Chapter 1443: Orcs Build Their Own Processing Plant

~7 min read 1,264 words

The transport ship arrived at its destination after sailing for nearly a day.

Several transport ships lined up in a row and descended toward the planet's surface.

The transport ships passed through the atmosphere, and the whistling sound of friction came from outside the portholes.

The transport ships landed on a flat open space, the hatches opened, and a dry wind blew in, carrying the smell of sand and soil.

Jiate was the first to walk out, his feet stepping on the gravel, looking around at the desolate landscape.

In the ship's cabin behind him, the Orcs walked out one after another.

They stood on the open ground, looking around blankly.

Six hundred thousand Orcs gathered on this wasteland, dense and packed, with no end in sight.

An old female Orc holding a cub walked to Jiate's side.

"Jiate, are we living here?"

Jiate nodded and replied.

"Yes, right here."

"What about the shacks? The materials? The tools?"

Jiate did not speak; Sebastian had only told him to bring the Orcs here.

He turned around and saw a Space Marine in red Power Armor walking down from a transport ship.

Jiate recognized him; it was Sebastian's Adjutant.

The Adjutant walked up to Jiate.

"Jiate, you will settle down here; you must stay here first. Find a way to build shacks."

Jiate was stunned.

"Without materials or tools, how are we supposed to build them?"

"That is your problem. The Chapter Master said you have six hundred thousand. Six hundred thousand—you can build shacks with your bare hands."

He turned and walked toward the transport ship.

Jiate turned to face the Orcs; six hundred thousand of them were all looking at him.

"Everyone, listen to me! We need to build shacks. Everyone, move, or we will die here!"

The Orcs began to pick up the materials they could find around them and started building their own shacks.

A few days later, several more transport ships flew down from the sky.

The ships landed at the edge of the open space, the hatches opened, and the Fengqi walked out.

The leading Fengqi walked over and looked at Jiate.

"Are you the leader of the Orcs?"

Jiate said.

"Yes, who are you?"

The Fengqi said.

"My name is Wei Li An. The Emperor sent us here to work, and you Orcs are responsible for assisting us."

Jiate looked at him.

"You are also Aliens; why help the Humans?"

Wei Li An shook his head and said.

"After we Fengqi were defeated, we don't know how long we spent digging ore on resource planets, and many of us died of exhaustion. Now that we have the chance to work here, the conditions are better; at least we don't have to work in poisonous gas."

Jiate did not speak.

Wei Li An turned and walked toward the other Fengqi.

They began to unload cargo from the ship: mechanical parts, building materials, tools, and equipment. Jiate looked at those things and walked over to help, but was stopped by a Fengqi.

"You don't need to do anything. You are responsible for the heavy labor: moving stones, digging foundations, and carrying things. We will handle the precision work."

Jiate nodded and turned to call the Orcs over to move things.

The next day, a larger ship landed in the center of the open space.

The hatch opened, and Humans wearing work uniforms walked out.

The leading engineer took off his safety helmet, looked at the stone circles around him, and frowned.

He walked up to Jiate and looked him up and down.

"Are you the Alien in charge here?"

Jiate said.

"Yes, and you are?"

The engineer said.

"My name is Miyier, from Perturabo's Engineering Team. The Emperor sent us here to build some factories."

He looked around at the Orcs and the stone walls.

"These are the conditions? You don't even have a decent place to live?"

Jiate said.

"We only arrived a few days ago and haven't had time to build them yet."

Miyier shook his head.

"Aliens are truly lazy. Where is Chapter Master Sebastian?"

Jiate pointed to a tent in the distance.

"Chapter Master Sebastian is over there."

Miyier walked toward the tent, and Jiate followed behind.

At the entrance of the tent, two Sons of the People warriors stood guard; seeing Miyier, they raised their hands in a salute.

"Comrade, please wait a moment."

One warrior lifted the tent flap, walked inside, and came out a moment later.

"Comrade Chapter Master invites you in."

Inside the tent, Sebastian sat behind a folding table, with maps and documents spread out before him.

He stood up and extended his large hand.

"Comrade Miyier, welcome."

Miyier shook his hand.

"Chapter Master Sebastian, I have received the Emperor's order. The breeding farm and the cannery require your cooperation."

Sebastian said.

"The Sons of the People Chapter will fully cooperate with the Engineering Team's construction; just say how many men you need."

Miyier took a roll of blueprints from his bag and spread them out on the table.

The blueprints showed floor plans, elevations, and piping diagrams for the factory buildings.

"The breeding farm needs to cover fifty thousand hectares, divided into ten zones. Each zone has pens and feed storage; the cannery needs to cover ten thousand hectares, including the slaughterhouse, cutting workshop, canning production line, cold storage, and packaging workshop. There are also dormitories for the Fengqi workers, a canteen, and a sewage treatment plant. The total construction period is one month."

Sebastian looked at the blueprints.

"Can it be finished in one month? Is there enough time?"

Miyier said.

"As long as there is enough labor, have all the Orcs move building materials, dig foundations, and transport earthwork; the Fengqi will be responsible for technical construction, and we will be responsible for construction management."

Sebastian said.

"Very well. Jiate, did you hear that?"

Jiate stood at the entrance, listening.

"I heard it. I will mobilize everyone."

Miyier looked at Jiate.

"You are an Orc too; you are responsible for keeping your own kind in line so there is no trouble. If trouble arises, someone will deal with it; I won't."

Jiate nodded.

"Rest assured, there will be no trouble."

Sebastian said.

"Jiate, go select high-quality labor, have them take charge of the heavy work, and report to Comrade Miyier so the project can begin as soon as possible."

Jiate turned and left.

Only Sebastian and Miyier remained in the tent.

Miyier put away the blueprints and looked at Sebastian.

"Comrade Chapter Master, are these Orcs behaving themselves? Will they cause any trouble?"

Sebastian said.

"No, they no longer have the heart to resist; tell the comrades of the Engineering Team to rest easy."

Miyier nodded.

"That is good. Although Lord Perturabo did not come, he gave instructions that this project is of great importance and cannot have any slip-ups; the Emperor is watching."

Sebastian said.

"The Sons of the People will cooperate fully; go ahead and do your work."

The day after the Engineering Team arrived, construction began.

The Orcs stood in lines, listening to Miyier assign Tasks.

As Miyier told the Tasks to Jiate, he had Jiate distribute them.

These Orcs began to walk step by step, shirtless, carrying steel beams.

Miyier stood on a mound of dirt, holding a megaphone in his hand.

"Speed it up! You useless Aliens! The foundation must be finished today! Pouring starts tomorrow! Those who are slow get no food tonight! I don't care what you think! Just speed it up for me!"

Hearing these words, the Orcs quickened their pace.
