Chapter 434: Building a City-State
After hearing Lu Zhenda's words, Yingzhou already had some ideas in his mind; weren't the Valhallan Ice Warriors he had unlocked earlier perfectly suited for rooting out this thorn?
After hearing Yingzhou's reply, Lu Zhenda stopped mentioning this issue and began to chat idly with Yingzhou.
"After Vulkan went to the Fourth Defense Zone, how is the situation in the Fourth Defense Zone?"
Upon hearing Lu Zhenda's inquiry, Yingzhou stopped chewing the bread in his mouth, hurriedly swallowed it, and then spoke.
"Hmm? Right, I forgot to tell you, the situation in the Fourth Defense Zone has been resolved; Vulkan played a decisive role on the battlefield."
A trace of a smile appeared on the corner of Lu Zhenda's mouth, and he let out a long breath before speaking.
"Then at least we don't have to worry about the Alien Race attacking our city anymore, right?"
"Yes, that's about right. Once I finish handling the matters at hand in these next few days, I plan to head to the Fourth Defense Zone to deal with some things there."
Seeing that Yingzhou was going to the Fourth Defense Zone, Lu Zhenda asked Yingzhou.
"Then when the Zerg here launch another attack on us, we need to have a backbone, right?"
Yingzhou waved his hand; he had a plan for such things and said.
"I have considered this; with Angron in the Ninth Defense Zone, I am at ease."
"Angron, is it? Good, I understand."
A newly built city-state within the Ninth Defense Zone.
This is a city-state built by survivors rescued from the Zerg Breeding Ground, and with the help of soldiers dispatched by the Military District, the construction progress of the city-state has been significantly accelerated.
Soldiers hold tools and work side-by-side with the survivors. The numbness that was initially on the survivors' faces has been replaced by anticipation for the future.
A giant crane slowly rises, hoisting heavy steel bars and building materials.
Amidst the swirling dust, their figures appear small yet determined.
In the distance, a group of Cadian soldiers wearing khaki uniforms and Bulletproof Armor are stationed outside the city-state, and the Multi-laser on the turret of a Chimera Armored Vehicle scans back and forth to prevent any unexpected situations.
The outline of the city-state is gradually emerging, and the towering city walls are being stacked block by block.
Soldiers use welding guns to secure the steel bars, sparks splashing everywhere, reflecting off their sweat-covered faces.
The survivors use simple tools to clear the ground, piling up rubble and trash to be hauled away.
The air is filled with the smell of metal and dust, and occasionally the roar of machinery and the shouts of people can be heard.
"Kusake, you've worked hard; our team's progress is already considered very fast."
A Human Alliance soldier in a khaki uniform came to sit beside Kusake, picked up a water canteen from the side, took a few big gulps, and said.
"Kaka, you guy, I knew you had an ulterior motive for coming to me."
Kusake put down the shovel in his hand and snatched the water canteen from Kaka's hand, only to find that the water inside had been drunk dry, and he looked helplessly at Kaka sitting on the side.
"Don't say that, you didn't have much left anyway, I just drank the dregs."
Kaka stood up with a face full of smiles, patted the dirt off Kusake, and said.
"Our Legion and another unit were pulled over to build the city-state; do you know what the 46th Legion scouted out over there?"
Hearing Kaka say this, Kusake immediately became interested and asked.
"What's wrong? We've only been here for a few days, has something happened again?"
"Yeah, I heard that the 46th Legion discovered an Extreme Cold Zone. When the Emperor sent the Attila Barbarian Cavalry to scout it before, they even lost some men.
However, because the situation in the Ninth Defense Zone was different then than it is now, it was just filed as a record, and afterwards, everyone slowly forgot about this matter.
It wasn't until recently, when the Emperor led us to counterattack the Zerg and expanded the territory of the Ninth Defense Zone, that the Extreme Cold Zone appeared in the Military District's field of vision again.
Now everyone is discussing how to eliminate the Alien Race in this Extreme Cold Zone."
Kusake glanced at the eloquent Kaka and asked suspiciously.
"Since we arrived here, we've been responsible for construction; how did you know about this news?"
"Look, you're just too unconcerned about surrounding affairs. Another batch of healthy survivors was sent over today, and the soldier leading the team just happens to be someone I knew before, which is how I learned about some of the recent situations."
Kaka put his hand on Kusake's shoulder and said to him in an exaggerated tone.
Kusake pushed the other's hand off his shoulder and asked with some curiosity.
"Then does the Military District have any arrangements? Regarding the situation in that Extreme Cold Zone."
Kaka shook his head and said.
"Not clear. Now that Lord Vulkan has been sent to the Fourth Defense Zone by the Emperor, the Military District hasn't issued any notifications regarding specific arrangements, but the Emperor will definitely have arrangements."
"Alright, stop sitting here, come and help!"
Kusake threw the tools beside him to Kaka and said in a serious tone.
"You guy..."
Kaka picked up the tool Kusake threw at him, swallowed the rest of his words, and began to sweat alongside Kusake again.
Daixi was currently in the warehouse checking the supply situation with her assistant, and the assistant said with a troubled expression.
"Lord Daixi, the supplies being transported in now are disproportionate to the survivors. We can manage for a short time, but if it continues like this for a long time, our supplies will fall into a state of shortage. Why don't we submit an application for increased supplies to Lord Angron now?"
Daixi brushed her short hair with her right hand, looked at the supplies on the surrounding shelves with her light blue eyes, and said in a flat tone.
"If we asked Lord Angron for help as soon as we encountered difficulties, the Emperor wouldn't have sent me here; anyone could have filled this position."
As she spoke, Daixi looked at the document in her hand and suddenly asked her assistant.
"Have the survivors here not undergone the Awakening Ceremony yet?"
Upon hearing Daixi's inquiry, the assistant took out a notebook from their backpack, flipped through it, shook their head, and said.
"They haven't, Lord Daixi. Why would you suddenly ask this... could it be that you want to hold an Awakening Ceremony?"
"Yes, this way we can have a better understanding of these survivors' information. If there are survivors among those who awaken whose abilities are related to production, then our supply shortage problem here can also be alleviated."
Hearing Daixi's words, the assistant looked at the now somewhat excited Daixi and said after a moment of hesitation.
"But, Lord Daixi, will the Emperor agree? After the Emperor took power, he has always focused on ordinary residents; he doesn't care much about the Awakening Ceremony.
Moreover, we don't have the Awakening Stone to hold the Awakening Ceremony here; this also needs to be reported to Lord Angron."
Daixi waved her hand and said.
"That won't happen; as long as it is for the sake of these survivors, the Emperor will certainly agree.
As for the Awakening Stone, I will submit the application right now."
