Chapter 514: Clearing the Zerg Nest Mountainous Region (1)

~7 min read 1,362 words

The group eliminated the Aliens rushing toward them while searching for the entrance to the Zerg Nest.

"Over here! A large number of Aliens are pouring out of this cave!"

Upon noticing that a group of Scythe-bugs were all pouring out from the same location, Fannidike immediately said to the War Dog Space Marines over the communication channel.

The group began to advance toward the location where the Scythe-bugs were emerging, and soon discovered a cave that was a full 5 meters high.

Fannidike arranged 5 Alicia Sentinels in the front to provide suppressive fire, with 10 War Dog Space Marines following behind the 5 Alicia Sentinels to provide supplementary fire.

"I am responsible for destroying the core of the Alien Nest! We must act quickly; the Alien Nest is writhing and trying to restrict our movements!"

Ghostly blue Runes flickered on the lenses of Fannidike's helmet, and purifying incense steamed from the joints of his Holy Shield Power Armor.

He swung the Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd to cut down three Scythe-bugs, the azure halberd blade evaporating the insect blood into dark green mist.

The five Alicia Sentinels formed a wedge formation, their Heavy Bolters weaving a dense net of fire.

The cave wall exploded with a roar, and six Blade Death-servants covered in crystalline armor broke through the wall from the left.

Their sickle-limbs shimmered with purple light, and one of them crashed straight into the Sentinel on the left, knocking it over.

"Open fire, stop the Aliens!"

Fuderi disengaged the safety on his Bolter and issued the order over the communication channel.

Ten Space Marines fired simultaneously at the Blade Death-servant that had knocked over the Sentinel; the bolter rounds exploded in front of the Blade Death-servant's compound eyes, causing it to let out bursts of hissing sounds before finally collapsing powerlessly to the ground.

Fannidike seized the fleeting opportunity, and blue Psionic Lightning erupted from the tip of the Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd.

Following the Grey Knight's prayer, the lightning chain leaped among the group of Blade Death-servants, blasting 5 of them that hadn't yet approached the Sentinels into charred fragments.

"Fuderi, establish a crossfire point! The Sentinel formation, detach two Sentinels to switch to Multi-melta!"

Fannidike calmly issued orders over the communication channel.

Zandaer changed the magazine for the Bolter in his hand; a Scythe-bug launched a surprise attack from above his head. Zandaer quickly freed one arm to grab the Scythe-bug's head. The Scythe-bug, with its head gripped, opened its mouth full of sharp teeth, and in the next second, its skull was crushed by Zandaer's force.

The Bolter in Fuderi's hand fired continuously, harvesting the Zerg appearing before him. Suddenly feeling movement by his feet, Fuderi lifted his foot and stomped, crushing a small Spike-bug into pulp.

Fannidike leaped forward, the Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd tracing a perfect arc—the psionically-infused strike split the insect body along with its crystal armor in two, and the foul-smelling viscera were purified by Holy Fire before they even hit the ground.

A tooth-aching sound of chitin rubbing against chitin came from deep within the cave; countless Scythe-bugs were using acid to corrode the rock strata.

The War Dog warriors suddenly discovered that the ground beneath their feet had become sticky—Juntan had quietly covered a radius of a hundred meters.

Fannidike plunged the Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd into the ground, and blue-white psionic energy exploded with him at the center; the corrupted Juntan shriveled and carbonized in the holy energy.

"Sonic screech detected! All units, be on alert!"

Fannidike's warning had barely finished when three Neural Rippers rushed out from deep within the cave.

These Aliens, covered in pale chitin, opened their four-petaled mouthparts and released Infrasonic Waves capable of shattering human bones.

Fuderi's Chainaxe roared as it cut into the Ripper's chest cavity, the splashing acid etching blue smoke onto his Power Armor.

"For the Emperor!"

The roar of the War Dog Space Marines merged with the roar of the saw-teeth, and they fired their Bolters continuously against the compound eyes of another Alien.

