrier; quarantine work for them is simply impossible. If one ship is let go, the next planet will suffer the same outbreak."
Salafan lowered his head. "Understood."
He turned to relay the order.
Lion stood before the viewing window, looking at that planet.
The orbital blockade was complete.
The fleet of the Dark Angels formed an airtight perimeter around Kalini Star.
No ship could get out, no ship could get in.
Communication requests sent by the Canaanites on the surface came one after another; Lion did not answer a single one.
Salafan walked over.
"Father, Weisi has sent another communication request, saying they are organizing an evacuation and requesting that we assist in transporting civilians."
"Tell him, there is no evacuation."
Salafan relayed the order.
A moment later, he spoke again.
"He requests to speak with you personally. He says there are hundreds of millions of civilians on Kalini Star; it is impossible for them all to be infected."
"Put him through."
General Weisi's holographic projection appeared in the center of the Bridge.
His forehead was wrapped in bandages, with blood seeping out from beneath them. His eyes were bloodshot, and his voice was hoarse.
"Lord Lion, the defense line in the Fourth District cannot hold. The infected are breaking through the final line of defense. We have already lost control of the Third District; the disparity in strength between the enemy and us is too great.
We cannot organize an effective counterattack; we request that you provide ground support. Even if you only send one company of Space Marines down to help us hold the evacuation route, we will be able to transfer as many people out as possible."
Lion looked at him.
"Weisi, I am not here to save you."
