Chapter 414: The Lamb
Seeing that Xindi was also asking, Laofan had no choice but to sigh and slowly begin to speak.
"In this battle to defend against the Beast Race, the combat effectiveness displayed by those ordinary soldiers was higher than I imagined. They showed a tenacious will, no worse than ours."
"They even charged onto the arms of the Stone Giants to fight the Beast Race wearing Rune Armor, shouting 'For the Emperor' to protect the soldiers destroying the Beast Race's runes. It was a suicidal battle, a self-detonation! More than 20 people died before the runes on the Stone Giant's arm were shattered."
"They are worthy of my respect; they are qualified soldiers!"
The officer who had just patted Laofan on the shoulder said with a smile on his face.
"Laofan, we never said we wouldn't give them to them. They proved themselves in this war, and we aren't that kind of people. As long as the muzzle of that weapon is pointed at the Beast Race, it doesn't matter whose hands it's in."
Other officers also chimed in at this moment.
"Exactly, how could we possibly do something like that?"
"Laofan, you are overthinking it."
After hearing Laofan's words, Xindi spoke up.
"I didn't say I wouldn't give them to them; there is enough for everyone. I will distribute half of the weapons and equipment to them. I was worried you wouldn't agree before, but now it seems my worry was unnecessary."
He then clapped his hands to gather everyone's attention and said.
"Since that's the case, I will organize the weapons later and select the soldiers you deem suitable. It would be best to have a few more as backups; after all, the soldiers coming from the Ninth Defense Zone will be training our soldiers again, and if they don't pass, it'll be good to have backups ready."
"Yes! Chief!"
Beast Race Army Camp.
The Beast Race warriors who had finished the battle had suffered a setback today; they returned to their respective camps and began preparing to light fires and cook.
As the flames were ignited, several Beast Race warriors led a dozen Two-legged Sheep to the side of the fire, waiting for the water in the large pot above the flames to boil.
"Damn it, I don't know what was going on today. Among those Two-legged Sheep, there was suddenly a group of tall ones wearing green Armor, just a bit shorter than our Beast Race Rune warriors. We were no match for them at all. I saw one Two-legged Sheep take down our kin with every sword strike; is that really power a Two-legged Sheep can possess?"
"Don't even mention it. The Rune cannons only fired two volleys today. What is Maike doing? Damn it, he is truly a disgrace to the Beast Race!"
"Shh, keep it down! No matter how much of a disgrace he is, he is still a Beast Race Priest. You know the consequences of provoking a Beast Race Priest."
The Beast Race warrior who had been reminded by his companion looked around, curled his lip, revealed his sharp Liaya, and said.
"Seriously, I wasn't wrong; everyone says so."
"Alright, I'm going to turn up the fire to make the water boil faster. The brothers are tired after a whole night and are all hungry."
Seeing that he couldn't persuade his companion, this Beast Race warrior got up and went to the large pot. He squatted down and used his Rune Battle Axe to push a stone engraved with a Flame Rune into the fire. The flames instantly grew much larger, and soon, the water in the large pot began to boil.
Seeing that the water had boiled, this Beast Race warrior shouted to his companion, who was still there baring his teeth.
"I'm going to call the brothers. You hurry up and throw the Two-legged Sheep into the pot; don't delay everyone's time."
"Fine, I got it."
The baring-teeth Beast Race warrior slowly stood up and walked over to the dozen Two-legged Sheep shivering in fear behind him. He shook the Rune Battle Axe in his hand, pulled the chain of the Two-legged Sheep at the very front, and began to walk toward the large pot. The Two-legged Sheep behind were also dragged toward the pot by their chains.
"Move! Damn it, I'm so pissed off today!"
The Beast Race warrior unfastened the chain from the first Two-legged Sheep, roughly tore off the rags wrapped around it, and before the Two-legged Sheep could scream, he lifted it up and threw it into the large pot.
The Two-legged Sheep thrown into the pot let out a heart-wrenching scream and tried to climb out, but it was too far from the edge of the pot. After struggling in the pot for nearly a minute, the screaming gradually grew quieter until it finally disappeared.
Hearing the screams of the Two-legged Sheep, the Beast Race warrior narrowed his eyes, as if listening to some beautiful music.
At this moment, the Beast Race warrior who had just called his companions returned. Seeing that his companion hadn't put all the Two-legged Sheep into the pot yet, he walked up quickly and threw the last few Two-legged Sheep directly into the pot. Suddenly, he discovered a female Two-legged Sheep holding a lamb. A cruel smile appeared on his ugly face, and he said to his companion who had climbed onto the rack to watch the miserable state of the Two-legged Sheep in the pot.
"Fengdong, this Two-legged Sheep actually gave birth to a lamb! We're in for a treat today!"
After seeing it, Fengdong couldn't help but swallow his saliva and urged his companion.
"Quick! Throw them both into the pot together. We'll save the lamb for last and split it between us."
"That's what I was thinking too!"
Fengdong watched as the female Two-legged Sheep was thrown into the pot like a rag doll. To his surprise, unlike the other Two-legged Sheep, this female one did not let out that kind of heart-wrenching scream.
The moment the female Two-legged Sheep fell into the pot, it seemed to forget its own danger. It quickly held the lamb in its arms high above its head, trying its best to protect this weak life from the scalding boiling water.
Fengdong couldn't help but be slightly stunned; he had never seen such a scene. He hadn't expected that these Two-legged Sheep, who usually only knew how to scream in terror and struggle desperately, could erupt with such endurance.
Fengdong's curiosity was completely piqued, and he stood quietly to the side, patiently observing this unique female Two-legged Sheep.
He thought to himself: "I want to see just how long this female Two-legged Sheep can hold on."
Time passed second by second, and the boiling water in the pot churned more and more violently, with steam rising and white mist billowing. However, the female Two-legged Sheep still firmly held the lamb high, gritting its teeth, refusing to slacken in the slightest.
Its body in the boiling water was already torn and mangled, yet the Two-legged Sheep's movements did not waver. The other Two-legged Sheep around it had long been tossed and turned by the boiling water; only this one remained motionless.
"Fengdong, what are you looking at? Is it cooked yet?"
At this time, a group of Beast Race warriors were coming toward the pot. Seeing Fengdong standing on the rack, they asked jokingly.
"I'm smelling the scent; it's so fragrant!"
Fengdong replied simply and looked at the female Two-legged Sheep again, only to discover that it was already dead, but had been maintaining that posture the whole time.
Until the end, Fengdong never heard that Two-legged Sheep let out a single scream. Most importantly, when the Two-legged Sheep held the lamb high, the lamb was already dead—it had been strangled by its own companion when they were being thrown in.
Fengdong used his Rune Battle Axe to flick the lamb that the female Two-legged Sheep had been holding into the boiling water, and then he climbed down from the rack.