Fannidike transformed into a silver whirlwind, each swing of the Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd claiming the lives of swaths of Aliens.

Even the entire Zerg Nest, at this moment, activated its self-protection mechanism under such intense attack.

The writhing flesh behind the rock strata began to change the terrain within the Nest, attempting to separate this invading Human squad and defeat them one by one.

When the last Ripper turned to Ashes under the attack of the Multi-melta, the cave suddenly trembled violently.

The Juntan inside the cave writhed crazily, and a Scythe-bug a full 4 meters tall slowly rose from a crack in the ground.

Its back armor was embedded with hundreds of Human skulls, and purple energy condensed at the ends of its four pairs of sickle-limbs.

"Alien filth!"

Fannidike's Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd was instantly enveloped by psionic energy, and he said in a solemn tone.

"Bring the Emperor's holy light into the darkness! Purify all Evil Spirits in this world! The Emperor will guide us! Alien filth! This is the Emperor's judgment!"

Fannidike raised the Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd, and psionic energy continuously gathered on it.

Inside his helmet, substantive blue light erupted from Fannidike's eye sockets.

Fuderi was hacking his Chainaxe toward the neck of the last Alien when he looked up and saw prayers flowing across Fannidike's Holy Shield Power Armor, with Psionic Lightning gathering at the tip of his Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd.

As Fannidike swung his left hand down, that bolt of Psionic Lightning fell instantly. Before this Scythe-bug could even fully pull its body out of the Juntan, it was struck by the Psionic Lightning; in the dazzling psionic light, the Scythe-bug's figure was rapidly disintegrated, turning into Ashes.

As the Psionic Lightning fell, the entire Nest was affected.

While condensing the Psionic Lightning, Fannidike had already sensed the location of the Alien Nest's core; at this moment, the Nest core seemed to be using energy similar to psionic energy to move its position.

On the helmet display, the energy trajectory of the Nest core traced eerie energy ripples among the flesh-and-blood rock strata.

Psionic energy surged around Fannidike, transforming into a mass of silver-white Huguang.

His consciousness passed through layers of biomass membranes, his retinas retaining the painful human faces embedded in the flesh walls—all victims devoured by the Nest.

The teleportation destination was the area where the Nest core emitted energy.

Under a biological dome composed of hexagonal crystal lattices, the Nest core floated: a pulsing scarlet tumor, its surface covered in purple vessels like neural Synapse.

Thousands of embryos twitched in transparent vesicles, mass-producing the Blade Death-servants encountered earlier.

"Alien creation!"

Fannidike slammed the halberd shaft heavily against the ground, and a bolt of Psionic Lightning illuminated those unformed Alien embryos into curled-up charcoal.

The tumor suddenly split open a cross-shaped mouthpart and launched a mental attack.

The Grey Knight's Psionic Barrier erupted with piercing light.

"Child's play!"

The moment the Heavenly Punishment Demon-Cleaving Halberd pierced the tumor, Psionic Lightning instantly poured into it.

With the death of the Nest core, the entire Nest began to collapse.

Fannidike did not hesitate; locking onto the location based on the psionic residue from the previous teleportation point, he initiated the extraction teleportation.

When Fannidike returned to the squad's side, the battle here had already ended; from the time Fannidike left to his return, only 13 seconds had passed.

"Evacuate as quickly as possible, the Alien Hive Core has been destroyed, we must leave at once!"

As soon as Fannidike appeared, he immediately said to Fuderi.

The group began to retreat along the path they had come; without the obstruction of the Zerg, the group quickly escaped the Zerg Nest, and the Nest, which stood as tall and wide as a mountain, was now collapsing with a boom, even sinking several dozen meters.

Fannidike felt that his psychic energy consumption was a bit excessive; although using psychic energy here would not suffer from Warp backlash, the corresponding consumption of psychic energy was also terrifying.

Merely two psychic teleports had caused his psychic energy consumption to exceed half.
