Chapter 211: First Defense Zone
First Defense Zone.
In an area filled with trash everywhere, several Human corpses lay on the floor; their eyes were filled with unwillingness even in death, wisps of smoke were already rising from around their bodies, their abdomens had been blasted open with large holes, and a small amount of blood was slowly flowing out.
Not far from these corpses, another group of Humans wearing silver-white clothing walked over and said in a stiff tone.
"Are they still refusing to give up on sending signals? It's truly strange; clearly, one doesn't need to worry about the invasion of the Alien Race outside while here, so why still try to contact the outside world?"
"They only need to pay with the brains of half their compatriots to receive protection, yet they would actually refuse?"
"Number b9527, it is precisely because of this that they were invaded by those Alien Races, and after we took control of this area, those Alien Races did not want to provoke us; in just these few years, our technology has been constantly improving, allowing us to better arm ourselves."
A Human with a red light shining from their right eye spoke to the Human in the lead.
"They seem to have transmitted a small segment of a signal this time; I wonder if it will have any impact on our activities here."
The Human in the lead looked at the corpses lying on the ground, their pupils rotating constantly, as if contemplating some issues.
"Number b9527, the probability of the problem you are envisioning is very low; at the current rate of the Alien Race's offensive, the remaining few defense zones won't last much longer either, perhaps in another two or three generations, their civilization will completely disappear. Even if they saw that signal, they would be unable to attend to it."
"Number c5674, what you say makes sense; clear away their corpses, check their CPUs, and if they are still usable, remember to extract them."
After the Human in the lead issued the order, they came to the device these Humans had just used to send the signal; it was a simple device composed of various specifications of parts and components.
"It seems that among the resisting Humans, there are still some usable accessories."
The Human in the lead picked up this simple device, the origins of the various components popped up before their eyes, and then their right hand turned into a silver-white liquid state, dismantling the simple signal device.
The parts scattered on the ground fell everywhere, but they did not pay any attention.
The Humans behind them had already extracted the accessories they needed, leaving only two Humans standing in place; they raised their arms, the arms opening like lotus flowers to reveal the cold metal limbs inside, red light suddenly appearing at the nozzles at the ends, spraying out dazzling fire to incinerate the items that no longer had any value.
A pungent stench permeated the air, but these Humans seemed not to notice the smell at all, and it was not until only some residue remained on the ground that these two Humans stopped.
"The cleanup work can be left to e Group, our Task is already complete."
The Human called b9527 led their subordinates and left this area.
A middle-aged man was busy among a pile of debris; in front of him were some discarded parts, and he was repairing these damaged parts in a small, dilapidated shack.
"Did Yake and the others fail after all? However, the signal should have been sent out for an instant; I wonder if other defense zones can help us, I hope their defense zones have not yet fallen to the Alien Race's offensive."
When a green indicator light on the side turned red, he said with emotion.
At this moment, a female voice came from outside the door, "Dalton, Yake and the others were killed by that group of monsters."
Dalton slowly stood up and opened his door; standing at the doorway was a young yellow-haired woman, her right eye already replaced with a mechanical eye, and her left arm still a mechanical prosthetic.
"Anna, I already know; notify Sherlock, we need to relocate, this place is no longer safe."
Upon hearing Dalton's words, Anna's expression tightened, and after nodding solemnly, she hurried to notify the others.
Soon, a team of nearly 200 people appeared in front of Dalton's small, dilapidated shack; the leader, Sherlock, looked 1.9 meters tall, the right half of his face already burned, yet his gaze was exceptionally firm.
"Dalton, we are ready; was the signal sent out?"
Dalton nodded, "It was cut off by that group of monsters the instant it was sent; I hope some other defense zone will notice the signal we sent."
"Good, then let's leave here quickly."
The group orderly took the parts from Dalton's dilapidated shack and quickly evacuated the area.
Not long after the group left, the Humans wearing silver-white clothing appeared in the vicinity.
"Number b9527, they have already retreated; according to the Sage's instructions, we do not need to continue pursuing them, we can end this Task."
c5674 looked at the trash all around and said to b9527 in a stiff tone.
"Understood, the Sage's meaning is to let those resisting Humans remain active so that the CPUs on them will not degenerate and can be used to operate large-scale weapons. What I don't understand is, why does the Sage still want to build those large-scale weapons? Are we still going to fight against those Alien Races outside?"
b9527 squeezed a stiff expression onto their face and voiced their question.
"b9527, these are not questions we should consider; the Sage's wisdom is superior to ours, and if it weren't for the Sage saving us, we would still be enslaved by these filthy organic lifeforms; praise the Sage."
Upon hearing c5674's words, b9527 also nodded in agreement, "You are right, praise the Sage, we are ready to retreat."
After a simple search, the group left this industrial waste trash area.
Looking out, the Outer City of the entire First Defense Zone was filled everywhere with discarded industrial parts and raw materials produced, while the Inner City, separated by a wall, was completely calm at this time; the Humans wearing silver-white clothing lived and worked in peace and contentment among the streamlined buildings, all of them doing their own things, everything appearing so calm and peaceful.
At the very center of the Inner City was a tall tower, from which plate-shaped drones flew out from time to time; in front of the tower was a transparent cube, on which the situations in various areas of the Inner City were constantly playing, showing some Humans wearing dark gray clothing; they were different from those Humans wearing silver-white clothing, as they bore scars on their bodies, and mechanical devices were implanted in their necks and wrists, seemingly equipment to monitor their physical condition.
They were kept in captivity like livestock, their eyes full of enjoyment, and there was not a trace of fear on their faces; even when eating food at the feeding troughs, they felt no discomfort, as if they had long since adapted to this way of life.
"Today, the Wise One will come to select the list of accessories needed for this year; I wonder which unlucky guy will be chosen," a strong-bodied man looked at the captive area and said to an old man beside him.
