Chapter 398: Cyberk
After the humanoid mother insect walked out of the incubation room, it muttered to itself with interest.
"This is the second generation of Black-Winged Insects; I wonder how much stronger they will be?"
Just as the humanoid mother insect returned to the Hatchery control room, several messages were transmitted to its mind almost simultaneously.
"Mother, 5 of our brothers and sisters in the vanguard have lost contact!"
"Mother, at the location where our Hatchery was supposed to be, the offspring we sent to scout did not see the Hatchery, but instead found defensive fortifications newly built by Humans, as well as the corpses of offspring ignited by flames."
"Mother, the offspring sent to scout were caught up to and killed by a group of Humans with a pungent odor."
The successive messages left the humanoid mother insect in a state of confusion. What did this mean? How could the vanguard possibly be wiped out by Humans?
Carrying this doubt, the humanoid mother insect sent a communication message to the child who had sent the message to it.
"My child, what happened? Why is the message you sent so strange?"
Not long after the message was sent, a reply was transmitted back.
"Mother, the strength of those Humans has increased too much in these past two years. Not one of the 5 brothers and sisters of the vanguard escaped. I only learned what happened there after taking in some offspring who managed to escape by luck.
Please wait a moment, I will send you the scene that those offspring saw."
The humanoid mother insect's pitch-black eyes blinked as it patiently waited for the images sent back by its offspring.
Soon, segments of images appeared in the humanoid mother insect's mind.
The footage was very chaotic; it was clearly an image pieced together by its child from countless fragmented perspectives.
It saw two tall Humans wearing silver-white Armor walk into a Hatchery, but the next second, the footage jumped to five tall Humans wearing silver-white Armor leaping down from the air, brandishing the weapons in their hands, and slaughtering the approaching offspring one by one.
A group of Humans wearing gas masks launched a charge against the Insect Tide.
Armored vehicles, tanks, and a super-large Take formed a torrent of Steel, tearing the Insect Tide apart.
Seeing these images, the humanoid mother insect exclaimed.
"What is this situation! How can they have so many soldiers? And those tall Humans wearing green or silver-white Armor, their strength can easily kill Servant Insects; only Humanoid Guard Insects or Black-Winged Insects can contend with them."
Just as the humanoid mother insect was pondering a countermeasure, another message arrived.
"Mother, a group of strange Humans has appeared on our border; they have already destroyed the Hatchery closest to us!"
"Strange Humans?"
As another segment of footage appeared, the humanoid mother insect felt a sense of difficulty.
It saw Humans wearing silver-white clothing with arms that opened like lotus flowers, firing beams similar to those in the previous footage, easily killing Servant Insects. Furthermore, when some Zerg used their sharp Forelimb Blades to slash at their clothing, it did not injure them, and did not even scratch the opponent's clothing.
It was not until an Electric Gun Insect fired a Plasma Bomb that the opponent's silver-white clothing was pierced, along with the Human's body.
The expected wailing did not appear; it saw the Human in front of it expressionlessly raise its hand to aim at the Electric Gun Insect. A dazzling light flashed by, and the Electric Gun Insect was blasted away directly, leaving not even a scrap behind.
Subsequently, that Human did not care about the location where it had been pierced; its skin color turned silver-white, filling in the missing part of its body and repairing the silver-white clothing as well.
Even later, its two arms turned into giant blades, cleaving an approaching large Giant-Pincer Insect in two. The cut was unusually smooth, and a striking red edge drifted up with a wisp of smoke.
When switching to the next scene, the humanoid mother insect saw a string of numbers engraved on the right side of that Human's forehead.
"c4637? What is this?"
The footage continued. The scene shifted, and it saw a large number of Zerg pouring out of a Hatchery, rushing toward those Humans wearing silver-white clothing.
But the next second, a huge mechanical palm swept across. The palm alone was over 4 meters long. With this sweep, except for those massive Tank Insects, or Servant Insects and Giant-Pincer Insects with relatively strong defenses that were not yet dead, the other Zerg within the attack range were slapped away.
The perspective moved upward slowly, and the line of sight finally locked onto that giant robot over a hundred meters tall. This behemoth stood there like a mountain of Steel; its body shimmered with a cold metallic luster, making one's hair stand on end.
At this moment, eerie blue light was emerging from its two huge eyes.
Accompanied by a low mechanical roar, this large robot began to slowly stand upright.
When it stood completely upright, it pulled a Greatsword that also shimmered with blue light from its broad back.
On the sword body, blue electric arcs jumped continuously, emitting a wave of energy.
Hearing a loud "Swish—" sound, the Greatsword was swung down violently, bringing with it a sheet of dazzling blue light.
In the blink of an eye, the entire massive Hatchery was cut in half at the waist!
Immediately after, the giant robot raised its right arm high, and its palm suddenly sprayed a scorching, raging flame. In an instant, the entire Hatchery was Devoured by an endless sea of fire; flames soared into the sky, and thick smoke billowed.
Under the high temperature, everything turned into Ashes, leaving only charred marks all over the ground and a pungent, unpleasant odor permeating the air.
Finally, the robot swept its right hand gently, and that powerful air current whistled downward like a storm. The remaining Zerg could not react in time and were directly swept away by this terrifying force.
Seeing this scene, the humanoid mother insect finally spoke to itself.
"This seems to be the method of the Cyberk race. Are they involved too?"
The humanoid mother insect felt that the situation was very complicated now. First, there were problems with the attack on the Ninth Defense Zone, then it fought a battle with the Beast Race, and after returning to recuperate for a period of time, it discovered that the Humans of the Ninth Defense Zone had actually defeated the vanguard!
Finally, there were suspected members of the Cyberk race also attacking it. What on earth was going on?
At this moment, in the Breeding Ground outside the Hatchery, a group of children born and raised in the Breeding Ground were looking at the Hatchery that shot straight into the clouds in the distance. One of the youths spoke up.
"My father said that this used to be our home, but later it was occupied by these Zerg. They keep us in captivity and will snatch our compatriots from the Breeding Ground at any time. Can we really only be kept in captivity by these Zerg?"
"What else? The generation of our fathers has already resigned themselves to fate. We don't want to be kept in captivity, but that doesn't change our current situation."
"Exactly, this isn't something we should be thinking about. By the way, the time for the Nutrient Paste to be distributed should be soon, right?"
Seeing that their little companions did not care whether they were kept in captivity, but were instead concerned about when the Nutrient Paste used to fill their stomachs would be distributed, the youth could not help but feel a sense of confusion.
Just because their generation gave up hope, does that mean our generation must give up hope too?
