Chapter 47: Sili Chong

~7 min read 1,257 words

The two teams soon converged within the Insect Tide. Xu Fenqiu nodded slightly at Yingzhou, who was mounted on a biochemical warhorse, to express his gratitude: "Many thanks. Are you the survivors here?"

Seeing that Yingfang had only sustained some superficial wounds, Yingzhou felt a sense of relief, though his expression remained unchanged. He responded calmly, "Mm, this is no place to talk. Let's break out first. You all get on the horses." With that, four Krieg Cavalry stepped forward, letting Xu Fenqiu and the others climb onto the biochemical warhorses, and then they began to break out rapidly along the path they had come.

Upon seeing the Krieg Cavalry, Yingfang suddenly felt that their appearance and aura were very similar to the soldiers his younger brother summoned, but the person before him was clearly not his brother.

He could not fathom why he would encounter such familiar yet strange scenes and figures here. Could this just be a coincidence? Carrying his doubts, Yingfang followed the team as they broke out while carefully observing the burly man at the very front, attempting to find some clues.

Riding on the back of a biochemical warhorse, Yingzhou sensed Yingfang's gaze, but he did not look back, focusing all his attention on the road ahead. He silently led the team, brandishing his chainsword amidst the Insect Tide; every swing brought with it a scent of blood.

Soon, Yingzhou led the Krieg Cavalry out of the Insect Tide and began riding toward the Hunting Ground.

"Brother, are these your men? Does the destruction of the Hatchery earlier have anything to do with you?" Xu Fenqiu sat on the galloping biochemical warhorse, clutching the Krieg Cavalryman in front of him tightly, fearing he might fall off if he were not careful.

Riding on the biochemical warhorse, Yingzhou said without looking back, "I met your teammates, and they made a deal with me, so I came to save you. I sent people in to destroy the Hatchery; it's fortunate you had already installed those bombs, otherwise, my soldiers wouldn't have completed the Task so easily."

As the group passed by the Zerg Incubation Nest, the ground was already covered in deep red minced meat, with some unhatched insect eggs lying on the ground. A thick, bloody stench permeated the air, making one feel suffocated.

"Thank you, brother. If it weren't for you, we might have died here long ago," Xu Fenqiu said gratefully.

"It's nothing, it's part of the deal. Just don't go back on your word when the time comes," Yingzhou replied in a flat tone.

Just as the group passed by a blood-red insect egg, the egg suddenly burst open, and a black shadow darted out from within, piercing through a riding Krieg Cavalryman. Even the biochemical warhorse he was riding ran for over ten meters before slowly coming to a stop.

At this moment, the group finally saw the true appearance of this black shadow: a Zerg over three meters tall had pierced the chest of the Krieg Cavalryman with its sharp forelimbs. It stood on the six legs beneath its body, and its four powerful forelimbs tore the Krieg Cavalryman apart. Then, it opened its mouth, which was filled with dense, tiny teeth, and swallowed the body of the Krieg Cavalryman, accompanied by the sound of shattering bones.

"It's a Sili Chong! Damn it, to think there are Sili Chong in this Hatchery!" Xu Fenqiu said with a shocked expression.

"Sili Chong?"

Seeing that Yingzhou did not know what a Sili Chong was, Xu Fenqiu explained, "Sili Chong are the larvae of Zerg predators. Although they are larvae, their strength cannot be underestimated. We have been targeted by it; if we want to leave here, we can only kill it. Otherwise, with its speed, it will slaughter us all."

Yingzhou's gaze turned serious in an instant; he knew very well the situation he and his comrades were facing. However, just then, seven or eight more Sili Chong crawled out of the blood-red insect eggs not far away, and they galloped toward them at an astonishing speed.

Xu Fenqiu and the other three team members jumped off the biochemical warhorses and shouted at Yingzhou and the others with resolute expressions: "Brothers, we have no way out now; we can only fight to the death!"

Yingzhou glanced at the Sili Chong that was currently Devouring the Krieg Cavalryman, then nodded firmly and said, "Alright!"

Immediately following this, Yingzhou decisively ordered the Krieg Cavalry to raise their Hunting Spears and launched a charge against the approaching Sili Chong. He himself steered his biochemical warhorse and charged toward one of the Sili Chong without hesitation, the chainsword in his hand pointing straight at the Sili Chong's head.

The Sili Chong that was feeding seemed to have sensed the fatal threat brought by Yingzhou; it quickly dodged Yingzhou's attack and used its sharp forelimbs to stab at Yingzhou's throat.

Yingzhou reacted with agility; he jumped off the biochemical warhorse and rolled twice on the ground, skillfully avoiding the Sili Chong's attack. Then, he used his chainsword to block the forelimb stabbing toward his face.

"Whoosh!" A sharp, piercing sound rang out as an arrow shot toward the Sili Chong fighting Yingzhou like lightning, accurately piercing into its chest.

Yingzhou took the opportunity to quickly put some distance between himself and the Sili Chong, then looked back.

He saw Yingfang holding a longbow burning with raging flames, pulling the bowstring taut once more. An arrow condensed from Spiritual Power was attached to the longbow, and as he released his grip, the arrow whistled through the air. However, this time the Sili Chong seemed to be on alert and nimbly dodged the fatal blow.

Yingfang shouted to Yingzhou, who had distanced himself from the Sili Chong: "The Sili Chong's defense is extremely high; ordinary attacks are hard to break through its defense, but Spiritual Power can pierce its defense." Yingzhou glanced back at the direction the Krieg Cavalry were charging, his heart sinking.

He discovered that each Sili Chong required two or three Krieg Cavalrymen working in coordination to be eliminated, and at this moment, he only had eleven Krieg Cavalrymen left.

At this moment, the Sili Chong in front of him was eyeing him like a tiger watching its prey; if he dared to summon Krieg soldiers, he would surely suffer a fierce attack from this Sili Chong.

Yingzhou felt a bit annoyed at his impulsive behavior just now; after all, he could have chosen to be a summoner, yet he insisted on rushing up to be a warrior.

What was worse, he currently had absolutely no experience fighting a Sili Chong, and wanting to kill it in one strike was as difficult as ascending to heaven.

Just then, Yingfang stepped forward and expressed his willingness to provide cover: "I'll cover you! If you can entangle it, I can find an opportunity to give it a heavy blow." With that, Yingfang shook his longbow with his right hand, looking at Yingzhou with a determined gaze.

Yingzhou nodded gratefully: "Mm, then I'll leave it to you!" Following this, he raised his chainsword again and launched a new round of attacks against the Sili Chong without hesitation.

Having learned the lesson from being hit by an arrow just moments ago, the Sili Chong also kept a constant watch on Yingfang while fighting Yingzhou. This resulted in it being unable to attack Yingzhou as it had just done, and the scales of victory began to tip toward Yingzhou.
