Chapter 477: Cold Tide Devourer (1)

~7 min read 1,300 words

Frost Clan bait camp.

Fuderi held his chainaxe high in his right hand, decapitated the Frost Myriad Commander whose life had reached its end, and crushed the severed head with one foot.

Many Valhalla soldiers were finishing off the dead Frost warriors to ensure these Frost Aliens would not have other means to launch an attack again.

Kern Commissar directed the Valhalla soldiers to destroy the Frost Clan's intact defensive fortifications, clearing obstacles for the troops arriving behind them.

"Captain, other units have sent communications; these Frost Aliens are retreating in the same direction. Requesting further orders."

A Valhalla Lieutenant stood behind the Valhalla Captain and asked.

"Hmm, then... well... I will go ask for the opinion of the Astartes lord."

The Valhalla Captain had just opened his mouth when he suddenly saw Fuderi standing not far away, so he changed his words and replied.

Now, these soldiers were all under the command of the Astartes lord; he should see the Astartes lord's instructions first before saying anything.

The Valhalla Captain walked quickly to Fuderi, saluted standardly, and said in a solemn tone.

"Respected Astartes lord, the Aliens are currently retreating in the same direction. Please issue new orders!"

After hearing the Valhalla Captain's words, Fuderi looked at the Captain before him from beneath his helmet and replied in a brief tone.

"The Emperor's will: exterminate the Aliens here. Have all units continue the pursuit. We will also go there to wipe out the fleeing Aliens!"

The Valhalla Captain saluted again and replied in a forceful tone.

"Yes!"

Extreme Cold Zone, Wide Snowy Plain.

The Frost Great Shaman looked at this snowy plain without a single piece of cover, and a trace of excitement could not help but arise in his heart. On his large hand beneath white fur, a crystal-clear Ice Bead lit up with a pale blue glow.

"Great Shaman, we have begun retreating to the location you provided. Once the Human troops appear within the attack range, deploy the Cold Tide Devourer."

After reading this message, the Frost Great Shaman pondered for a few seconds, then strands of pale blue energy appeared in his palm and entered the Ice Bead, replying to the Frost leader's communication.

"As you command, leader. Please come to the Cold Tide Devourer immediately to watch the final struggles of those Humans."

After replying to the Frost leader's communication, the Frost Great Shaman turned to look at a group of Frost Shamans behind him wearing robes with complex patterns. His deep purple lips parted slightly, and a surge of energy amplified his voice.

"Prepare the deployment of the Cold Tide Devourer. Once the Human troops appear, wait for my command to deploy. Do you understand?"

Although this voice was not loud, it traveled to the ears of every Frost Shaman with this energy. These Frost Shamans saluted the Great Shaman standing in front and replied.

"Understood, Great Shaman!"

Not long after, a Frost unit appeared on this snowy plain. The Frost Great Shaman narrowed his eyes slightly. After seeing clearly that it was the Frost leader's unit, he lowered his head to tidy his robe, gripped the Ice Bead, and walked toward this team.

"Leader, please follow me. This will be the location for the Cold Tide Devourer's deployment in a moment. To avoid the Cold Tide Devourer causing too much damage and harming you, please come with me to watch from over there. Furthermore, deploying the Cold Tide Devourer requires your assistance."

The Frost leader jumped down from a Cuankui, looked at the Frost Great Shaman holding the Ice Bead, and said in a flat tone.

"Let's go. While that Human unit hasn't arrived yet, let me see what is going on with your Cold Tide Devourer, Great Shaman."

The Frost Great Shaman bowed respectfully, led the way for the Frost leader, and said in a calm tone.

"Of course, please follow me."

The Frost Great Shaman brought the Frost leader to a large Ritual Array set up by a group of Frost Shamans. After coughing twice, he began to explain to the Frost leader behind him.

"The conditions for deploying the Cold Tide Devourer not only require sacrificing a portion of the Frost clansmen but also require a drop of your blood. Only then can the Cold Tide Devourer's power be better unleashed."

"Oh? It requires my blood? No problem. As long as that Human unit can be eliminated, I can certainly afford a drop of blood."

The Frost leader put on an interested expression, looked at the Frost Great Shaman, and nodded in agreement.

As for the Frost warriors needed for the sacrifice, they had already lost the battle anyway; let the last arriving Frost units become the offerings. For the sake of the Frost Clan, their sacrifice was necessary.

Upon hearing the Frost leader's agreement, the Frost Great Shaman brought the Frost leader to the center of the Ritual Array, where a crystal core was suspended.

"Respected leader, you only need to drip your blood; leave the rest to me."

The Frost leader stared at the crystal core before him, extended his left hand, and used the energy within his body to force out a drop of blue blood. Energy wrapped around his blood to prevent it from freezing into an ice block.

As this drop of blood landed on the crystal core, the crystal core flashed with a ghostly blue light.

"Excellent. Now, we wait for that Human unit to arrive, as well as our sacrifices. I wonder whose unit will be so unlucky."

Seeing that the Great Shaman's method of selecting sacrifices was surprisingly consistent with his own, the Frost leader said nothing more, turned, and left to wait for the appearance of the Human troops.

Soon, Frost units appeared one after another on the plain. To the Frost leader's surprise, behind each of these units were Human troops in pursuit. When those Human troops saw their own friendly forces, they gradually closed in, "devouring" many Frost units that were close by.

Seeing this scene, the Frost leader frowned. He had thought some units would be pursued closely, but he had not expected there to be so many.

Moreover, those tall Humans wearing blue and white Armor were charging into the retreating Frost units, constantly swinging the serrated-like Battle Axes in their hands. Not a single Frost warrior dared to turn back and resist; they were just blindly fleeing.

After the foremost retreating units arrived at the Frost leader's location, the Frost Great Shaman whispered beside the Frost leader.

"The warriors entangled with the Human troops definitely cannot return. It would be better to just let them block those Human troops. As long as the sacrifices are within that range, it doesn't matter if they live or die."

After hearing the Great Shaman's words, the Frost leader watched the Human troops getting closer and closer. The number of Frost units entangled with the Human troops was not large; he estimated there were about 40,000 Frost warriors fleeing to his side. This war had caused the Frost Clan heavy losses.

Compared to the loss of so many warriors, the Human troops before him were the top priority.

"Do as you say. Deploy the Cold Tide Devourer!"

After hearing the Frost leader's words, the Ice Bead in the Frost Great Shaman's hand emitted a ghostly blue light, and the crystal core suspended in the center of the array also emitted a ghostly blue light.

The entire snowy plain began to tremble, the Runes within the array lit up one by one, and tens of thousands of ice shards condensed in the air.

"The Cold Tide Devourer is not a weapon, but an awakening." The Great Shaman's voice trembled with excitement, "These Humans have no idea what they are pursuing..."
