Chapter 184: Strange Humans
The Dominator Bug on the Zerg side discovered through the perspective of its children that these Humans had actually sent thousands of people to try and pin them down here; it was simply laughable!
Soon, the Blue Slime Bugs slowly raised their swollen tails at the rear of the Insect Tide, and immediately after, streams of blue slime flew toward the artillery position where the Krieg Artillery were located.
The high-temperature blue slime quickly incinerated everything it touched; the surviving Krieg Artillery turned their muzzles and began to counterattack against those Blue Slime Bugs. After several rounds of shelling, both sides suffered casualties, and the slime from the exploded Blue Slime Bugs fell onto the surroundings, killing quite a few more Zerg.
After resolving this batch of Blue Slime Bugs, the artillery position fired at the Swift Insect Tide again. Fortunately, with artillery support from the Human Alliance soldiers in the rear, the Swift Insect Tide did not overwhelm the Krieg soldiers' position.
The Krieg Commissar fired his Laser Pistol at a Swift Insect, and his Power Sword in his right hand hacked another Swift Insect approaching him into two smoking halves.
"Great Emperor! Please witness our Loyalty!"
The surrounding Krieg soldiers faced the Swift Insects without a hint of panic, skillfully pulling triggers, piercing the heads of Swift Insects with Bayonets, hacking the Swift Insects before them into two with Entrenching Tools, and throwing Hand Grenades to blast groups of Swift Insects into fragments.
But there were simply too many Swift Insects; even with artillery support, quite a few Swift Insects still charged into the trenches of the Krieg soldiers.
Furthermore, beneath the trenches, Zerg Burrower Bugs emerged from several tunnels, accompanied by a massive surge of Swift Insects.
After holding out for two and a half hours, the number of Krieg soldiers at the position had been reduced by more than half, and even the Krieg Commissar felt that there were more and more Aliens around him.
The artillery position exchanged fire with the Zerg's Blue Slime Bugs, losing quite a few artillery pieces as well.
Just as the Krieg Commissar felt he was about to offer his Loyalty to the Emperor, a roar of engines suddenly came from behind, accompanied by the firing of Laser Beams.
The Krieg Commissar looked back and saw Chimera Armored Vehicles driving toward them, surrounded by a group of newly reinforced Krieg soldiers who were firing their Lucius Model 98 Laser Rifles at the Aliens before them.
The Catachan toughs on the Chimera Armored Vehicles operated the Multi-lasers, firing at the Zerg in front.
The drivers and gunners inside the vehicles also fired at the Zerg in front, with Heavy Bolters harvesting the lives of the Zerg ahead.
These were Chimera Armored Vehicles driven by Catachan toughs, who roared in the cockpits while firing at the Aliens in front.
In the passenger compartment behind the Chimera Armored Vehicles, 6 Catachan toughs operated the Laser Guns on the armored vehicles, shooting down any Aliens that slipped through.
A total of 25 Chimera Armored Vehicles arrived on the battlefield, stabilizing the crumbling defensive line once again.
Facing these Chimera Armored Vehicles appearing on the battlefield, the Zerg side also discovered that the opposing Humans had received reinforcements.
The offensive became increasingly fierce, and the Swift Insect Tide was also interspersed with some Suicide Bugs. These Suicide Bugs, under the cover of the Swift Insect Tide, headed straight for the Chimera Armored Vehicles, but before they could get close, they were already shot dead by the Krieg soldiers in the trenches or shattered by the Heavy Bolters fired by the Catachan toughs inside the armored vehicles.
Soon, hundreds of upright Zerg between 15 and 20 meters tall and about 8 to 9 meters wide appeared in the Swift Insect Tide; their forelimbs had thick carapaces, and although their hind limbs were short, they made up for it in quantity.
These upright Zerg raised the thick carapaces in their hands and marched toward the Krieg soldiers' trenches.
Heavy Bolters and Laser Beams required more time to attack these upright Zerg, shattering their thick carapaces before killing the Alien.
The Krieg artillery position was also busy exchanging fire with the endless stream of Blue Slime Bugs, and even so, some blue slime still flew toward the position.
A day had passed since the war between the Zerg and the Krieg soldiers began, and the Human Alliance soldiers originally defending the 10th Position could only use artillery to continuously deplete the Zerg's numbers.
Cai Kun now completely felt that Yingzhou was a treasure bag; he could summon soldiers and artillery, and now he had even summoned armored vehicles—what else could he not summon?
Moreover, his soldiers also went to fill the front lines in batches, and not a single one of those soldiers refused to carry out orders; this was simply too absurd.
What shocked Cai Kun even more was that on the Zerg side, only a small number of Zerg went to attack the mountains on both sides, while the main offensive force was entirely attracted by that Human position holding firm in the Insect Tide.
And until now, the Zerg had no intention of stopping their offensive.
The two sides seemed to have fallen into a subtle tug-of-war for the time being.
Until noon the next day, Yingzhou rubbed his temples with some exhaustion and said to Cai Kun.
"Prepare to meet the enemy; those Zerg have broken through that defensive line."
Upon hearing this, Cai Kun said, "Commander Yingzhou, we are ready for battle at any time; the 10th Zhendi will absolutely not be lost!"
The Zerg had begun to launch attacks toward the valley and the mountains on both sides, but at the previous trench, countless Zerg corpses lay in a pile, and the entire battlefield was covered in Zerg corpses, occasionally interspersed with a few Human ones.
Because as long as they had a breath of life left, they would counterattack, or even perish together with the enemy.
"What strange Humans? When did Humans, this kind of creature, become the same as us Zerg? Do they not have fear? Why, knowing they are coming here to die, do they still come forward one after another to die? Making so many of my children die!"
A humanoid Zerg looked at a Human with only half a body remaining, wearing a high-peaked military cap, and shook the antennae on its head in confusion.
Immediately, it issued the order to attack to the Insect Tide in front, and controlled a dozen humanoid Zerg to attack from both sides of the mountain.
At the same time, the 10th Position also officially engaged the Zerg; many new recruits felt a sense of trepidation upon seeing those terrifying Zerg, but the results of their training at the New Recruit Training Camp prevented them from losing their footing due to fear.
"Quick, quick, quick! Those damn Aliens are about to charge up!"
Yun Shuangjin vented the fear in his heart at the Zerg in front, his index finger welded to the trigger.
"Watch your heads, beware of the Zerg's long-range attacks!"
A veteran shouted at this group of reckless new recruits. Just then, several clusters of blue slime flew overhead, and a few unlucky new recruits were directly devoured by the blue slime and vanished completely.
"Damn it! This is too terrifying!" Yun Shuangjin felt a sense of dread in his heart after seeing a comrade not far away hit by the blue slime flying from the sky, leaving no trace of his existence.
Damn! He was still in the valley; wouldn't the casualties on the mountains on both sides be even greater?
