Chapter 150: I Will Not Betray Human
At Ji Bu's gesture, Yingzhou sat straight on the sofa, occupying more than half of the piece that would have been spacious for two people.
"It must have been truly exhausting in the Fourth Defense Zone this time; you must have encountered quite a few dangers, right?"
Ji Bu looked Yingzhou up and down and spoke with a smile.
No matter how many times he saw this soldier, he always felt a sense of shock.
"For the sake of Human, it is nothing. Watching the residents of the Fourth Defense Zone lose hope under the enslavement of the Beast Race, I only hate that I cannot eliminate these Alien Race; these damned Alien Race."
When he reached a point of emotional agitation, Yingzhou even gave the sofa a light pat.
A flash of surprise crossed Ji Bu's eyes; he had originally thought this soldier would merely offer a humble refusal or speak of the dangers encountered, but this soldier seemed to have no interest in his own problems, focusing all his attention on the survivors of the Fourth Defense Zone.
"Your answer is very interesting. I have never seen someone who, after executing what could be called a suicide Task, has no bitterness in their heart. Your awareness has already surpassed the vast majority of soldiers. I want to ask you a question, and you must answer according to your own heart; I can still tell whether you are speaking the truth or a lie."
Seeing Ji Bu looking at him seriously, Yingzhou knew this superior was in earnest, so he nodded solemnly and replied.
"Mm, please ask."
"How much longer do you think we Human can hold out in this racial war?"
Ji Bu stared straight at Yingzhou and asked his question.
"Superior, what I am considering is not how much longer Human can hold out, but rather driving all these Alien Race out and eliminating them!"
Watching the soldier before him say these words without the slightest hesitation, it was clear that he had already thought about this idea long ago.
"A very good idea, but our current situation is not very good; aren't the issues you are considering a bit out of touch with reality?"
Seeing that Ji Bu did not immediately deny his idea, Yingzhou continued to speak.
"No, I believe this is achievable. Although I do not know the reason why those Alien Race invaded us, since they have already provoked this war, then they should be prepared to pay the price in their own blood. In this war, Human will either head toward extinction or trample these Alien Race underfoot; we have no way back, only battle!"
Ji Bu was now particularly curious about this young man's train of thought; how did he feel that Human could reach such a point?
"Yingzhou, you are a fantastic soldier! I have remembered what you said today; I hope you will always maintain this original intention. Next is a personal question: will you betray the Human Alliance?"
Yingzhou was somewhat surprised that Ji Bu would actually ask this question, but he quickly gave his reply.
"I will not betray Human, never."
After hearing Yingzhou's answer, Ji Bu looked at Yingzhou's eyes thoughtfully; in those brown pupils, there was not a trace of emotion, and the gaze met Ji Bu's eyes directly.
"I am very happy to meet you, Yingzhou. I admire your character and hope you can fulfill what you have said. You have worked hard executing the Task this time; I will have Nie Hao give you a few days of leave. Get some good rest."
Ji Bu extended his right hand and said to Yingzhou with a smile.
"Thank you, Superior!"
Yingzhou's broad palm gripped Ji Bu's, then he let go and turned to leave Ji Bu's office.
After Yingzhou left, a flash of conflict crossed Ji Bu's eyes; in the end, Yingzhou had not said he would not betray the Human Alliance, but when he said he would not betray Human, he was absolutely speaking from the heart.
The Human Alliance could represent Human, but Human did not represent the Human Alliance.
Ji Bu leaned back against the sofa, pinched the corners of his eyes with his hand, and muttered to himself with a bit of a headache.
"Trample these Alien Race underfoot, huh? Truly a bold idea; I really look forward to his performance in the Military District later."
After Yingzhou left Ji Bu's office, he prepared to go report to Legion Commander Nie Hao. Just as he walked out of the Military District's office building, an excited voice came from behind Yingzhou.
"Are you... Yingzhou?"
Yingzhou turned his head in confusion to look, only to see a yellow-haired man looking at him with an expression of disbelief. After Yingzhou turned around, the man walked up excitedly, looked at Yingzhou's height of nearly 2.7 meters, and spoke in surprise.
"It really is you! I'm not dreaming, am I!"
Yingzhou looked at the yellow-haired man's excited appearance, which was a bit more seasoned and mature than in his memories, and his skin was also much darker than he remembered. Thinking of this, a smile appeared on Yingzhou's face as he said.
"Bai Tao, it really has been a long time. How have you been lately?"
Seeing that the ridiculously strong man before him was indeed his good brother who had sacrificed himself back at school, Bai Tao lost control of his emotions and patted Yingzhou's arms.
"That's great, it's so great that you're alive! I had been hearing that there was a soldier in the Military District named Yingzhou who was very sturdy and tall. I thought it was just someone with the same name as you! How did you grow even taller?"
Bai Tao looked at Yingzhou, who was looking down at him like a giant, wiped away the tears swirling in his eyes, and said happily.
"Which Legion are you serving in now?" Yingzhou was also particularly happy to see Bai Tao.
"I am serving in the Eighth Legion now, still a new recruit. Today I came here with our Captain to process the military supply list."
"Seeing you like this now, I am also very happy."
Just as the two were talking, a man in military uniform not far away shouted to Bai Tao, "Bai Tao, what are you doing! I turned around, and how did you disappear?"
"Yingzhou, do you have any other plans today? I'll come find you once I'm done!" Bai Tao asked in a hurried tone.
Yingzhou smiled and patted his shoulder, saying, "You go ahead and get busy; I shouldn't be leaving too soon."
"OK! Sorry! Captain! I'm coming!"
Bai Tao said this as he jogged toward the man. Before leaving, he said to Yingzhou, "Then I'm off, see you in a bit!"
Yingzhou watched Bai Tao leave and then departed the office building with a sense of nostalgia.
Walking out of the office building, Yingzhou saw Nie Hao, Hu Jie, and several members of his own squad chatting under a tree outside the office building.
Yingzhou walked up, saw Nie Hao waving at him, and said to Nie Hao with a smile, "Legion Commander, what are you chatting about? So happy?"
"You kid, you did well in the Fourth Defense Zone. Not only did you drive the Beast Race out of the Fourth Defense Zone, but you also saved quite a few survivors. Not bad! Let's have a drink tonight to celebrate!"
"Ahem, Legion Commander, drinking violates military regulations." Hu Jie coughed from the side and said to Nie Hao, who was in high spirits.
"Tsk, fine. Then let's just celebrate without drinking." Nie Hao glanced at Hu Jie and shrugged his shoulders.
