Chapter 571: Angron's Image
The 86th Legion advance unit of the Ninth Defense Zone.
"Lord Astartes, our advance task for today is complete. According to the plan, we should build a simple fortification here."
The accompanying Deputy Regiment Commander of the 86th Legion, Fang Xianmo, found Randall and the others walking at the very front of the formation and spoke in a respectful tone.
Randall glanced at the sky and asked Fang Xianmo in confusion.
"Isn't it a bit too early now? During the advance today, we basically didn't encounter any interception from the Aliens. Even in those Alien Nests, there were no Aliens guarding them."
Hearing Randall bring this up, Fenongqiu, who was fiddling with his Bolter on the side, nodded in deep agreement and said.
"That's right, it's clear these Aliens are already afraid of our formation; we should just continue to advance forward. Seriously, those Aliens have all run away! Let's just pursue them directly!"
Fenongqiu had been quite excited when he first arrived at the 86th Legion, waiting to have a great battle with those Aliens, but he hadn't expected that the other side hadn't left many Aliens behind at all. Even for the ones that were left, before he could even make a move, they had already been wiped out by these soldiers.
This made Fenongqiu feel very depressed at the moment. Are those Aliens really this cowardly? Don't be cowardly; if you are cowardly, what am I supposed to do?
Randall patted Fenongqiu on the shoulder, signaling for him to be quiet, and then looked at Fang Xianmo.
"Lord Astartes, we are also acting according to the orders of the Military District."
Fang Xianmo explained to Randall with a wry smile, then added a few more sentences.
"By the way, this is a plan formulated by Lord Horus and the Emperor, stating that without special circumstances, everything is to proceed according to the plan."
Upon hearing Horus and the Emperor, Randall nodded slightly and said in a flat tone.
"Fang Xianmo, is it? I don't mean anything else; I just wanted to know why we have to stop here. However, since it is the Emperor's plan, then we shall follow the Emperor's will."
Seeing that Randall had agreed to camp, Fang Xianmo felt a slight relief in his heart and immediately spoke up.
"Yes!"
After Fang Xianmo left, Randall said to Fenongqiu beside him.
"My brother, it looks like we shouldn't encounter a large number of Aliens during the advance in the next few days."
Fenongqiu waved his hand and sighed.
"Sigh, it's so hard to get out here; if I don't chop something, I always feel very unsatisfied."
Seeing Fenongqiu like this, Randall looked at the other War Dog Space Marines, then said in the communication channel.
"In that case, let's continue the Meditation Training that Father entrusted to us. Especially you, Fenongqiu; if you are still like this, after Father returns, I will suggest to Father that he lengthen your Meditation Training time."
Fenongqiu shrugged, leaned his Bolter against the side, and then said to Randall.
"Look at you, what's the fun in that? Isn't it just Meditation Training? We'll just do the training Father entrusted to us."
The other War Dog Space Marines also expressed their agreement with what Randall said.
"Alright Randall, stop talking about that useless stuff, let's start now."
The ten War Dog Space Marines sat cross-legged on the ground and began today's Meditation Training while the Human Alliance soldiers and Cadian soldiers around them built the fortifications.
A Human Alliance soldier saw the behavior of Randall and the others and asked his comrade in a low voice.
"Tell me, what are the Lord Astartes doing?"
The Human Alliance soldier beside him glanced at the War Dog Space Marines sitting cross-legged on the ground in the distance and slowly said.
"Not sure. Stop worrying about those things; hurry up and build the fortifications, our task is very tight."
Having finished the Meditation Training, Fenongqiu saw Randall go to find the officer of these soldiers to ask about some things, so he said to the comrade beside him who was wiping a Chainaxe.
"I feel that we might run into an Alien Army tomorrow."
"Your feeling?" Kasimier, who was wiping his Chainaxe, said directly without raising his head.
"Is your feeling really useful..."
Before Kasimier could finish his sentence, before the sound of his voice had faded, he was hit in the helmet by a flying stone, and the laughter of other War Dog warriors reached his ears.
"Hahaha, Fenongqiu, why are you getting so worked up?"
Fenongqiu still held a stone in his hand and said to the other War Dog Space Marines.
"Go away, I can't be bothered to argue with you."
Kasimier had long been accustomed to Fenongqiu's behavior; he could have completely dodged the stone that just flew over, but there was no need.
Just then, Randall walked out from a group of busy Human Alliance soldiers and said to his brothers.
"I just asked that officer named Fang Xianmo; our marching route tomorrow is the same as today's, and the number of Aliens is not high."
Upon hearing the news brought back by Randall, the stone in Fenongqiu's hand was crushed directly.
"You all should learn from Eric."
Seeing that the atmosphere was a bit subtle, Randall suddenly spoke, pointing at a War Dog Space Marine who was helping the Human Alliance soldiers build the fortifications.
The warrior who was pointed out was helping a few Human Alliance soldiers secure a bunker, but the expressions of those Human Alliance soldiers looked very stiff.
When Fenongqiu stood up, his joints emitted the hum of hydraulic devices, and he began doing push-ups with one hand on the ground.
"If you ask me, we should be conducting a night raid..."
Fenongqiu's words were cut off halfway as he suddenly fell silent; Randall had opened a small Communication Device, and a projection appeared—it was Angron.
"This is the image just sent from the Military District. I brought Fang Xianmo's Communication Device over for you all to see."
In the image, Angron held his right hand in a fist and pressed it lightly against his lips; after a light cough, he said.
"Cough, my sons, when I returned to the Ninth Defense Zone, you had already followed the advance unit to march into Alien territory.
As your father, I know well your nature of being eager to prove yourselves, but I want to say that there is no need for you to prove yourselves; I see everything you do.
I hope that this time you execute the task, you can let me see your changes, and also, I still like you all very much."
As the image ended, these War Dog Space Marines were clearly still savoring the content of the image just now.
Although they did not understand why Father would arrange Meditation Training for them, upon hearing Father's last sentence, a feeling of joy still surged in their hearts.
"I want to prove my Loyalty to Father!"
Fenongqiu looked up and roared. Seeing this, Randall couldn't help but shake his head and say.
"My brother, you didn't just listen to the last sentence, did you?"
"Hahaha, Kasimier! Let's have a fight!"
Without waiting for Kasimier to agree, Fenongqiu's iron fist already slammed toward him.
Randall watched his brawling subordinates, the corners of his mouth beneath his helmet curling up slightly; he seemed to understand a little why his father had them do Meditation Training—rather than warriors, his father hoped they would be more like Humans.
On the other side of the camp, a few Human Alliance soldiers jogged past carrying construction steel plates, and upon seeing the War Dog Space Marines sparring, they all sighed in sincere admiration.
"Truly strong!"
