Chapter 417: The Raid

~7 min read 1,203 words

Beast Race Army Camp.

Inside the camp, tents were scattered in a disorderly fashion, and the air was permeated with a thick, bloody stench.

Beast Race warriors sat or stood; some were sharpening their weapons, some were tearing at raw meat, and others sat in circles around fires, conversing in low voices.

"Those Two-legged Sheep really don't know what's good for them, to actually dare to resist!" one Beast Race warrior brandished the Rune Battle Axe in his hand, his tone filled with disdain.

"Hmph, tomorrow morning, we'll let them know what despair is!" another Beast Race warrior responded with a savage grin, gripping his Runic Battle Hammer, the blood-red runes flickering from time to time.

At this moment, Fengdong was sharing what he had seen with the companion who had just shared the Two-legged Sheep lamb.

"Denhaqing, do you know what that last female Two-legged Sheep did after being thrown into the pot? I guarantee you can't guess."

Seeing Fengdong trying to whet his appetite, Denhaqing planted his Rune Battle Axe on the ground and said with dissatisfaction.

"That female Two-legged Sheep held the lamb high above its head, not wanting the lamb to be boiled by the hot water; until it died, it never let the lamb touch the boiling water."

Denhaqing nodded thoughtfully, looked at Fengdong, and spoke slowly.

"I was wondering why you kept staring at the big pot back then; so that's what you were watching. Then why didn't we hear the lamb's screams at the end? Usually, after feeling pain, a lamb would let out a sharp, shrill cry, but we didn't hear the lamb's screams at the time."

Denhaqing remembered that Beast Race warriors had already reached the big pot at that time; if there had been a scream, everyone should have heard it. However, the lamb had not let out a scream, which was what gave Denhaqing and Fengdong the final opportunity to share the Two-legged Sheep.

Fengdong waved his hand and continued.

"Because that lamb was already dead. Before you threw it into the pot, it was already dead; it must have been killed by you using too much force."

The most important thing is that for the sake of that already dead lamb, the female Two-legged Sheep actually held the dead lamb above its head until it died itself, never letting the lamb fall into the boiling water.

How stupid. I wonder what kind of reaction that Two-legged Sheep would have had if it had known its lamb was already dead before it died?"

Denhaqing nodded, recalled for a moment, and then spoke.

"Now that you mention it, I really didn't pay attention to the force in my hands at the time. However, Two-legged Sheep lambs are very fragile; a slight touch is enough to kill them completely."

Fengdong looked at the campfire in front of him, a cruel smile appearing on his ugly face.

"I've found a fun game. I really want to know where the limits of those Two-legged Sheep lie. When their own flesh and blood face a crisis, they always give up their own lives to ensure their flesh and blood won't be harmed."

Seeing Fengdong's mischievous grin, Denhaqing understood and said.

"You don't mean you want to make them voluntarily give up their lives to protect their young?"

"That's right. And when they are dying, let them see their young being thrown into the pot by us. Their final, desperate reaction is the most anticipated part of this game."

Seeing Denhaqing grasp his meaning instantly, Fengdong explained in detail to Denhaqing.

Denhaqing gripped his Rune Battle Axe with his right hand, his tone excited.

"Hmm, this game will definitely be interesting. Tomorrow, after we take the Fourth Defense Zone, we can tell Priest Dawuqi about this game."

Fengdong was already lost in a pleasant fantasy, his tongue sticking out to lick his two Liaya, muttering to himself.

"As long as Priest Dawuqi is happy, maybe we can become Centurions or even Chiliarchs!"

Just as the two were conversing, several gunshots suddenly rang out from the rear of the camp. At first, the two didn't pay much attention, until the gunfire became more frequent, and they realized something was wrong.

"Enemy attack!"

At this time, their superior, a Beast Race Centurion, held a large gun and shouted at them.

"Two-legged Sheep are attacking our artillery position! Grab your gear and follow me! Don't take bombs; don't damage our Rune Cannons!"

"Two-legged Sheep?"

"Don't worry, boss, not a single one of those Two-legged Sheep will get away!"

Outside the Beast Race Army Camp.

Three Kasrkin Sergeants watched the Alien Base Camp drawing closer, and the voice of the Kasrkin Second Lieutenant sounded again in the communication channel.

"Team A is responsible for cover; Team B and Team C are responsible for searching for the Alien artillery position. After destroying the artillery position, retreat immediately; do not get bogged down in fighting."

The three Kasrkin Sergeants immediately replied in the communication channel.

"Understood!"

The Team A Kasrkin Sergeant said to the remaining two Kasrkin Sergeants.

"If any accidents occur, we will help you resolve some trouble from the outside. May the Emperor protect us and let this operation proceed smoothly."

After a pause, the Team A Kasrkin Sergeant said in a solemn tone.

"Cadian stands!"

Seeing this, the other two Kasrkin Sergeants also spoke at the same time.

"Cadian stands!"

The three Kasrkin squads separated. The Kasrkin squad responsible for finding the artillery position continued to move forward, while the Kasrkin squad responsible for cover found a spot on a hillside not far from the Beast Race Army Camp that could barely overlook the full view of most of the Beast Race Army Camp.

During the advance, the Kasrkin B squad saw an Orc carrying a Rune Battle Axe, leisurely tasting a piece of fatty meat. The Team B Kasrkin Sergeant gestured to the team members beside him, and this Kasrkin soldier took out a Monomolecular Combat Knife and slowly approached the Alien in front of him.

At this moment, the Beast Race warrior who was chewing the fatty meat suddenly twitched its ears, and its chewing motion slowed down significantly.

Just as it was about to turn its head, the Monomolecular Combat Knife in the Kasrkin soldier's hand quickly pierced the throat of the Alien in front of him, while his other hand covered the opponent's mouth to avoid any unnecessary trouble.

The Beast Race warrior only twitched a few times before its body lost all strength. The Rune Battle Axe carried on its shoulder slid off, but it was caught by another Kasrkin soldier without a single sound being made.

"Captain, this place is visibly where the Alien soldiers live. We must leave this area before they discover the corpse."

The Team B Kasrkin Sergeant nodded. The two Kasrkin soldiers placed the dead Beast Race warrior in a hidden corner and quickly left the tent area.

Until they reached a spot in the camp, the Team B Kasrkin Sergeant encountered a huge cage, inside which were imprisoned many Humans draped in tattered linen rags. They sat in the cage with dull eyes, like corpses that had lost their souls.
