Chapter 1524: How Could They Possibly Be This Obedient!

~6 min read 1,028 words

Canaan Administrative District, headquarters building, District Chief's office.

Viridius stood before the door, straightened his attire, and knocked.

"Come in."

After receiving permission, Viridius walked into the office; District Chief Chamo was sitting behind the desk, his figure lean, wearing a dark-colored uniform of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance.

Seeing it was Viridius, Chamo spoke directly.

How did the matter regarding the Desolate Stars go? Has the Luolantan Zerg fleet arrived?

Viridius bowed slightly and said to Chamo.

Reporting to the District Chief, the Luolantan Zerg's biological fleet has arrived at the outer orbit of the Desolate Stars and is currently executing self-quarantine procedures before landing.

They accepted all three conditions without showing any delay or hesitation.

Subsequently, they will establish temporary habitats on the three Desolate Stars while beginning to send out summoning signals to other scattered Luolantan kin.

Chamo raised an eyebrow and said suspiciously.

So they really landed obediently? They didn't pull any tricks?

None at the moment; two surveillance fleets have arrived at the designated positions on the outskirts of the Desolate Stars and are continuously observing their actions.

The first fleet has established an observation node in synchronous orbit over Desolate Star A, and the second fleet is maintaining a patrol posture at the intersection of the shipping lanes between Desolate Star B and C.

Chamo sneered and reached out to pick up a data pad from the desktop.

Hah, for Aliens to be this obedient is enough to make one laugh their teeth out. By the way, who are the commanders of those two fleets?

Viridius replied.

The Desolate Star A observation node is commanded by Captain Dekalisi of the Third Guard Fleet, and the shipping lane patrol formation is commanded by Captain Ke'erta of the Seventh Patrol Fleet. If the Luolantan Zerg exhibit any boundary-crossing behavior, the commanders have the authority to Intercept before reporting.

Chamo placed the data pad back on the desktop and looked at Viridius, saying.

Continue to maintain observation. If the Zerg have no abnormal behavior within one standard week after landing, send the first-phase report to the Xiuluo Holy Star. If they have any probing boundary-crossings...

Understood, I will have the commanders remain vigilant.

Desolate Star A outer orbit, flagship of the Third Guard Fleet.

Dekalisi stood on the Bridge, hands behind his back, looking at the surface of the grey-white planet on the main display.

The image on the screen showed the Luolantan Zerg's biological ships slowly landing in a flat area on the planet's surface.

The Adjutant walked over from the side, holding a data pad, and reported.

Captain, the first wave of Luolantan Zerg landings was completed thirty minutes ago; currently, these Aliens have no abnormal movements.

Upon hearing the Adjutant's report, Dekalisi frowned slightly.

They didn't probe the boundaries? They didn't send reconnaissance units to circle to the back of the planet? They are just staying put like that?

No, from landing until now, all landed Zerg units have not left the edge of the landing zone. Their range of activity is concentrated in a narrow area, as if deliberately avoiding the area directly beneath our observation node.

Dekalisi said irritably.

How can they be this obedient? Those Aliens ran to our territory, landed on our planet, without any resistance, without any probing, just shrinking obediently in the landing site and not moving. This is illogical; what are they waiting for?

Do you guess if I let the ships lower their orbital altitude now to create a little pressure on them, they might not be able to help but make some moves? Then I would have a reason to open fire.

The Adjutant's expression changed slightly, and he said.

Captain, the orders we received are to monitor and remain alert. If active pressure causes a Zerg reaction...

Dekalisi impatiently interrupted the rest of the Adjutant's words.

I know the orders; I'm just saying if.

Dekalisi sat in the seat behind the command console and said.

Maintain observation; report any abnormal activity immediately.

Between Desolate Star C and B, flagship of the Seventh Patrol Fleet.

Ke'erta's fleet was maintaining an arc-shaped patrol route, moving back and forth at the intersection of the shipping lanes between the three Desolate Stars.

The communications console received a signal from the Desolate Star A observation node, and Dekalisi's voice came through the speaker with a tone of obvious impatience.

Ke'erta, how is it on your end? Do those Aliens have any movement?

Ke'erta replied in a calm tone.

None. I can see the surface of Desolate Star C from here; they haven't even set up any defensive fortifications around their landing site.

You also think something is wrong, right? That's what I'm seeing too; they are too cooperative. I always feel like they are waiting for something, or observing our reaction patterns.

Ke'erta said.

They have self-awareness, can communicate, can negotiate, and know what they are doing; this is completely different from the mindless Zerg we have seen on the border.

Dekalisi said with dissatisfaction.

Obedience is more cost-effective than resistance? You mean you're just going to watch them land obediently on our planet and then do nothing?

Ke'erta said.

They are Aliens. Now they are on our planet, within our surveillance range. If they cross the boundary, we have sufficient reason to open fire. But if they don't cross the boundary, active fire becomes an unprovoked attack. How would that be written in the Administrative District's report? How would we explain it to Chamo? What if it affects the Emperor's plan?

Dekalisi said unwillingly.

I understand everything you're saying, but I still hope they can do something so I have a reason...

Ke'erta soothed.

If they truly have a scheme, they will eventually reveal a flaw.

"Tch, they had better reveal a flaw for me to see."

Saying this, Dekalisi cut the communication link.

Ke'erta looked at the Zerg signal points moving quietly on the surface of Desolate Star C on the sensor screen and said to the Adjutant.

Keep the patrol route unchanged; rotate the sensor scan angle every three standard hours to cover the entire terrain range.

The Adjutant stood at attention and acknowledged.
