Chapter 1495: Not Yet Begun, Already Ended

~7 min read 1,272 words

Xierta saw a golden afterimage moving at high speed along the center line of the street in his direction; wherever it passed, those Keloke soldiers fell in rows like wheat mown by a sickle.

The speed of that golden afterimage was extremely fast; where the golden figure passed, those soldiers were either cleaved in two, or hit in the torso by a horizontal swing of the spear shaft, causing them to fold backward and fly into the wall.

Not a single person could block the first contact of that spear.

Xierta's gaze followed the golden figure, and he saw the figure suddenly stop for an instant, the spear in his hand held horizontally, the tip pointing left.

The spear traced a semicircular arc at waist height; within the area swept by the arc, the torsos of the Keloke soldiers who were raising their guns were neatly divided into upper and lower halves by that golden arc.

"What is this? Even Kraken warriors wouldn't be his match, right?"

Xierta said in disbelief.

Screams came from both ends of the street simultaneously.

From the direction of the main entrance, those five Lamenters Space Marines in yellow Power Armor had already advanced from the entrance to the center of the street.

The Keloke soldiers in the front row were caught by the teeth of the Chainswords, and after a brief tremor, they were quickly split in two.

The soldiers in the back row tried to retreat and reorganize their formation, but the street width was limited, and both sides were blocked by the Lamenters Space Marines, cutting off their retreat; they were squeezed in the middle, unable to deploy, and the weapons hitting that layer of yellow Power Armor only produced sparks and dents.

Meanwhile, the golden afterimage walked toward Xierta's direction.

Any Keloke soldiers along the way were either flicked away by the spear or directly cleaved open as he passed, his speed so fast that his movements could not be seen at all.

The few remaining guards beside Xierta raised their weapons simultaneously, firing at the golden figure's path in rapid-fire mode, but it had no effect.

The officer beside Xierta stepped back half a pace, his voice trembling noticeably.

My lord! We cannot retreat anymore...

Before he could finish speaking, the spear in the golden figure's hand lifted upward, the tip tracing a short arc from bottom to top; the weapon the officer had just raised, along with the officer himself, was split in two.

Gewanuosai retracted his spear, the tip pointing at Xierta's face.

Xierta could no longer move; facing such a monster, whether he moved or not made little difference.

Gewanuosai grabbed Xierta's shoulder armor with his left hand, lifted Xierta off the ground with one hand as if carrying a bag of cargo, and then turned and walked toward the front of the street.

Gewanuosai walked past those Keloke soldiers who still had faint signs of life, the spear in his right hand moving rapidly, each strike precisely taking the life of a soldier.

The five Lamenters Space Marines at the main entrance had also stopped attacking.

They stood in the center of the street, with the corpses of Keloke soldiers lying helter-skelter on the ground around them, covering a large area from the main entrance to the middle of the street, and the walls on both sides of the street were splattered with blood and fragments.

Xierta was carried by Gewanuosai through the entire street; when passing by those Lamenters Space Marines, he saw the piles of Keloke soldier corpses at the feet of those yellow-armored warriors, densely covering the road.

All the transport vehicles he had brought remained in place, but there were fallen soldiers everywhere beside and under the vehicles; many had not even had time to unload the heavy suppression weapons carried on the vehicles before they were killed.

Those heavy weapons were still strapped to the mounting racks on the roofs, perfectly packaged, having not fired a single shot from start to finish.

Gewanuosai walked to the corner of the street and stopped, letting go and throwing Xierta onto the ground.

Xierta's knees hit the road surface, and he knelt prostrate; he propped himself up with his arms and raised his head, and a person was standing in front of him.

Lu Zhenda was wearing a dark gray coat with a neat collar, holding no weapons in his hands, with over a dozen Lucifer Black Guard soldiers behind him.

Lu Zhenda looked down at Xierta kneeling on the ground and asked with a smile.

Why did you come here to attack me? Don't you know about the friendly relationship between us and your His Majesty?

Xierta raised his head, looked at Lu Zhenda's calm face, and said stubbornly.

Friendly relationship? That is a facade you use to deceive the Keloke Empire. Your Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance fleet is on its way; you are coming to the Keloke Empire under the banner of support, but in reality, you want to turn this place into your vassal territory.

His Majesty Kesi was scared out of his wits by you; he dared not refuse you, so I will do it.

Xierta stared fixedly at Lu Zhenda, his speech accelerating.

I failed today, but if I had another chance, I would still do it. Because you are not here to help us at all; you want the Keloke Empire to be destroyed. That Emperor of yours is nothing but a cruel tyrant, he...

Lu Zhenda stood where he was; when Xierta uttered those two words, his brows furrowed slightly, and he turned his head to look at Gewanuosai.

Gewanuosai stood at Xierta's side, and the instant he heard those words, his wrist flipped, and the spear slashed down from Xierta's neck.

Xierta's head paused above his shoulders for less than half a second, then slid off to the left along the angle of the cut, fell to the ground, rolled twice, and stopped at the edge of the street gutter.

Gewanuosai stood the spear upright on the ground, his right hand gripping the shaft, returning to a standard standby posture.

Xierta's headless body remained in a kneeling, prostrate posture without falling, fresh blood continuously gushing from his severed neck.

Lu Zhenda swept his gaze over this tragic battlefield and spoke.

Notify Kesi's side that Xierta attacked the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance delegation and has been executed; tell him to send people to clean up.

A Lucifer Black Guard Sergeant behind him stood at attention and responded.

Yes! My lord!

Gewanuosai stood beside Lu Zhenda and asked.

How should the corpses be handled? If not handled in time, it might affect your sleep quality, my lord.

Lu Zhenda glanced at Xierta's corpse.

It doesn't matter; my sleep quality will not worsen. On the contrary, because the goal has been achieved, I will sleep just fine.

Leave these corpses to Kesi; Xierta's crimes are already confirmed: attacking a friendly delegation, mobilizing troops without authorization, and being killed on the spot during the attack.

There is no need for any trial, and Kesi can save himself the trouble of filling out the charge sheet.

"Understood, my lord."

Lu Zhenda stretched and returned to the residence where he was staying.

Before going in, Gewanuosai ordered the Lamenters squad to gather the corpses.

Having received the order, the Lamenters Space Marines began to disperse to clear the scattered Keloke soldiers remaining on both sides of the street.

Occasionally, a few soldiers who were not quite dead struggled weakly on the ground, and the Lamenters Space Marines would crush their heads with a stomp.
