Chapter 569: The Heavily Damaged Zerg
Third Defense Zone.
The Zerg Overmind, shooting straight into the clouds, was pulsating rhythmically, and the entire urban area was shrouded in thick green fog.
Inside the Overmind, the humanoid Brood Mother Yiweier was using tentacles to connect to the Overmind's neural hub, controlling its normal operation and accelerating the production speed of combat Zerg.
"The Cyberk have already pushed the front line to the core region of the Elemental race; now, there is no way to contact the Elemental Land. They must have already been defeated by the Cyberk.
The combat power of these Cyberk is simply too strong; ordinary children cannot play any role on the battlefield at all.
Even if the elite children can currently gain some advantage on the battlefield, in subsequent battles, the Cyberk will display powerful combat strength! And they attack targeting the children's weaknesses.
Furthermore, fighting against the Cyberk is just too disadvantageous; there is simply not much biomass that can be recovered."
Yiweier's pale purple pupils scanned the surroundings, and she slowly closed her eyes, beginning to contemplate subsequent countermeasures.
"And those Humans, they have actually fought all the way to the Beast Territory side. The Beast Race seems to have been much quieter recently; even from the border, news about the Beast Race is rarely heard, but there is quite a lot of news about Humans instead... No way? Could it be that the Humans are really suppressing the Beast Race?"
Yiweier's eyes suddenly opened, discovering that what she had just been thinking about seemed very logical.
Immediately, Yiweier contacted a Dominator Zerg near the Beast Territory.
"Child, has there been any movement from the Beast Race recently?"
After the message was sent, Yiweier's fair skin merged with the pulsating flesh of the Overmind, waiting for her child's reply.
Soon, the Dominator Zerg that received her message sent a reply back.
"Mother, there has been no movement from the Beast Race recently; even the sounds of daily life have disappeared. I suspect they have already evacuated this region."
Yiweier's pale purple eyes blinked, and then she continued to send a message to her child.
"My child, go and scout those Beast Race Buluo that have lost their signs of life, and see if there are any traces of fighting there."
"As you command, Mother."
While waiting, Yiweier sent another message to the Dominator Zerg within the defense zone.
"Seize half of the Humans in every Breeding Ground, prioritizing those without reproductive capabilities. Our battle with the Cyberk consumes strongholds; we usually keep them in captivity betting on their mercy, but now, it is time for them to repay the favor!"
At this moment, inside the Breeding Ground, Afudao was hiding in a shadow. He saw one Swift Zerg and Spike Zerg after another rush into the Breeding Ground, beginning to capture some survivors.
But Afudao soon discovered something wrong; these Zerg were capturing survivors in an orderly fashion. Some young males and females were not bitten through the skin by the sharp Liaya of those Zerg; they just bypassed these people to pursue some relatively older survivors.
"They're here! They're here!"
A pregnant woman curled up under a metal bed frame, her protruding abdomen stuck between the bed rails.
In the adjacent building, the sound of bones shattering suddenly rang out, mixed with the painful screams of a male voice.
"They are actually capturing so many people this time! The Zerg rarely capture so many survivors; have they encountered something this time?"
The Breeding Ground where Afudao was located fell into chaos.
Everywhere was filled with painful screams. A Spike Zerg used its barbed forelimbs to tear open the thigh muscles of a middle-aged man; the pain caused the middle-aged man to faint directly.
But fainting could not change the middle-aged man's fate; he was ultimately still dragged away by this Spike Zerg.
Afudao saw the survivor from next door who had just screamed being dragged out. At this moment, he had already been clamped around the waist by serrated bone pincers. Blood plasma flowed down the pincers of the Giant Pincer Zerg, staining the ground a bright red. The blood was quickly absorbed and transported through the Zerg pipelines buried underground to the nearby Hatchery.
"Oh no, it's coming my way!"
Afudao saw this Giant Pincer Zerg walk into the building where he was hiding. When it entered, the Giant Pincer Zerg's body even scraped rubble off the building's walls.
Watching the Giant Pincer Zerg's greenish eyes staring straight at him, Afudao only felt a chill run down his spine.
His life and death were merely at the whim of this Giant Pincer Zerg. Afudao hated this feeling of his fate being held in the hands of the Zerg, but he could do nothing and could only be forced to accept it.
The Giant Pincer Zerg approached Afudao but did not launch an attack.
Afudao's nervous heart was about to jump out. He watched helplessly as the Giant Pincer Zerg walked in front of him, cold sweat pouring out, his breathing becoming very shallow, fearing that a single breath would make him suffer the same fate as the previous survivor.
After the Giant Pincer Zerg looked at Afudao for a few seconds, it turned and left. Not until the Giant Pincer Zerg's figure disappeared from Afudao's field of vision did Afudao slowly exhale a breath of turbid air, collapsing to the ground with weak legs.
"Phew... phew... this... this should be fine now, right?"
Recalling the scene where he saw some survivors not being captured by the Zerg, Afudao felt that he should have escaped a disaster.
Afudao calmed down a bit, stood up, and walked out of the building where he was hiding. He saw that many children of similar age to him, or even younger, were fine. The older ones were probably around 25 years old; there were no survivors older than them.
Some desperate survivors held up some "weapons" and rushed up, wanting to make a final resistance.
But the next second, they were pierced through the body by the Zerg, and bright red blood sprayed onto the ground.
Afudao saw the middle-aged man who had given him Nutrient Paste earlier being pierced through the thigh by a Spike Zerg, even though the middle-aged man gripped the ground hard with both hands, his ten fingers dragged into bloody marks on the ground.
"No! I don't want to die yet! Save me! Save me..."
The middle-aged man looked at the young children who had not been dragged away by the Zerg and shouted for help, hoping someone could save his life.
But who would dare to confront the Zerg? Here, the Zerg could kill them without any effort. No one dared to take such a risk to save him; this was a meaningless act that would not only fail to save the middle-aged man but would instead make their own situation dangerous.
When the middle-aged man saw that no one was willing to lend a hand to save him, a look of despair appeared on his face. Even the ten fingers that were tightly gripping the ground loosened, and he was just dragged away by the Spike Zerg like that.
"Mommy..."
A five-year-old little girl was hung upside down by her ankles wrapped in tentacles. Her mother frantically tried to Bite the joints of the Zerg in front of her, but only ended up knocking her own teeth out.
When the mother's face revealed white bone amidst the green smoke, the little girl's crying suddenly stopped.
The Swift Zerg used its tail stinger to make the little girl stop crying, letting the little girl fall into a deep sleep.
